I've experienced and been told by several businessmen that they are uncomfortable speaking or working with females, especially married females. It stems from their cultural background (my experience was with Asian males). It's not that they don't want to, but they aren't used to it and don't want to give ill intentions to your husband. I'm wondering if Farah's experience at the farm might have been in that same situation. If Farah's husband told the manager to speak directly to Farah instead, the manager would feel some kind of approval is ok. I was only made aware of this because these men felt it was a safe room to discuss the topic.
