Heat gun- I use mine to quickly dry paint, soften the glue to dismantle furniture and quickly cure polymer clay without an oven. Gets a lot hotter than a hair dryer.

Learn how to turn the drawers and bottom of a $1 desk from the Dollar Tree into a beautiful side table/night stand complete with a display shelf and DIY hardware for the drawer. Next week I'll show how to use the rest of the pieces of the desk to make a second piece of furniture; a sleek Shaker style hall table or desk with easy tapered legs.
Thank you so much for the support! I have lots of projects planned ranging from abandoned miniatures, furniture makeovers, accessories, kits and Dollhouse Miniatures in multiple scales. I also have a large Harry Potter build planned for 1" scale.

I think your channel is the best “how-to” for making miniatures on the internet. I don’t know why you don’t have more subscribers and comments. I love your calm, matter-of-fact voice and straightforward instructions. Thank you!
Wow, thank you! I really appreciate that. I started my channel a little over a year ago. The growth has been much more than I expected, but I know there's a large audience I still need to reach. Keep on pluggin'.
💯💯💯
...The magic you make happen with these "cheap" dollar tree tables!!!👏🏾👏🏾😊
Thank you 😊 These are always fun
My favourite is the drawer pulls. Genius.
Thank you so much!
Honestly you make my day Shyra, everything you use is "cheap" according to you but the end result is always beautiful!
Aww, thanks so much 😊
Such a good idea! I love the banister legs. Looks fantastic!
Thanks so much! 😊 It looks really in scale and delicate
I love doing this tiny work but I lack imagination. Your ideas are soooo helpful for me. Thank you for sharing.
You are so welcome! I struggle with coming up with ideas too. I look at reference images and that helps. Once I start crafting, ideas come to me. I can't think of much of anything until I start.
You are truly a genius
Thank you so much!
Really clever! I like the blue color💜💜💜
Glad you like it! (since the bottle is still nearly full 😆)
Really appreciate the "Imprecise measuring methods", they would make the process go so much faster and actually work so well for people who struggle with measuring or are a bit neuro-diverse. Thinking outside the box like that makes crafts and hobbies like this so much more accessible for everyone.
Thank you! That's a cool perspective. This hobby really is for everyone whether you're extremely detail oriented or you play fast and loose with scale and measurements.
i think i would have had to paint the white backing because I am not great with scissors, but this was a great combo to make drawer pulls- and the whole table for that matter! super adorable.
Thank you! 😊
Nice. Looking forward to seeing what you do with the leftovers!
Coming soon!
Love this! Mine will be a little chunky... your legs might be inexpensive, but mine will be free - they're included with my take-out sushi! Love the pull, too! I can't wait to see what you do with the rest of the pieces!
Great idea!! I love using trash and junk I have lying around to make things.
Wow! The table turned out beautifully! Love seeing DT item transformations. Thank you for sharing.
Thanks so much! 😊
Love that color paint though!
Me too! I bought it thinking I could use it to make verdigris, but the color is way different than the turquoise I was expecting. Happy accident
Love the color you chose to paint it. Love how you make your hardware too.
Thanks so much!
That nightstand is a dead ringer for one I own in life size, just a different color. 😂 The stair balusters are awesome. At first I thought you were using toothpicks, but that would have been harder.
Toothpicks would be good for half scale, but too thin for 1:12. The stair balusters work really well.
Genius redo!!! 👍🏻
Thank you
What a great idea, and the little stand is beautiful, tfs x Julie 🇬🇧
Thanks so much!
The reverse was absolutely seamless this week! I went back and watched it like 3 times! Love how the table turned out, and I really like that color, so I don't mind seeing it a lot! :)
😆 I film with the reverse in mind now.
☺I LOVED THIS VIDEO!!!! Use of the staircase balusters was Classic and the sequin and jump ring for the drawer pulls were PERFECT! I SMILED the whole way thru!!!! Great Job Queen! I LOVE YOUR channel!❤
Thank you so much! I love your channel. I'm working on a new video now. I used a couple nail art studs I bought after seeing you use them in your bags and luggage series.
You make me want to go immediately to Dollar Tree and buy all of the wooden dollhouse furniture I can find there, but I don't think they're open at 12:10AM. I also don't have a dollhouse or room box in which to put the things I would make, nor do I have immediate plans for such, so I will archive your videos and one day I will have so much fun making all kinds of furniture following your tutorials!! 😄🥰
That's so funny 🤣 If you don't have a room box, you could easily make one from cardboard to put on a shelf or hang on the wall. Here's the video showing how I made my mine. th-cam.com/video/ZrfYd2SEk10/w-d-xo.html
While I do have a roombox, I also display miniatures around my house, particularly on my windowsills.
@@TaraFinlay That is a *fantastic* idea! Thank you!!
@@queencityminis We are actually getting ready to move into a new house! I will definitely be looking for opportunities to use miniatures in the décor. Thanks!
@@lindenjenesse5078 I also sometimes nestle them into plants.
You made it totally different but it looks great!!! Awesome job!!❤❤❤😊😊😊
