Homeless hungry and scared at my witts end. Havent eaten in a few days and starving. If anyone could help me with literally a dollar or two it mean the world idk what to do anymore I'm scared :( $Robertoc1992
This was one of my favorite episodes in the entire series. I didnt think Silver had this much depth to his character (or that much POWER), unbelievable. Thanks for all the work you put into this
Same, I wish that Nintendo could pull the other characters more instead of always bring back Red and Blue, in my book the gen3 and 4 are the strongest protagonists.
I was really hoping he would appear in the last game with the whole rainbow rocket thing since it was giovanni's "come back" would have made some interesting story if silver popped up.
I want a vote for Karen, love her apparent mentality when it comes to pokemon and seems a different kind of dark type trainer than we have seen after her
For some reason, ever since I saw the Weavile on Silver's and Cyrus' team, it instantly became one of my favorites. The smirk it has on it's official artwork just adds to that.
I hope that Non Team Rainbow Rocket Giovanni doesn't get Lugia in Pokemon Masters. If he does get Lugia, this will give Silver complete chaos as having 2 versions of his dad having Legendary Pokemon like he is in Pokemon Masters.
I don't know why people don't mention it but silver has a gengar and an alakazam so he must have a friend to trade with because you won't give two of your strongest pokemon to a stranger and expect that he/she will trade it back to you
Another note to Silver's growth as a character. In the double battle I swear he was using his Feraligatr's Aqua Tail to heal my Lapras. I was kind of under leveled and my dinosaur was taking a beating.
I have a headcannon that Giovanni uses the ace Pokémon from various Gym Leaders from Kanto that he stole, and his partner Ariana uses Silver's pokémon. Implying that Rainbow Rocket stole various Pokémon around the Kanto region and even stole Silver's team.
Absolutely my favorite rival and a top tier Pokemon trainer. Love this one as always Silph! Way to explore the backstory and lore of our misunderstood boi. On to Karen next! She demands it!
I always liked Silver's character because of his strong personality while being fragile. That little detail that you point out about Golbat evolving to Crobat through friendship was great. Great video!
On an unrelated note, just from seeing all the old artwork of Silver in this video from the second generation days, there's just something about the old artwork and art style Ken Sugimori had back then that's so much more charming than the artwork in the current day. I don't know if it's a bias I have towards the Johto games or something like that, but it stands out in my mind so much more than artwork from generation four and onward. It's around the Sinnoh games that the artwork was all consolidated and starts to bleed together in my head. I guess I would say today's Pokemon art style is too clean, or too idealistic, such that it doesn't capture the same feeling I used to have when I was younger. Maybe it's nostalgia, I don't know. I hope I'm not alone in saying this. As for the next True Power, I'm with the group on this one. Let's see Karen call for the manager.
Nas well considering that Charjabug got this treatment in SWSH then I would say yes then again knowing my luck gamefreak will probably find a way to screw me over 😅
Silver has always been my favorite rival. I loved how he grew as a character. I loved his backstory. I loved how hard his team was to beat(at least for me). He's so underrated.
Ah, Magnezone... that one holds a special place in my heart. Not only did I use one in my Ultra Moon playthrough, but Magnemite was also the first shiny I got in Pokemon Go.
Am I the only one to notice at 11:10 you showed Weavile's ability as Inner Focus, despite the fact Sneasel's Inner Focus would've been replaced by Pressure upon evolution?
Great Video, as always! Even (and i can see the rage comming xD) in the games i never realy liked Silver as a Character or his team. (Dont get me wrong i love ALL this Pokemon, but come one they could give him more Jotho Pokemon, like Skarmory Heracross, Ursaring (which he have in the Manga) Quagsire...) Also i would say lets finish Jotho, so Will or Karen next!
Going back to watch this before Silver's premier in the true power tournament. I saw Jeff the Spinirak highlighted in the first Silver battle on Victory Road. Fun easter egg to your Spinirak only challenge ;)
Love how Red's Best Team and Silver's Best Team mirror each other in terms of level spread, 1st and final picks are the same level, and type: Fire/Flying and Water(1st and Final pick), 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th picks all same level😁 Also gotta appreciate the type diversity for their Teams👍
Are you ever gonna do a "True Tournament"? where you pit all these true power versions of the trainers youve talked about against each other in a tournament format? I'd pay to see that
Since I was super shocked to see the Johto tournament start, I decided to give Silver's team a review, and wow is he fierce. He could have really done some damage in the Kanto tourney and he's my favorite in this one.
Masters explained quite well why he was deserving of Ho-Oh. For those who don't know, the legendary bird actually tested him in the Legendary Event storyline by showing itself to Silver while Ethan was in danger to see how he would react. Turns out Silver didn't want to attain more power if it meant allowing his rival who helped him reach his current level of power in the first place to be harmed. (Ethan brought a baby Cyndaquil on Pasio rather than a strong fully-raised Pokémon, hence why he got in trouble in the first place) So yeah... once he went to save Ethan, Ho-Oh pretty much stole the show, saved everybody and then joined Silver since it was clear he had developed his compassionate heart. He had a very wholesome conversation with Lance too. It was the greatest story event in Masters by far. (Althought I guess that's not saying much...) Still, I hope they keep that level of writing from now on.
It would be interesting if Kris and Lyra make an appearance in the Ho-Oh event where they help Ethan, Silver, Valerie and Lance find Ho-Oh and deal with Team Break. Once Silver gets Ho-Oh, what would Kris and Lyra react when Silver gets Ho-Oh.
Silver is tied with Wally for my second favorite rival behind N. And wow, I was NOT expecting Ho-Oh, but it just shows how much he's grown as a trainer and a person.
