Makes you wonder how many folks were put off by these videos and cost the RV industry customers. RVing across the US was a bucket list item for me, not anymore.
I’ve been an rv tech for 5 years. I’ve build several custom builds from the ground up and I’ve been full time in an RV since 2019. The only way to get a quality RV is to build it yourself or have one build by somebody that is competent. There is no such thing as a quality RV that’s built by an OEM on the assembly line. I fix the problems that are highlighted in these videos on a daily basis and I really feel for the customers who spend all of their money on something that they expect to be quality and end up with nothing but a constant headache. Even worse is the lack of confidence to take the coach out and actually enjoy it. It’s hard to enjoy camping when you are worried about what’s going to fail next.

We just bought our used 2024 RV home yesterday and are very satisfied with it’s condition because we hired an independent inspector. It made me smile inside during our final walkthrough listening to the “frustrations” of the dealership staff coping with all the things, major and even very minor that they had to address before we finalized the deal. Follow the advice of creators like Liz and Rigor Repair and HIRE AN INSPECTOR no mater how new your prospective purchase is. It’s sad listening to stories like these of people shopping for RVs like it’s pre-2020. These people want your money and they don’t care about you. Please protect yourself.
This channel has got to stop saying get an inspection like it's going to fix the s***** materials used. These Rv's are not going to last past the warranty period for long.
Pre-purchase inspections might uncover some obvious problems. But problems due to overall shoddy workmanship/materials may be difficult/impossible to spot at the time of the inspection. Intermittent problems with heating/cooling equipment, laundry equipment, elusive water leaks, entertainment systems, faulty slide-outs, etc are unlikely to be spotted while the RV is on the lot without tearing the whole unit apart. In the absence of a national lemon law for RVs, it seems buying a new RV is a very expensive crap shoot.
Well said! In fact, our dealership did a hand-off to us, showing us that everything worked, then after we drove off and got it parked at home, the furnace wouldn't work. Turned out to be a wire that came loose during the drive home. Dealership fixed it, but we missed out on camping that season.
Well said & I agree! Some problems can be more hidden & not show up till the unit starts being used. It’s shameful, shoddy workmanship & lack of quality control. And shiesty dealers passing things off . . :-(
If that rv was new, then it sat on dealer lots for 2.5 years. Two winters in Alberta, snow & ice in freeze/thaw conditions could have easily caused the cracks around some of the roof vents. So no question, they should have had it inspected.
Thank you Liz for helping folks like this. Every industry has standards that protect consumers...except the RV industry. Who is greasing hands in Washington that allows the RV industry to build such crap?
I bought a used 2017 Forest River Wildwood XLT a year ago and I started having problems IMMEDIATELY. I purchased from dealership but no warranty because the warranty would only cover parts not labor. I've had leaks from the 4 corner seams that go from the roof to the bottom of the camper outside. Then realized the room is coming unglued from a corner near the door. Incredibly disappointed in Camper World in Sherwood Arkansas. I feel Forest River is doing shoddy work. And they are supposed to be a leading name in the RV world. I wish this family luck.
I'm not sure even an 8-hour walk-through would have discovered the problems this couple has found. This is pure negligence on the part of the manufacturer and dealer. Larry from Texas
That's what i was thinking, a lot of this stuff may not have been immediately apparent unless you lived in it for a few days? Brutal quality control, unreal that a new unit is in a shambles like this.
You’d be surprised what a good professional inspector can find when they spend 4-5 hours inspecting and testing systems that normies would miss. Experience repair techs are familiar with particular manufacturers, and their issues. Ours was worth every penny we paid him and even saved us from a rig with a major issue he spotted just looking at the dealer photos and the ones we took on our visit, and he did that for $0 and no visit. We couldn’t be happier with the RV we purchased with his counsel, and the one that we dodged.
I think it is so important to do Canadian content like this. It shows international issues... not just USA. The RV owners seemed fair. I would be mad too.
There should really be a secret behind-the-scenes investigation of how much care and and effort all the workers at some of these RV companies put into their products. I suspect that if you saw their behind-the-scenes work ethic and work quality you would never want to buy an RV from these companies.
