  • this is a simple and in many cases for people a free mod to provide damping to the tamiya friction shocks that come standard on tt-01 and tt-02 base kits. one of the first upgrades done to these kits are replacing the "terrible" frictions shocks to CVA or other oil damping shocks. in this mod im actually creating friction in the shock to provide damping using nitro fuel tubing and rod plastic rods cut from the tamiya parts tree the various parts come from. this mod requires no modification to any parts and is 100% reversible

    Fantastic idea! I just cut some power cables to the size and it did a similar job.

    This is a really clever idea. Unfortunately, it didn't work for me. The shocks had nice damping in the hand or when bounce testing on the bench. However, when I took it out to the asphalt it bounced and slid all over the place like it didn't have any suspension at all. I think it was binding for small bumps and only compressing for big bumps. I'd recommend either leaving the shocks alone or getting some $20 oil filled ones.

    Good idea! Should be the factory way!

    13:20 Awesome idea! Take note you have to rotate the stock TT02 damper the right way to lock them. If you hold them like that the top of your right hand should twist toward you, not away.

    • @cndhobbies5220
      @cndhobbies5220  ปีที่แล้ว

      The shocks can only twist one way, there is a built in stop that prevents turning one direction or the other

    • @megatesla
      @megatesla ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cndhobbies5220 Yes, so if you need pliers to twist them you are turning the wrong direction.

    • @cndhobbies5220

      @@megatesla I need the piers to twist them on cause its more difficult to put together when the insert and tubing inside the shock

    • @megatesla
      @megatesla ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@cndhobbies5220 Okay that makes sense. But like I said previously, you are twisting them in the opposite direction to what they should be twisted to lock them. Unless yours and mine and the manual is different.

    maybe try this without the plastic incert. you made it too stiff.

    Great idea but guessing that the doesn't bounce so much with the battery and electronics installed.

    • @cndhobbies5220
      @cndhobbies5220  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      It dampens quite well when the weight of the electronics are in. Cheap/free option for the kit

    Would this mod be permitted in Euro Truck racing?

    • @cndhobbies5220
      @cndhobbies5220  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be in your classes discretion at your track. But if its to be box stock where only things in the box can be used, if you take the rubber tubing that comes on the end of the motor, and cut them down to 4 equal lengths and used in the upper end of the shock insert, then it "should" be allowed as it all came in the box :)
