I used to live in Glebe and decided to make a stew I cut up all the meat and realised that I. Had no onions so I left the meat on a plate and went to the shop to get some onions when I came back the meat was gone I looked out the window and they were gone so another trip to the shop to get some more meat when I came back and started cutting the meat up the kookaburras landed on the window sill and wanted more I started to feed them every day being a scout it was ironic that I was a assistant patrol leader of kookaburra patrol I woke up one morning and they were asleep on the curtain rail they like watching tv I fed them eye fillet steak at Xmas they went beserk singing at the top of their voices so happy they were I found it is best to put your hand under their chest and let them step onto your hand they like being stroked yes they are a beautiful bird starvation is what kills them so feeding them is good only steak nothing else no water they don’t drink
Mince is not good because it sticks to the beak and can cause damage. I use gourmet chunky mince which is cubed meat from Woolies or Coles. I have used this for over 2 years and never had issues. It is in the Pet food fridge.
Yeah, usually the same thing here. Somebody else bought it for them without understanding why they get the chunky one. Given the mess, definitely won't be happening again! 😉
@henrik2117 ahhhh..... it's roo mince. Kangaroo, for the non-Aussies. Normally i give them diced roo steak because it's nice and tidy chunks. But.... this is basically 'roo in a blender'
@@thekookaburraguy3423 OK. I thought it looked like something in that category but wasn't sure if it was fruit or meat. Thanks for the reply! Please say hi to all of them from me 😊
@@henrik2117 ahhh, yeah, they're meat eaters. They'll actually kill snakes (small ones) by smashing their heads against trees! And i will indeed say hi for you 😃
I swear, they act so, so much like parrots. Bird butt in the food bowl and everything XD
I admire their enthusiasm.