Just watch AZ Expert Look at the Winnebago roof shortcuts They are literally taking 2x2 "lumber" and splitting it in half and using it structurally In addition to scanning together scraps to use for studs and joists Missing them with the fasteners etc It's not like Indiana is one of our top states for best and brightest. These are 8th grade dropouts, with seven fingers from industrial accidents, putting these six-figure boxes together
These buyers are getting raked over the coals. I'm glad they have you to help where you can. We have 2014 Grand Design Solitude, and have been very happy with it. Pre pandemic and one of the first years made helped. I think the first ones, they had something to prove, so the quality is up there. Thanks for your videos. Safe travels.❤
Let me tell you all something I own and live in a 1997 Monaco Dynasty Barron 40' class a diesel pusher. It was repainted with redesigned decals. This motor home is 100% mechanical meaning no digital nothing. not even on the engine the motor has mechanical fuel injection with a turbo. . List now I travel everywhere and I stay for weeks even a month is some places in the rain and many times in the snow, in the five yrs I have owned this motor home NOTHING has ever broken NOTHING !!! not 1 single thing . Everything works perfectly the roof never has leaked because it is 1 piece fiber glass it does not even have a front or rear cap it is a true 1 piece fiberglass roof all 40' of it. all the electrical has worked flawlessly and the plumbing to. It has plenty of power going up hill or down hill and handles the road easily . it on a road master chassis with 4 airbags yes 4 airbags . The leveling system is hydraulic .the tires are 22.50s and the diesel generator is on a slide in the front and it to works perfectly. The amount of storage underneath is more than any motor home made today even more than a new 45' motor home with big slid trays and tall compartments all the way through from 1 side to the other the top of all the compartments is flat without any thing in the center like all the new class A diesel pusher have . The engine in any temperature starts instantly even after weeks of not being started just turn the key wait 10 0r 15 seconds and not even 1 revolution and it is running as soon as you turn the key instantly. The wood cabinets are so solid and so big with all rounded edges on every last bit of the 96 lineal feet of cabinetry. . I have disconnected all the hoses on the gas heater box and capped them off with 3 inch caps made just for that at a dollar and a half each and I cut and installed 1 8 inch pipe with a turnable 45% angle out of the heat box. This motor home can be warmed from 40% to 80% in a few minutes . I have also install a diesel heater outside that blows in and feeds of my diesel tank with an extra 12 volt 1 psi fuel pump . The carpet has been changed to tan and blue checker board 24x24 tile squares on top thick pad . That is all I have ever done to this motor home the ceramic tile is all perfect. the vinyl wall paper is all perfect even all the leather chairs are perfect including the drivers seat and passengers seat the dashboard is perfect and the sliding doors are built like a brick shet house solid as a rock and they roll like a dream. I could never be happier with any other motor home than this one. 42 gallon propane tank too. I payed $28,000. It came with brand new tires and brand new brakes. It has aluminum acoa rims and new roku tvs that came with it. If RV parks do not want to let me in OH Well I will go elsewhere. Sincerely AWhiteManInMaine.
99% of those RV owners suffering with crappy builds aren’t being helped because they aren’t highlighted on social media, those are the ones I feel bad for. Liz can only cover so much and is doing an amazing job
My biggest advice is quit paying these ridiculous prices! I bought a 2005 Jayco Designer 5th wheel for $29,000 14 years ago and it is in better condition than all these $150,000 ones!
@ No one should be buying newer used RV’s after watching these videos! If people quit buying these overpriced RV’s they will lower the prices and maybe start producing a better quality. A fool and their money soon part ways.
I just wanted to take a moment to thank you for all the fantastic work you do on your channel. You’ve done an incredible job helping people understand the ins and outs of RV life. Your advice and insights have been invaluable, and I’ve learned so much. After following along, I’ve come to the conclusion that an RV might not be in my future, but I deeply appreciate how much clarity you’ve brought me through your content. Keep up the amazing work-your passion and knowledge truly make a difference! 🙂
Sad to hear the same issues with poor manufacturing and poor quality technicians that caused the delay of making it right! Good going Liz on assistance to the customer.😅🎉
To be fair, I bought my Little Guy Mini Max from Allan Dale in Balzac and I have found them to be very good about addressing any issues. My unit is a 2022 and I took it across Canada and came back with some issues which were addressed by AD under warranty. I haven't had any issues since in the last 2 years. I actually feel they are pretty responsible. I have never heard of your kind of RV.
