There's another version of the video where Maynard narrates and talks about the meaning behind the song. Essentially, he had 9 different friends who were Libras and all very oblivious to the needs of others, self-centered. So he wrote a song called "3 Libras" so each of them would wonder if it's about themselves, but never knowing for sure.

Thanks for the explanation. Deep poetic and makes so much sense. Superficial, shallow, flighty & fickle, self centered and surface level.. I've known a few of them myself...

He’s such a deep, philosophical man. And such an interesting artist. Also, his voice is just so soothing and beautiful.

OMG, so much to unpack here. So many neat ways to interpret "meaning" in songs. I personally think when he speaks of a fallen angle and face of a tragedy. It make me think of his mother Judith Marie. She suffered a stroke that paralyzed half of her body, when he was 11. She lived this way maintaining her faith in God for around 10,000 day or just over 27 yrs. yeah like the 10,000 Days album and 2 part song.
So check out Judith song. The rest of perfect circle and puscifer. Hang the song titles on the wall and throw a dart. Bam, it landed on a good song. 👍
I love love your reactions dude so much fun looking forward to more. Spiral Out. Keep Going!

Wow ! That makes so much sense. Especially the 2nd verse of this song. I love when artists get personal, without outright making it clear what their talking about. Subtlety has gone away from music these days. I will definitely check out Judith now

If you’re gone down the APC rabbit hole then Judith has got to be up there. Great reactions dude.

Another great song by A Perfect Circle is Gravity, that whole album is basically about addiction of one sort or another imo and Gravity has a special meaning to me because after my son died I fell into a deep depression and could only see how I'd failed to save him from his alcoholism, even though logically I knew no one could have helped him when he refused to seek or want help on his own behalf. But one day several months after he passed I put my APC cd on to play and rediscovered the song Gravity and it hit so different this time. When Maynard sang the line 'Lift me up into the sun, I choose to live' that was like me realizing I would/will always grieve for my son and miss him but I had a choice to make moving forward; and I knew I chose to live. To keep breathing, to honor his memory and his 31 years on earth and to find joy inthe precious gift of his coming to this world as my son. And it made me strangely sure that my son was/is very much alive and choosing his continuing journey of evolution but on a different plane. When I listen to Gravity I feel close to him (even if, on THIS plane, he did not/could not choose to live on). But I felt him in my spirit the day I first replayed that cd after his death, telling me to live MY life, MY time, and this song gives me such peace. Plus it's just a gorgeous song and his vocals are so pure.

Save Judith for Maynard's mom quartet

This album pretty much sums up all of Maynard’s other music that I care to listen to. Besides for a couple songs here and there.

Great insights. Very thoughtful! Check their best live performance… Orestes - stone and Echo Live at Red Rocks. It is sublime. Look up the back story of Orestes from Greek Mythology.

Now listen to Maynard's THIRD band Puscifer and start with one of their least complex but most beautiful songs The Humbling River.
