For anyone else attempting this, I very much recommend following the video creator's advice about learning the cycle step by step. It helped me a ton to just get to where I was reliably firing a directional shard off after backdash canceling the boots special before I bothered to continue learning the rest of the technique. Build up the muscle memory as you go and you'll eventually feel out the timing for chaining the whole thing. On that note, I managed to do the last segment from the part of the spiral nearest the Aegis Plate up to the Aegis Plate chest itself, and I can do the individual segments to get up to the last one... ...but I can't do them reliably enough without falling all the way back down. I actually did the last segment after using High Jump to get up there and practice. I think it was about 8-9 consecutive jump cancels to get to the Aegis Plate using what would presumably allow early access to it. I realize early Aegis Plate isn't really necessary for any particular speedrun category (Any% already skips it IIRC) but it would be super cool to pull off. (Also, I honestly find it easier to do it while moving, especially toward the right...QCF left hurts my wrist so bad...when I want to go straight up I QCF right then, during the jump and attack part, I DI left and then it kinda zig zags me upward, with room to go hard to the right or slightly left based on the DI)
Now THIS is an explanation! Not just a freaking show off. Edit: How tf do you do the technique consistently? It works so fucking randomly, it's annoying af.
I can get two jumps, but after doing another cross kick for a 3red jump, I can't get the backdash-directional shard cancel to work. Most I can do is 2. I suck lol
