Jodi Foster - Kali Reis - AWESOME! I am loving this show and loving the fact that it is featuring two tough women detectives! Plus the showrunner, director, writer Issa López is just as awesome & thanks for featuring another woman taking charge of the show - exec producer Mari-Jo Winkler. I will be watching out for more of theirr work. As a history buff, you can bet that I searched out the the history behind the events in this new drama and what I found so much that I will be making more videos on the history, myth and lore behind Season 4 of True Detective Night Country!

Loving this accompanying podcast and I'm glad it's hosted by an Indigenous Alaskan woman! It's frustrating (but of course expected) to see all of the butthurt comments and reviews complaining about the season's focus on women and an indigenous community, and the presence of spiritual/otherworldly elements.

@@lhero1465 Nah there's just a LOT of fans upset about Max cancelling Our Flag Means Death when they were already in pre-production for their last season. The petition to renew has over 50,000 signatures already and the show was in Max's Top Ten for weeks. Max ( and streamers in general tbh ) is getting very bad about pulling stunts like this and folks have had enough so they are commenting on Max's social media posts to make their voices heard.

This was a great time to tell this story , since there are things out there showing them selfs more as we explore. An go places never been explored. The cast was a great pick. Am all ready addictive, am thing about asking Issa if I can do a trivia to it... Love the story line. I love the winter months and the cold . And 30 days of nite. Great job ladies....Real Talk!!??

The aesthetic, lifestyle, environment and culture is so intriguing for me in that everything about that part of the world does require a different type of person to not just exist but actually live and thrive. Hey i first met Eskimos when my father was stationed in New foundland , Goose bay Labrador!?? And to my surprise Jodys been there too .in her move when the terrorist kidnaps her daughter and no one believes her daughter exist. And they land the plaan in Goose bay. Its cold like ice land and Alaska.. Me and my best bud use to go fown in the valley where the lake had frozon over every year and do three sixtys on the ice and carry an tire a take each other for rides. How is first episode??? Worth to watch or bad like season 2
Worth it IMO. Season 2 was dogshit.
I recently started to rewatch the earlier seasons ahead of Night countrys premiere. I will definitely tune in for this new season, but it just feels cheap to call it True Detective. From the opening theme and visuals, to the acting range of the two leads, to the horror aspect getting a larger role and much more, I'm not saying Night Country needs to follow the earlier seasons format of having a shootout in episode 4-5 etc, but I would love for it to build upon the earlier foundation that was there, and expand it. This just feels too much like a left turn, wich makes sense considering it wasn't really a True Detective project from the beginning.
It could have a tie-in w/ S1, Travis is also the name of Rustin Cohle's dad, who we know was a survivalist in Alaska 🤷♀️

I need to clarify that I do like Jodie Foster and she's great! I meant there is a huge difference of quality between her and Kali, while the other seasons has had different pairings usually turning out good, I'm not seeing this one offering the same output. But I might be saying this too early and be proved wrong with time.
@@RebelliousProtagonist True, Kali is pretty new to acting, I hope that the more seasoned actors like Jodi and Eccleston will bring out the best performance for Kali and the newer actors. We'll see 🤞 That could be why they're distinguishing it a little by adding "Night Country"

I’m just glad that the writers are normalizing forceful sexual aggressiveness without consent because it all depends on the gender of the person doing it, if a dude does the exact same thing then it’s g-rape. Big difference!
The writing clearly showed her continuing when he said wait was wrong.. if you interpreted that differently, that’s your problem.
@@picantepatricio clearly the script and filming of the scene and its message being sent was approved, not a peep from the audience and no outrage means clearly a fellow female forcefully perpetrating aggressive sexual acts with explicit denial of consent is totally fine and not in any way “wrong”, it would only be wrong if the characters were switched that would be grape, so your negative interpretation of my celebratory comment for equity is your problem.

If I look at the racial demographics of Alaska, I am going to be hard pressed to find a West African amongst them. But for some reason, HBO felt it was appropriate to put one in this show. And it's a female boxer with barely any acting experience. The DEI hiring has gotten waaaay out of hand. I won't be watching this.
