Hi good luck rebuilding the car hope to see the finished product soon..hope to see a great KITT replica from you...right now i'm dreaming of building my own KITT but first i need a good working T-Top...
It will also look really good with tinted windows. I had 1 of these but it was 2 years younger but I wrecked mine back in '96. My insurance company totalled the car , I was told by the adjuster that the car could be fixed and put back on the road. I told him flat out " That is what you are going to do with it. I also had 1 of those loud car stereo systems in mine also. I still miss the car and I wish I never let the insurance company take it
@SuperSaxDude101Thank You very much. Surprisingly al this was done last spring and summer, but then again I had a lot of great people give me a hand when i needed it. I bought my first firebird for $200 and started fixing it up, then realized that if im going to do it, do it right, get the right car. Yes I did build the Plexiglas that is in the front bumper. again thank you for your comment
@jamesalessi1. Thanks for all your nice comments. I will say that in Season 1 KITT had a variation of 2 per side or 3 per side. depending on the episode you are watching. The producers were always changing little things on the car throughout the show.
There are several different suppliers. Knight Designs is owned by Billy Gunter and his work is amazing. Rob Louisell is like the father of the replica world. Do a google search for Knight rider parts. Good Luck and feel free to ask any questions
i never forget this car is more human that the new ford mustang kitt is new , have more options graphicals ,etc. but kitt was the first and is more sport.
@MickScarborough IT is titled KITT because ultimately that is what the car is going to be when I am finished. hence part 1 in the title. bilding these cars are expensive and take a lot of time. I would rather post what i have now, then wait all that time for when i am done. Also that video is still out of date I added somethings to it recently and I'll edit and re-post it as soon as winter is over here in Ohio. Thanks for the interest
Oh I can't wait till mine gets to that stage. I have some vids of him but they are old I will be uploading more soon. Dude get a nose....soon....that beautiful paint job, the black out on the back, a nose and scanner you would have a complet kitt on the exterior...what are you waiting for????? JK. Love the car though man and kudos for having great taste.
Their is a big difference in this car and the real knight kit . Kit has a sharper longer nose with 6 clear lights under the nose . And at the bottom of the nose is a pointy scoop . And the hood is built up in the middle almost like a v shape . . Good spray job but u could have worked more on building the front up . U left out the 6 clear lights , and just below were the red light moves side to side , should be built up as well .
See my video " 1993 Pontiac Firebird 3.4 V6 Test - Car Motor Show by Carlos Cunha - 16/10/2011" and you will see how is possible add a scanner without changes in the bumper...
One of the best KITT builds done. ok here's a familiar question -- where and name did you get the scanner/ light at? been looking for awhile and im running out of steam. Again great video and Great build
patrick mcglone U can get one from sid knight ask him on TH-cam or go to his website, he sells good LED scanners for $200, trust me they are worth it! Since they're LED u can leave it running all day without draining the batteries, its very screen accurate and it has different modes to chose from. Im sure you will like it!
Wow. Really? Well lets see, 50,000 original miles, T-Top Trans Am, MINT interior, Original Turbo Cast rims, no rust what so ever, hmmm, I wonder why I restored it. How is your restoration on you Trans Am coming????
That car is a thing of beauty. My Uncle owns a Black 82. Every time I look at it I think KITT.
My first car was an red 86! Man this brings back memories! she has 97,000 miles on her but she ran good! god i miss her so!

What were your steps for cleaning the rims?
Back then it was honestly industrial cleaner and nylon brushes. I just redid a set of new ones for my car and I had those media blasted this time