Liz, you are the RV angel! Without you bringing the light of social media onto these horribly built RV's, the dealers and manufacturers aren't motivated to correct their own mistakes! This is especially difficult for folks whose units are stationary and who live in them full time, it's their home! And a big lesson: new or used, before buying, GET A QUALIFIED THIRD-PARTY INSPECTION!
As a matter of fact, me and a friend stopped by a dealer today and looked at a JayCo pull behind camper. They were asking $17,000 and some change for it. The first thing I asked him was what's the year and when was it built. He said it was around a 2021 or 2022 and I told him NOT ONLY NO, BUT HELL NO. I've learned from your videos that's around the COVID era and RV's were mass produced and manufacturers didn't care about quality they just wanted to get them out the door.
I have recently noticed that a couple manufacturers are taking steps to improve quality. However, the majority continue to miss the quality control mark during production. Bottom line Liz - you are making some progress, but don't let up on the pressure! Thank you!
I hate to say it, but I have delt with Allen Dale when they were under their previous name in Airdrie Alberta. Complete lack of caring, complete lack of competency, could never get anything out of them for warranty. One year into ownership of our Work and Play 44ft live in unit, a fantastic fan, back up camera, stereo amplifier, and ladder showed up. Funny thing is, none of that was on our warranty list. THey asked for it all back, and I said I will happily do that once they make us whole on our warranty claims. I then found our that they were closing shop. About 6months later I get an email from Allen Dale, same owner I delt with in Airdrie, con gratulating themselves on the new dealership.... still no warranty. These guys are a prime example why so many people dont want to deal with RV dealers.
We need help . 2011 New Mar DuchStar. We had and accident ended up with water in the engine now insurance refused payment . Anything we can do to fight this
To anyone who is considering living full time in an RV this should be a lesson in the many steps you need to take before you buy that perfect dream RV. To often you see the new shiny RV and can't wait to buy it. We've been rv'ing long enough to admit I've rushed to buy when I should have done more research/inspecting the unit. Going full time or just part time also these rigs need to be gone over and over. Warranties usually don't cover coming to you to fix the issue and if your full time you don't have a lot of options as far as where your going to live while repairs are made. Ten years ago we met a host couple at one of our favorite parks who had sold everything and went full time seven months before. Right away they started having issues with their brand new 5th wheel but because they were full time they didn't have the option to drop the rig at the dealer and live elsewhere. That ment the rv tech had to come from the dealer to them. The warranty issues were covered by the manufacturer warranty but not the service call which cost them $175 each time. At that time they had already paid for 8 service calls which was a real nightmare. At one time they even had the front cap removed for three days all while sitting in the campground. I can't imagine what a cluster that was. Hard to imagine these constant repairs being done in the park period. We kept in touch with them for awhile and after three years of constant repair issues they gave up full time and moved back into a house. I don't know the extent of all the issues they had but it would seem to me that three years of it always broken would have been a good candidate for a buy back.
if u look at a lot of her videos you would realize almost all of the rvs with issues are the huge size ones . it looks like the smaller rvs under 25 foot dont have any problems
@@Bookworm214-y3d Not true. I owned a 22' brand new Winnebago Micro Minni and it had multiple issues right off the showroom floor. You don't hear about the smaller RVs as much because people tend to suck it up and deal with it when they pay $20-40K, but when you're spending over $100K, you tend to want something to be done about it. And of course the larger RVs have more issues because they have more parts and larger plumbing and electrical systems. The lightweight cheaper parts do become a problem over time in all RVs regardless of size, but they shouldn't be falling apart from day one.
The RV dealership Saw a sucker!! Yep always protect yourself, always!! Get the best inspection you can get. Dealership and RV manufacturer lies with a straight face. That's just the facts. Keep up the good work!!!
All i can say Is WOW, talk about not caring about your product or the customers,I know we say this everytime Liz posts one of these stories but this is just insane!! when people buy a home especially a BRAND new home regardless of the price (and these homes are very expensive) you deserve a clean worry free environment. I will say this its only a matter of time before some one gets seriously hurt or killed by this incompetence, either a fire happens or someone suffers a heart attack fixing something that should never have broken or it falls apart while being driven and causes a severe accident,These RV companies better wake up.
