- While I was in Japan for the first time, I was able to go to the DRT headquarters on the shores of beautiful Lake Biwa. This was an unreal day to say the least. Thank you to the DRT crew for having us for a quick day!

I used to dream of visiting Japan to experience the culture and for their market of car parts. I still dream of visiting for the same reasons now, but also for their lures and fisheries!
If you ever get the chance to go, go! The place is unbelievable!
Geoff, it was really awesome to see you tour DRT! Seeing the behind the scenes of the people and the facility gave me more of a connection with swimbait manufacturers and makes it easier to shell out the money, instead of buying an expensive glide from word of mouth.

Love to get your thoughts on a DRT Tulula 79 remix rod. I believe it has a rating of up to 2 oz. Best paired with tiny klash but was wondering if it’s capable of handling klash 9? What would you throw on it?
I actually haven’t fished that rod before, I’ve heard guys really like it for the TiK but haven’t heard much of throwing the K9 on it. I’m sure it can handle it but just might be under powered

Japanese fished Biwa for 8years. Although this 3 years Biwa getting tough but this lake is incredible. DRT is special for sure. Great Video!!!!

@@gewglesux thanks comment! I am shore angler, wearing ‘waders’. From my experience, after waterweed that covers lake disappeared at around 2018, it turns difficult to catch bass. Of course there is Big bass there but I feel chance to get that are so reduce. Even so there is occasional opportunities at Lake Biwa, I got 45cm, 44cm, 52ch, 48cm, 53cm, 45cm, 61cm, 52cm in 3 hours. 61 is 4.7kg. That was June at last year It occurred Wani liver closed to Biwako Bridge. That is 1st sweetfish boil season in year. Hope you come to Biwa!

Hey King, what water temperature do you like to start throwing the magdraft?
I find for my fish that they really like eating the soft bait at around 53-55° water temp. Normally it’s a change in position as in not seeing as many fish shallow or getting followers, that’s normally the trigger in my mind to start really trying the soft bait.
@@crazybassfisher Are you referring to water cooling going into fall or warming to, going into the spring?
Going into winter for me. Out here, the coldest our waters get will be 50-52 or so.

Japan is so small, with such a large population. Coupled with few large freshwater lakes = unbelievable fishing pressure on biwa. I feel like on top of the Japanese tendency to overengineer everything, that fishing pressure drives innovation.
Yup, as the saying goes, pressure makes diamonds!

@@gnarkillSS That bait look awesome. What version is best: floating, Heavy floating, extra slow sink, slow sink or medium sink? Lake is 10-11' deep, very clear, targeting smallmouth.

Geoff, can you ask him why they never churn out products? The hell is wrong with this company?
They actually make a ton of baits, just a lot of them go to Japan shops instead of the US. Surprisingly, DRT USA gets a good amount of baits, they just don’t advertise it.
Lived in Japan for 6 years and even though fish is a large part of thier diet, never saw anyone fishing outside of commercial type. Learned something new today.
Fishing is super popular over there. From saltwater, freshwater, small streams you name it, they have it all dialed over there!
