  • My first time ever taking part the most popular Christmas Tradition of the Philippines, Simbang Gabi. We woke up extremely early to attend the first mass of Simbang Gabi, admire the beautiful Christmas decorations and to eat the best bibingka ever.

I'm Susie and I was born in Hungary. Although I used to live in the Philippines for 4 years, I spent an unexpectedly long time back in my home country due to the Pandemic.
2022 has brought the change I've been waiting for and now I'm back in the Philippines to further explore the local life and the country's beautiful destinations, food, and culture.
Thank you for joining me on my adventures!

Ty S&J for sacrificing sleep, that last part of the night sleep is the deepest & sweetest to me. Your local church was beautiful esp that 1st shot & I also luv the parols display. Highlighted each design. I was hoping to see the plaza lights at night as you previously showed them during a day trip. My fave also carabao. You captured the peace & stillness. The lady bibingka vendor has THE BEST SMILE. 🕯️🕯️🕯️🌟

I missed going to Christmas Traditional Simbang Gabi in the Phillippines, ten early morning mass 'till Christmas day. Your Plaza Christmas lights are so pretty, my favorite is the carabao image. By the way, you guys look good together when you sit on that part moon shape lights. Thank you for taking us with you to the early morning mass. God Bless You and your loved ones.

What a beautiful church and so nicely decorated, too! I love how the whole area is well lit giving such a festive vibe. And the best part is having some of that delicious bibingka. Too bad there was no puto bumbong (not sure about my spelling) like the one you had in your past vlog (the purple dessert).
Maybe next time join the Zumba group to wake you up. 😅

Simba to zumba haha. Interesting to see Cabanatuan City and the plaza in the early morning and during the 9-day simbang gabi season-it looks really clean and peaceful during the mass itself with everyone inside. Since we haven't been there in years, we see that Cabanatuan City center itself has also changed and it's truly for the better. We're envious for that freshly-made Cabanatuan bibingka. Keep safe, Susie and Jonathan!

I dont think so.. in the old days it is called ‘simbang gabi’ because the mass is actually done at night.. unfortunately martial law happens. And besides we have a word like ‘madaling araw’ and ‘bukang liwayway’ for specific time of the day. Just saying..peace y’all✌🏼