So RV issues aren't just a US problem, it's happening in Canada too. You sure got my attention with this video, I live in Airdrie, right next door to Balzac. Was this damage the result of the hail storm we had earlier this year?
The RV is still made in the United States. If it was storm damage the dealer and manufacturer would have said so, and they did not. It's just another poorly manufactured product made right here in the USA.
At this point if you buy a current gen RV expect to have issues. I’ve considered getting a 1998-2000 Safari Serengeti, those things are bulletproof, well constructed and you can do interior upgrades yourself.
Those Safaris are super sweet! Another option is buy from a small independent RV maker. I highly recommend Oliver Trailer, SimpleCamp and others like Coach House and Bigfoot.
Maybe it is time for RVs to have a section in the International Building Code and have compliance with the code be mandatory. I am starting to believe that the industry does not want to admit to themselves that they are selling homes, not trailers you camp out in for a few weeks a year.
An inspection might help but until the “pedal hits the road” and actual usage your chance of uncovering mistakes, coverups, and internal production problems will not uncovered. Rv laws might help to ensure quality and warranty are truly and decisively in place as self protection for the consumer. Common sense needs to be rule one, I feel sorry for these people, but truly if you spend that type of money…you fall under the adage “they have more money then sense” ⚰️
Ever time I see your videos of customers complaining about new RV problems, I have to ask why didn’t they get an RV inspection? Sorry if this sounds negative but your channel has hammered this point of getting a RV inspection, and still buyers fail to heed this warning.
Apparently the word has not gotten out yet. And it's not just about getting an RV inspection. It's about the RV industry itself needing to put out a better product and become more customer focused. Thanks for watching.
Great results again from Miss Liz. As I was watching and you were talking about how quick the dealer and manufacture responded my cartoon bubble had a picture of Miss Liz with giant biceps flexing LOL.
I watch your videos to support what you’re doing. I’m not an RV owner, but have heard the same stories from friends that are. Keep up the great work. My sympathy goes out to the honest people that buy these units. I’m always amazed how they keep their calm after the h*ll they go through.
I had a new Columbus 320RS. Because of various quality issues, it was returned to the factory 4 times. The final required replacement of part of the side due to severe ply separation. The last 2 trips to the factory I delivered and picked up the unit. With all due respect, besides having a lemon, some manufacturers will not cover units used for full time stationary living. I wish them luck. Oh, we sold our Columbus and purchased an Airstream. Happy now.
My experience with the dealer post delivery inspection of my new 5th wheel . dealers PdI inspection sheet was all checked off and sighed as being done. (all good)I decided to do my own inspection prior to taking trailer off lot. found control rod for one set of window blinds missing. Found a tool from the factory on the roof. Started A/C unit and sawdust blew out of the vents all over the interior. If you cant do inspection hire a third party. another Tip, view resent full timer You Tube videos, if their rv is 5 years old or older . Its probably a better made rv brand. Ask them in comments to rate. Most full timers change RV's before they need tires replaced. So your going to need to view a few vid's lol.
Liz, can you review the disclosures that unsuspecting buyers sign that say the dealer assumes no warranty. I'd get a lawyer before getting an inspection.
Most people need to understand that these trailers are trying to do many thing. They are complicated pieces of equipment. Ruggedization is not the top priority. If you want something rugged, it in most cases requires additional weight. The old saying goes you can use steel or aluminum but at half the weight but double the cost. In these units, plywood is not your friend but it is cheap. I wish these people the best of luck with this trailer.
Allen Dale is a very popular dealer in alberta canada. theyve manufactured utility and stock trailers for decades and are very famous for their horse trailers. you wont hear any complaints about their horse trailers etc. Theyve only recently gone into house trailers, but they may b a retailer of them and not a manufacturer of them. they do have a good reputation, so the clients shd get everything resolved.
Buying an RV is ten times worst than buying a new car. Anyone buying an RV today and doesn’t get an independent inspection should cry when stuff goes wrong especially days or weeks after the purchase. If the dealer or salesperson lies just once walk away.
Is there a scam between Dealers, Mfg, Financial institutions? If your RV immediately has problems and you are paying monthly payments yet RV is in the shop more than RV can be used, is there legal remedies when the financial institutions turn blind eye to the dealers knowing people have to still pay for a piece of junk?
