This is really well done. I like the simplicity of your approach and the pleasant way that you explain things. New people coming in to the hobby can easily understand what you are doing and why you are doing it. I also like the way that you reference people who have had an influence on your thinking. Love the loco. Now see if you can find me an N gauge one like it at a reasonable price. Lekker bly.

That's great to hear!! My main goal is to help new people coming into the hobby! I will definitely keep an eye out for that Loco in N gauge.

This is such a fantastic video. Exactly what I needed as I’m constructing my own DC layout and have now reached the wiring stage. Like you, I follow Charlie Bishop at Chadwick but his layout is DCC with lots of electronics. What I especially like with yours is showing how easy it is to build your own control panel. The only bit where I got lost was spotting how you connect the black track wires back to the panel - all those wires looked red! Will you be installing a point motor and switch too?

Hi, thanks for checking out the video! I'm glad you found it helpful! I know that part of the video was a bit confusing, I also got a bit confused when making that part of the video... 🙈 I'm not planning on installing a point motor. I want to keep it as simple as possible.

Folding the conductors back over the insulation is likely to result in a faulty connection. You should have nothing but bare conductor under the terminal block's screw. I'm not sure why you folded the wire back on itself. Maybe the screw would not tighten down on just the conductor? Make sure the terminal block is rated for the wire conductor size that you are using.
