    This book was great. I probably won't read it again (lol) but I like the message the author sends through the characters.

      @Kelly Page That's one of the major points to the story.

    Question: what if George wasn't the one to kill gatsby? What if some one else got there first, killing George later? Just for arguments sake, Tom and Daisy leave almost immediately afterwards. Daisy isn't even em seen again in the novel.

    This would've been of great use to me if only I had found it last year :(

    "Hardly anyone afternoon his funeral." 😅I kinda love how dismissive that line was, even though Gatsby's father showed up.

      Sounds typical- often there is human themes of sadness, violence, tragedy, catastrophe, with the ultra wealthy. Example- Kennedy's.

      And widespread dishonesty- Fitzgerald Warns: "Jordan Baker instinctively avoided clever, shrewd men, and now I saw that this was because she felt safer on a plane where any divergence from a code would be thought impossible. She was incurably dishonest."

      Well it's mentioned in their video summary of the novel itself, this one mainly focuses on Gatsby and his character arc... but yeah it probably should be mentioned here nonetheless.

    thanks this is really useful to understand the story better!
    btw 3:40 it says daisy's driving but in the picture, gatsby is driving lol

    • @daniellevinson6975
      @daniellevinson6975 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Another mistake I noticed is that Daisy's depicted as a blonde when Jordan was the one with "autumn-leaf-yellow" hair. (The book also mentions Daisy's "wet, dark hair" when she arrives at Nick's home to meet with Gatsby.)

    A better question is what'd happen when Gatsby accepts that Daisy no longer loves him. Fitzgerald perfectly voided that; it's for the afterthought.

    If I can recall, Gatsby and Daisy are driving Tom's car because when they left they has switched cars. So when they kill Myrtle it's with Tom's car, then Gatsby has it restored and gives it back to Tom, then Tom says it's Gatsby's car.
    I think....
    BUT This was extremely useful and I love the pictures

    • @kkatia121
      @kkatia121 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. Gatz advised Cody from a coming storm when Cody was in the yacht and Gatz was fishing (that was his job after he quit as a janitor in the Uni: a fisherman)

    Does no one see the metaphorical meaning behind all of the character??? To me the genius metaphors is what made the book so great to me!!