What would I do??? First of all, RESEARCH, RESEARCH, RESEARCH!!! Now, if you've been living in a cave, then maybe you never heard of Liz!!! It's not like she's incognito with her help for those being wronged!!! Yes, people shouldn't have to be this way, forking out so much for their rigs, but as you can see...!!! LIZ, YOU ARE SUCH A GODSEND FOR THE WRONGED!!! I wish Ralph Nader could meet you!!! He would be so impressed!!! (Oh, I still haven't forgotten your laugh❤!!!)
Hi Liz, I think it’s time for RV dealers to automatically offer third party independent inspections to the consumers. This will reduce and possibly eliminate the headaches between the dealer and the customer. Of course, the dealer can always initiate a third party inspection on their units and provide a certificate accordingly to the customer. The cost may have to be absorbed by the customer in the end, but it may be something well worth the expense. Just-my-two-cents. Keep doing good work. Mike

Not sure if that will help her, as she needs people to buy defective rv's...
cheaper to just rent a motel...
It would be much better to buy a slightly older model that you get inspected as by then most issues have been worked out i would think.

This channel has got to stop saying get an inspection like it's going to fix the s***** materials used. These Rv's are not going to last past the warranty period for long.
Where would we look for an rv inspector? TIA
Does he crawl under the rig and pull back the Underbelly to see what's not right.
We need to make RVs Great Again!!
Oh how original 😮
Love it!
😃
Stop buying PERIOD
@ So did you stop buying also ?
So true. The RVIA also brags how they are 'self regulated'. They are laughing all the way to the bank.
Indeed. Yes, I had some Canadians on just a couple episodes ago. But in both cases they were in US made RVs. Thanks for watching.
Forest River is a US company. They just now make crappy RV's in Canada too.
There should really be a secret behind-the-scenes investigation of how much care and and effort all the workers at some of these RV companies put into their products. I suspect that if you saw their behind-the-scenes work ethic and work quality you would never want to buy an RV from these companies.
Just watch AZ Expert
Look at the Winnebago roof shortcuts
They are literally taking 2x2 "lumber" and splitting it in half and using it structurally
In addition to scanning together scraps to use for studs and joists
Missing them with the fasteners etc
It's not like Indiana is one of our top states for best and brightest. These are 8th grade dropouts, with seven fingers from industrial accidents, putting these six-figure boxes together
Isn’t it lovely that we haven’t had well built since 2021. But these RV Resorts won’t let a rig 10 years old in.
Most RV campgrounds/resorts will waive the 10 yr as long as you send them pictures.
Thank you Liz for helping us out
Thank you!!!
They better pray that warranty is going to be honored down the road!
And it sounds like one extra year is nowhere near long enough.
Most important rv station on YT, go Liz🎉
So glad I bought a used RV with an all aluminum roof.
Mine is all aluminum all over
These buyers are getting raked over the coals. I'm glad they have you to help where you can. We have 2014 Grand Design Solitude, and have been very happy with it. Pre pandemic and one of the first years made helped. I think the first ones, they had something to prove, so the quality is up there. Thanks for your videos. Safe travels.❤
Thank you, Liz for all you do !! Glad to see you're back in the RV.😊
Great Job Liz! I hope the issues with this unit are repaired satisfactorily when the tech comes out.
Yep!! Thanks for watching. Have a great weekend!
RVs, I'm done. Appreciate what you do here.
Thanks again for your help Liz
Great job Liz the dealer should cover all the damage 🤬👍
Thank you Corey, hope you are well!
@ I am my wife and I have recently moved from Vancouver to Saskatchewan and purchased 3 acres of property and retired we are so happy thanks
The brochure looks nice
My biggest advice is quit paying these ridiculous prices! I bought a 2005 Jayco Designer 5th wheel for $29,000 14 years ago and it is in better condition than all these $150,000 ones!
Yes, the prices have gone crazy high! Thanks for your comment, and for watching.
Absolutely
I'm in the process of buying either 2 Class A or a Class A AND a Class C
I'm ONLY looking at coaches pre 2002... for simplicity and reliability sake
Yes but if people don't buy new there won't be used to purchase later.
Can you imagine all the other issues that would come up if this was actually towed on a regular basis! I hope you have a favorable outcome.
