  • In this video we build a stock Tamiya TT-01e, run it on the track, then upgrade it, run it again and compare how it did.

    I like how there was a guy trying to muscle you but you clearly out maneuvered him

    Hi Ari, there are so many great RC channels out there, but IMO you always find the right mixture between building, running, tips and just having fun with RC's. Many greetings to you and your crew

      Thank you. That’s a really nice compliment. I appreciate it. I really try hard to keep my videos quick and to the point and to do a little bit of everything. Or to switch it up week to week. FYI, your little Icon of Orco… awesome! Lol.

    Thanks for the surprise cameo! I was in the big guy in the yellow shirt with the orange AMG in the first race. LOL. It was nice to race with you.

    The real and essential upgrades are high torque seevo saver , ABSOLUTELY adjustable turnbuckle and alu steering linkage, alu propeller, oil shocks , adjustable rear and front upper arms and ball bearing. Every single of these upgrades improve the performance.

    Hi. Awesome Mercedes body 👌 (was driven by no less than Michael Schumacher in 1991 DTM season). And thanks for the without / with upgrades comparison 👍

    Great video 👍nice to see some upgrades for the tt01. Unfortunately it's not easy to show how big difference it is between friction shocks and oil dampers. It's really night and day.

      thanks. This was a fun project to work on.. The Lambo was gifted to me by Staten Island Roc. I finally found some good use for it.

    Sweet, simple build Ari, that Lambo shell really suits it. 1060 esc's every time,those Tamiya ones have a habit of packing it in too quickly.

      Damn Tamiya ESC's ... crap lol I got that LAMBO shell gifted to me from a friend. Glad I was able to use it on something. It was just sitting there in my work area of almost a year.

    I put in tamiya adjustable upper control arms and rear 3 degree toe in uprights. Which helps keeping me straight under acceleration and camber helps with he turning. I also put in adjustable turn arms so I could run a little toe out up front too. hope that helps.

    Great car and very useful upgrades. These shocks are awesome with so many possibilities. I use these, too. You should test some more and step into the Poor Boys RC speedchallenge😉

    Hi, nice racing! What timing system are you using in this vid?

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      So we use the lap transponders from lapmonitor.com/store/en/ with their app. When we do the large scale races we use those transponders with liveRC.com. However, for next spring I believe we are upgrading to a way more expensive system. The name escapes me at the moment. One of the guys "Tom" is in charge of that department... I just go with the flow with whatever we all agree upon to use.

    don't understand why the tire inserts don't come with the tires, prefer the higher profile slicks, that body custom touches, look great custom work

    To be honest the TT01E is a better chassis than the TT02, seems more sturdy. I used to run one with the Buggyra Fat Fox truck bodyshell and it was so much fun to race, I did upgrade it with bearings, CVA dampers and a few other bits. Great video!!

    Pity you didn’t run the Mercedes body for a true comparison of the times, not everyone has a sleek spare body to use .

  • @IowaBudgetRCBashers

    Why do you prefer the 01 vs the 02??

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't like the steering on the TT02. Even with the upgraded aluminum steering and aluminum steering bridge there is a lot of slop. I added shims which improved it but overall I just like the feel of my TT01 more. Thats just me though...

    can you upgrade the motor to a Super Stock 23T?

    • @RCRetro

      @@RCRetroSorry yes, it's a joke. I can't stand my Spektrum radio compared to my Radiolink. Love the channel and was another great build.

    Like the color of the Gallardo.

  • @bradkalman2353
    @bradkalman2353 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

    I rather use the radiolink it's got better range and you can hold more cars in them.

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      For that radiolink I can only have 10 cars on there. My new remote has memory settings for up to 100 cars? Maybe one of the other radiolinks?
      Also I was having glitching issues with the radiolink. When racing my car would veer off or speed up without my pulling the trigger. It also felt loose out there with the steering. I originally went from a flysky to a radiolink which I thought was just an ok upgrade.. but going to this spektrum was a game changer....

  • @bradkalman2353
    @bradkalman2353 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Why you like it better than a tt02?

    • @RCRetro
      @RCRetro  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't like the steering on the TT02. Even with the upgraded aluminum steering and aluminum steering bridge there is a lot of slop. I added shims which improved it but overall I just like the feel of my TT01 more... just handles better. Thats just me though