Thank you so much!
@@queencityminis you are so welcome!!❤️❤️❤️
Lovely work. And some great tips! Thank you.
You are so welcome!
Your biggest fan here! I notice you mention when something was cheap but meanwhile you bought all these kits which of course I looked up and they’re expensive as hell! But we all sacrifice for the things we love and are obsessed with. It just made me chuckle.
Did I miss something? The only "Kit" I saw was the one she was working on, and it was from Dollar Tree, so it couldn't have been more than, what, $1.25? Maybe you're talking about some kits in other videos? I'm confused.
Yes, I love a good bargain, but I'm glad to splurge on artisan made kits. I like supporting small businesses as much as I can. My favorite are the Robin Betterley kits. They are so unique and such a blast to make.
@@MaryGatdula no i mean in other videos of hers.
@@fancifuldevices 😁 No wonder I was confused. Thanks for letting me know.
I would love to know how you would DIY Michael's plastic animal like the raccoon from the dollhouse collection and make him look more real.
I googled it. I would add fur on his tail and little tufts in his ears, plus paint his eyes black with a tiny white dot and cover them with uv resin for shine. I'd add matte mod podge to his nose for a little shine (it's called matte but it's more like satin).
Love the sequin drawer pull, I'm going to use that idea, thanks☺
You’re welcome 😊 Enjoy!
Such a cute table! 😃
Thank you! 😊
Pretty work! I love how the nightstand turned out. Love the color too! Happy Valentine’s Day! ❤
Thank you! You too!
So pretty!
Thank you! 😊
I never get tired of your reverse tricks!😃 I love your Dollar Tree makeovers. ❤
Thanks so much 😊
This turned out so lovely! The drawer really pops!
Thank you :) Adding a little piece of paper is so simple but makes a big difference.
I love how creative you are, it really helps spark some creativity in me. I love the turned legs, I got some of those in a pack of scrap wood from eBay and as I wasn't going to be using them on stairs i made bed posts from them
Clever! That's a great idea
Great idea repurposing a piece of cheap furniture into something that looks totally high end! Using wooden balustrades for table legs it gives such a great effect. Can't wait to see the next video🙂
Thank you :) The next video will be my simplest Dollar Tree flip but it's such a great look.
This took so much patience and time that she started off single and by the end of it all she was engaged. 🎉
😆😆😆 That's hilarious!
i made the 2 dressers into a dining room hutch with glass doors. and the desk i made into a desk that opens drawer you should get the bird house packets i got 3 of them and i used the wood out of them
That's so clever! Great job
very nice! thank you for your concise instructions.
My pleasure :)
So nice!
Glad you like it!
Love them..those are great for legs. What a cute lil' side table🥰 Now I would call this being efficiently crafty!!😘
Thank you! 🤗
Just found you and I LOVE your inguinity!
Yay! Welcome to my channel :) There are so many videos for you to catch up on.
Better makeover than what I did with the same piece! It’s terrific!
Thank you :) This is my favorite Dollar Tree piece to redo.
so expect to see this color a lot on my channel 😂
You've been warned 😆
Luckily it's a beautiful color! 🤗
❤️❤️❤️
Thank you 😊
OH to have a dollar tree in my country
My next Dollar Tree flip is something you could easily build from scratch without the desk. I'll include the dimensions in the description.
@@queencityminis I will look forward to that thank you
Question: do you notice a difference between the paint for minis and other paint? I’m guessing it doesn’t show brush marks, but is there anything else?
A suggestion I have is to layer a few of the same sequins instead of cutting out paper to back the hardware. Might be easier for the same effect idk. I really like how you say “if I were to make this again, I would…” because I always do that myself after a new project.
In fact, I was inspired to try a kit. It was just one of the mass-produced ones from somewhere in China but I enjoyed it so much. I wish I had someone to share my little workarounds with, for the really impossible bits. And also for my added details and mistakes. It’s a little scene inside a tiny vintage TV. It was way smaller and harder than I thought.
I definitely notice a difference between the Vallejo paints and my cheap acrylic paints. They have more pigment, but they're thinner. The white looks a lot more opaque with just one layer. You need less paint and get better coverage. They seem to dry a lot faster, which is why people use wet palettes with them. I use a tiny amount at a time.
😍🥰👏👏👏

Oh that didn't go the direction I thought it would. When you showed the ballister I thought you were going to cut off some of the top, but not sure what the measurements are. Is it too tall to be a nightstand now? And even that depends on what era you're looking at. When I was a kid beds were closer to the ground and now they're really high, have to climb up to get in them. Not sure why that is
It's technically not too tall, but it is depending on the bed. It's the same height as my real life nightstand. It's too tall to be a sofa side table.
@@queencityminis were you aiming for sofa?
What's the blue plastic contraption that's holding the legs in place, at 4:22? It looks very handy!
It's a clamp! I received a few of them as a Christmas gift.
what is the blue tool on 4:23 ?
amzn.to/3uEf6mG
They're little clamps. They really come in handy!