The moral of these infamous RV stories, is simply not to even consider buying one. Problem solved.
Thank you!
I just upgraded to a 2014 camper. I don't advise buying newer than that.
Great work, Liz.
Thank you for sharing
'Quality Control' RIP Advise everyone to get an inspection done on NEW and used units! Money well spent!
You said it! It's a must these days for sure. Thanks for watching.
And it was stationary! Imagine if they were driving at highway speeds? Unbelievable, but true....so sad and outrageous!
Exactly! Had problems sitting still. Sure hope the RV industry wakes up and does better. Thanks for watching
PDIs don’t mean squat in the RV business.
Agreed. Thanks for watching
remember PDI stands for PROBABLY DIDN'T INSPECT!!!!!!!
So sorry, and thank you for sharing this!
Keep going Liz! You are a force to be reckoned with!
@@scottmichaels12It really saddens me to watch and hear your story. We get better consumer protection buying a coffee maker from Canadian Tire.
Great Job Liz!
I love it when they tell you about the cedar lined closets when they are actually photographed panels Lires
Maybe it is time for RVs to have a section in the International Building Code and have compliance with the code be mandatory. I am starting to believe that the industry does not want to admit to themselves that they are selling homes, not trailers you camp out in for a few weeks a year.
2008 Puma 5th wheel bought new for $25k. Still in excellent condition. Only things replaced have been the hot water heater and converter. That’s it!
These people handed 150k over to people they knew nothing about. That's insane.
Great results again from Miss Liz. As I was watching and you were talking about how quick the dealer and manufacture responded my cartoon bubble had a picture of Miss Liz with giant biceps flexing LOL.
Ha, I love it!! Thanks again, Dan!
@@LizAmazing You are welcome.
I watch your videos to support what you’re doing. I’m not an RV owner, but have heard the same stories from friends that are. Keep up the great work. My sympathy goes out to the honest people that buy these units. I’m always amazed how they keep their calm after the h*ll they go through.
Keep up the good work Liz
Well done and thank you ❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much, Steve! I'm glad you're here!
@LizAmazing 👍👍👍
This is important information for Unsuspecting buyers. People are being fleeced.
You are an angel Liz
Keep amazing Liz
Great job liz it's due to you they got the industries attention
Has the builder and dealer no shame? No. As long as they get the money they don't care unless they are held accountable.
Fantastic Liz-you are helping ALL of us with your advocacy!!!!
Indeed. I truly believe I am empowering other RVers to see what is possible. Thank you!!
Exactly why are these people sinking large amounts of money for an RV?? I don't get it 😮😮
I can not be certain but I would suspect that the unit wasn’t brand new and was a customer return.
Happy now.
TY Liz! now you're international!!
Yes, this is probably the third video I've done featuring Canadians! Thanks for watching!!
I see the 'brand new junk' has made it north of the border also. This thing would have needed about four 12 hour inspections to catch all this.
Please keep posting this type of content
well done Liz
Thank you, Steve! Have a nice weekend!
WOW! These issues these people that are having. It seems like the same issues but different people.
Good job again Liz !!!
Great video as usual sweetie. Thank you for all you do for RVers
Liz, these guys are my actual neighbors. This is beyond resolution. Please like and subscribe.
And here we go again! Thank God we have Liz to give a hand! Great job Liz!❤
Thanks Val, I'm so glad you're here!
I say the folks should get a buy back. I’m not buying a forest river!
Once it's repaired, I think they should be ok. They aren't asking for a buyback, just things made right. Thanks for watching!
The are going to "patch" the roof for the winter. Are they going to "fix" the roof next summer?
Liz is an angel!
Another awesome video! Thanks Liz!
Thank YOU for being here!
Really sucks they have a brand new unit with a patched roof. Wouldn't that de-value it?
It's a car not a house. Loses value the minute you drive it away.
@dudettegirl3261 A car with no motor?
Love your show Liz.
Ruh Ro, Liz is back.
The lack of quality on units is ridiculous. Even the workers should have common sense to see when something doesn't fit or correctly work.
Some of these issues like the AC sound like user errors. Run it too cold when it's too hot it's going to freeze.
Or low on refrigerant
Forest River should buy this unit back BS on fixing it. With all the issues its never going to be right.
Good job, Liz !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mike
