Agreed. Right now most of this gear is made in the U.S. in smaller batches, so production costs are much higher. I think you'll eventually see more of the big hunting gear manufacturers jump on board and start mass producing saddle hunting gear overseas, and the prices will come down.

A climber is going to be cheaper, and probably easier to learn for a new hunter. But, if you have the money and willingness to learn, there's nothing wrong with starting with a saddle. It's a matter of personal preference.
