Formed in Florida, alternative rock band Matchbox Twenty consists of Rob Thomas, Brian Yale, Paul Doucette, and Kyle Cook. The group signed with Atlantic Records in 1995, creating four studio albums including 12x platinum ’Yourself or Someone Like You’ and 4x platinum ’Mad Season’. The band’s debut album spawned the hit singles "Push," "3AM,” "Real World," "Long Day,” and "Back 2 Good” and continued to spit out hits such as "Bent," "Unwell," "If You're Gone," "Bright Lights" and "Disease."
In addition to more than 30 million records sold worldwide, Matchbox Twenty headlined six different tours and has earned many honors, including five Grammy nominations, four American Music Award nods, the 2004 People’s Choice Award for “Favorite Musical Group”, and they were named “Best New Band” in the 1997 Rolling Stone Readers Poll.

This is one of my absolute favorites. Seems this song gets overlooked but definitely deserves more attention.
Obviously no one got booted out of the literal car but the general sentiment of the chorus perfectly expressed the end of my marriage years ago and so this really stuck with me. (And it's also just an amazing and passionate song which is par for the course for MB20 and Rob on his own as well.)

Actually this song is literally about Rob getting kicked out of a car when a girl broke up with him. Saw it in an interview with him once. Makes the song that much better.

Haven't heard this song in over a decade, then while.heading off from work 4 lille words of melody pop into my head " while you were sleeping" and here I am happily going down the matchbox 20 rabbit hole...
I never like this when it was first released. I was 33 now im 56 it finally growed on me and i think its a masterpiece. Im glad i can actually listen to this and not be so judgmental.

I was in a totally domestic abusive relationship when this album came out,shit 20+ years ago,and this was my go to song! We all have the strength to get out, we just got to do IT❤️
This is my father's and my go-to whenever I would accompany him on one of his truck driving routes, growing up.

I swear Rob is the best lyricist of our time. The band has great musicians, Rob a has a great voice, the production and subtle touches are always on point, but the lyrics of their songs just blow everything from the last forty years right out of the water.

I was also 14 when i bought it. And it was 20 years ago.
i was 11 , it was my very first music album. Didn't understand English back then, but i can still enjoy the music. It's amazing. Great Album.
