    This may make me seem older than I am but one of the things I have come to appreciate from Kirby's videos and the craftsmen he visits is how low-tech everything is. Extremely little computers, electric devices and automation, if any at all. Way more hand made stuff, tradition and proven techniques. Even the studios and shops have very little of that. And I think that's so utterly refreshing.

      @@andresmartinezramos7513 really ? Why?
      You cannot automate this type of craftsmanship. You can't automate or get an algorithm or program to replicate the experience these men have.

    • @louisacapell
      @louisacapell 2 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      @Pukeutuminen wouldn't be bespoke then would it?
      You've got to have the nuance of understanding and experiencing what can happen with different cuts and body types and that's just not something you can program.

    • @louisacapell
      @louisacapell 2 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      @Pukeutuminen nope, a machine will never have human nuance.

    • @rideoutlondon
      @rideoutlondon 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@louisacapell Well you could literally have a 3D scan of your body and it would then print the fabric to be sewn together. Anything can be automated, but in Savile Row you are paying for the experience of visiting these places, the history and craftsmanship which is why it’s a special thing.

    As a seamstress and tailoring enthusiast (by no means even close to an expert) this video-and the others in the series-is among the most valuable videos I’ve ever watched, full stop. Learning from masters and listening to their reasons for adjustments, based on decades of experience... nothing else compares!
    The patterning visualization was particularly helpful-thanks!

    Brilliant to watch and very informative.
    Interesting watching Mr Haste drawing a pattern in 2D , marking lines in 1D but all the time thinking in 3D !
    I'm watching it manoeuvring my back and thinking "so that's the side Collar ? No, that's the back of the collar ? Now I'm confused ".
    Mr Haste' ability to later alter lines shows what a skilled craftsman is capable of given decades of experience .
    Probably the best video about bespoke tailoring vIew seen ... and I've seen afew .

    Wonderful video, thank you, Kirby! The sheer craft on display was stunning, but then it's the art, too: the way he adjusted the cut by constantly evaluating how the lines corresponded, and he brought all his knowledge to the cutting table, including his knowledge of Kirby, how the material would be cut and sewn. It's incredible stuff, and he makes it look far easier than it is. That is the hallmark of a true professional at the height of his abilities.

It is obvious that during that time,I have not been spending thousands on Bespoke suits that would only fit me for a few months out of forty years.Then came your videos on purchasing a bespoke suit and it has been delightful. The banter and conversation is exactly what I expect and the inside baseball (Or should it be cricket) on how it is is wonderful.

    Hi, general question on styling and tailoring: I inherited a wool single breasted long overcoat. It is a size 48 and I am closer to a 44 (46 is a little big 44 a little tight). I would like to keep the 48, is it possible to simply overlap the single breasted coat and add buttons and button holes to make it a double breasted ? Or would this be a faux paus because the shape and style of a doble breasted over coat is not the same as overlapping a single brested coat ? Thanks for any feedback.
