A wonderful show. I've learned more history from this series than I ever learned in school. Mick Aston was a marvelous instructor. I'm sorry the series ended, but with the help of modern technology, I can watch it all again and each time discover something new.
One of the many things I loved about Mick was that no matter who was telling him their ideas, from a 6 year old kid to other world class archaeologists, he always paid attention, respected whoever it was, and really listened and interacted. He had that great and unique gift that only the truly talented can possess to never talk down to anyone, but to help raise them up to his level, and make it fun. He (and all of Time Team) are sorely missed.
@@daviddavis5689 Viewing figures declining, what else. Everything has a time. It was a great run of 20 years and no one would have predicted it would last that long and become the institution it has. At least now it's back in online form with some of the old crew and many new faces.
I'm about in the middle of all of the Time Team episodes. Mick definitely was a special guy, and his enthusiasm for archaeology was contagious! He really know what he was doing, too! He understood there was a reason for everything... Miss You Mick!
Late to TT and love it especially Mick. What a fantastic teacher of history. Was disapointed to learn that we had lost him. The world needs more Mick's.
Just found this series and man, do I like these people. Just knowing Mick is gone, four years later, kills me. I'm so sorry he was angry in his last months. R.I.P. Mick!
I never learned of the show until this last year. Luckily for me, there are some episodes I haven't yet seen. ^-^ R.I.P. Mick and Robin. Your legacies live on, and continue to educate and entertain many to this day and beyond.
Time Team was and is my favorite tv program. Thanks to the internet I watch all the old programs. All of the people on the show were so fun to watch. From Mick to the unknown archeogist on the dig, they not only taught you history but each keep you entertained. Mick you are very much missed.
Utterly brilliant programme - one of the very very very best things ever done - the team seemed to become old friends - so glad to be able to watch it on YT. Parents - sit down and watch it with your kids, better than fantasy computer games - it may inspire them to get out and understand their own country and value its heritage. It's been here a long time, it must be treasured and not taken for granted
Thanks all for putting this tribute together. I've learned to love all the Time Team people on quite personal level. I've enjoyed every single episode, and the entire lot of you. Thank you, thank you, thank you! After discovering Time Team on line, I kept thinking, "Mick is a man I'd really like to spend an afternoon with."
A great character who was so enthusiastic about everything he did. Also, he had a tremendous sense of humour. An inspirational expert. He will be sadly missed.
Time Team a history lesson that wasn't or never intended to be a lesson, brought more history into our homes than schools ever did and we didn't mind learning from it either bring it back even repeats is OK, bless you mick and Phil with his spade. one programme. I'm surely going to miss on a weekly basis why didnt they all get honours from hm the queen?
It was such a wonderful series . He and all the rest of the crew, were so interested in what they were doing, and so well informed . I learned so much from Mick and all the rest . To this day , I still look at land in a new way and at bumps and uneven ground . Near castles where I live and think, what is under there , what stories lay hidden ? But I think they would have worked for free if they had too ! Thank you Mick , for your enthusiasm, it rubbed off a little on me !
One of the best television shows ever. In Australia we only saw the last couple of years' worth of series. Please replay the series from the beginning.
I’m a newbie to these series. I don’t know why I didn’t watch any before this. Actually I tried but couldn’t get through an entire episode in one sitting. But I’m now hooked. I watch an episode or two a day. And it’s because of Mick Aston. You can’t help but get drawn to him. Personable, approachable and down to earth. He swears like a sailor but he’s real. He is what you see. I remember one episode when he swore and it escaped the censor. I thought then I really liked the guy. I think it was an episode in season 10 when he tried to lift a bell made from bronze and it was really heavy. RIP Mick Aston.
Missing Mick , is such an under statement cause he really WAS what Time Team 1.0 was all about, and though he will never be replaced, his memory lives on now, in the New Time Team 2.0..Love and Gentle Hugs to you Mike, from here on earth to God's heaven above..
Go to show I don't listen to the news that much, I have only just found out that Dear Mick Aston has passed away. really in my mind and heart Mick is still with us. I loved the Time Team show all ways watched it. Mick made the show what it was which we all thank him for. we all always learn something new and his enthusiastic and communication with the public and the rest of the team was well out standing. My Blessings go out to Mick Aston and all his family.
I'm a late comer to watching Time Team. It's only been in the last year that I've known of the show. I really think the entire team were wonderful, even the newer people that so many put down. But Mick was perhaps the most loveable of the bunch in my opinion, and that's really saying something when you put him up along side such an awesome team of good and passionate people. R.I.P Mick Aston, you don't know me, but you've educated me some and made me smile even more many times. ^-^
August 2017 and I still watch Time Team episodes on the telly. Loved Time Team for years and was really saddened when Mick Aston was announced dead. Robin's death was also an upset.
Kudos to old Mick, I've watched his stripey jumpers since Time Team first began and it was a staple of my Sunday teatimes. I hope in years to come some future archaeologist gets to dig him up and ferret around with his grave goods, it would be somehow fitting :)
I miss them all. I guess all good things come to an end and of course they are all getting older (aren’t we all!). I like the occasional programs that Tony does and when the others pop up as experts. I liked the way that over the years the young archaeologists who were only in the background became experts in their own right!
With all due respect, I'm sorry to say that with his untimely death, the magic of TimeTeam began to fade. He could bring the past back to life like no one else. I bow to a great man whose light may never be extinguished.
This prodigal son the USA, love and esteem you, your King, and the people or, just every and any thing British, I dare say. NOW, I loved Nick like only a dislexic guy could. To me, he was your consimet teacher. Showing and asking the students questions that are ENLITENNING and teaching the people the intelligent approach, to any archological situation under any conditions. except Meteor`s.
Time team died when they recruited Bill Oddie and I believe Sandi Toksvig, it lost its attraction as a serious archaeological program to a joke show for them, Mick was a real archaeologist through and through and foundation of the show, R.I.P.
My wife and I discovered Time Team just a week ago, the best thing to do during the Covid situation. There is nothing on main stream TV worth watching anymore and the left wing news coverage is crap.
Michael Nolte I am working on Season 11 because that's where I first saw it on Netflix. I guess I have a lot of episodes to watch, like seasons 1 through 10. Another good show on Netflix is The Repair Shop.
For Christ's Sake! I have just spent half an hour chasing a non existent audio problem with my computer, only to find you only have audio on one channel! Give me a break! PS loved Mick Aston.
they are trying to bring time team back. will it be as good or the same? I think without Mick it won't. It could still be good if they have the right people but it will always be Mick's baby.
Mick is missed, but the new Time Team is coming. I believe the first full episode will be in December of 2021. Check out the "Time Team Official" TH-cam channel: th-cam.com/users/TimeTeamOfficialvideos
Mick's enthusiasm being praised as if unusual by his equally enthusiastic colleagues is rather endearing. Enthusiasm seems to be a career trait.

I wish that my school teachers had a thousandth of the enthusiasm and knowledge of Mick Aston. R.I.P. a great loss, to the family and the world.
Prof Mick - rest in peace and throughout the centuries sir. You and TT were very special to me when times were dark.