Slight problem: Silver arguably should've gotten a Lugia (the Silver Pokémon), not Ho-oh (the Gold Pokémon), as the Burned Tower was Lugia's roost, not the roost of Ho-oh, who lived in the other tower that didn't burn down...did Game Freak make a mistake?
4 years later, Pokemon Masters has given Silver both Feraligatr (I guess his canon starter, which funnily enough Silph was using as the stand in starter in this vid) as well as a SHINY MEGA TYRANITAR!!
Its really weird to me that in the Gen IV games; Silver still doesn't have Weavile or Magnezone on his final team. Still a great episode and I look forward to the rest of the Gen 2 Crew.
There is one Pokemon of his I would like to contest. Not the one you're expecting though. Sneasel/Weavile. It is implied that he stole it from someone (the man who gives you Shuckie says that a Red-haired kid stole one of his Pokemon and Sneasel cannot be found anywhere except Mt. Silver which is blocked off from people without 8-16 badges and Silver has it much earlier then that). Considering he tried to return his very first Pokemon, which would most likely be his closest companion, I feel like he would eventually try to return Sneasel.
I absolutely love silver, hands down a top 3 rival. Pokémon Masters does such a great job fleshing out characters, and Silver’s event was one of the best ones they have done. The only comment I have was that you used Masters Cannon to give him Ho-Oh but he is shown to still have an unevolved Sneasel in the game, but I’m not sure where Masters fits in the overall timeline so I guess it’s possible it could have evolved.
Great video as always. My only critique is you said that gengar has dark pulse for coverage. Dark and ghost types have the exact same offensive strengths, so it doesn’t actually help cover advantage over different types. Both are only super effective on ghost and psychic. You could consider, though, better against normal types.
Wow, I definitely didn't realize Silver's strength or character development. I also wonder if he'd learn to use megaevolution(provided that pokemon origins where Red discovers it is canon). After all, he's got two powerhouse pokemon capable of it
Actually we know three of Silver’s moves on Ho-oh! Sacred Fire, Overheat, and Solarbeam, as well as an ability that shows he intends to use it in sunny weather (but no Sunny Day oddly). That said, his Weavile is still a Sneasel when he gets Ho-oh.
A little off topic, but since the original gold/silver had you complete the elite 4 at relatively low levels for the series and the gyms in Kanto were barely stronger, I would like a rom hack of Johto where you go to Kanto before the Elite 4, ramping up the whole way until you face off against the E4 at lvl 90-100. I think that would be an awesome rom hack.
I think he temporarily gets control of Kyogre in Alpha Sapphire. I’d imagine the rest of the team would be Mightyena, Sharpedo, Crawdaunt, forgot the rest :(
12:48 - No need to use this point to justify Feraligatr as Silver's Starter. Pretty much all of the HGSS trailers with Silver in them had him wielding Totodile early on, in addition to further circumstantial evidence in official artworks to support the notion. In addition, Masters has Ethan and Lyra respectively partnered with Cyndaquil and Chikorita (while the Crystal-exclusive Kris and her Totodile are totally irrelevant to the HGSS Starter triangle), meaning that Silver gets Totodile by simple process of elimination. In terms of Generation 4 at least. On a related note, by doing some digging in the Gen II materials, you can find in promotions (aka 3DS re-release trailers and 1999-2000 GameFreak website art) for Gold & Silver and Crystal that Ethan and Kris each generally carry along Totodile for their respective terms as player character. This effectively locks Silver into having Chikorita as his Starter no matter what in terms of Generation 2.
I'm glad he doesn't include the manga. Silph could have just as easily mentioned his rival in Pokemon Masters, Ethan, uses the Cyndaquil line, which means he would've stolen Totodile anyway, and that's canon material through The Pokemon Company.
@@RWAsur Masters isn't even really upholding how much there trying to make the characters canon though. Ethan has always been seen with the Cyndaquil line, In the manga and in Raikou the Legend of Thunder. Winona's ace is Altaria so that just fits her in all honesty, not Pelipper. The Sinnoh trio is different though.. Dawn was seen in the anime with Piplup, but so was Berry- while in the Manga Berry had Infernape leaving Lucas with Torterra.
Tbh, Silver might just have the most "used" team of all of the characters you've covered so far based on Smogon. Almost all of his pokemon were UUBL at minimum and he even had two OUs and an Uber. Pretty solid stuff.
When silver is such a great character that one third of the video is about him as a trainer even before talking about his team. I truly think that silver took everything great about blue - being a hardcore badass rival - and gave it more depth and meaning, creating something even better. my favorite rival from my favorite games (the remakes actually). johto boy forever
Ho-Oh is a bit of a surprise. I don't actually remember reaching Silver in PS2 and thus don't remember him having Ho-Oh as a possible pick. That said, it's really amazing give that Lugia is a more preferred Legendary for the Player due to a more competitively viable typing in Psychic vs Fire, particularly Fourth Gen onward. Magneton to Magnezone is indeed something I would expect from Silver, wanting stronger Pokemon, and I love that this is a potential option for him. Same thing applies for Sneavel to to Weavile. It's wickedly powerful and I doubt Silver would pass up on that potential for his team. Gengar and Alakazam are in an interesting place with Silver's Team. Which one would he use for Mega Evolution? While there's no evidence of him having an knowledge let alone access to Mega Evolution, I'd say both are potential candidates should Pokemon and Gamefreak ever look into them. Gigantimax Gengar is also another potential from in Silver's Arsenal, should he be one of the few to be able to Gigantimax (let's say yes for the sake of argument), this gives the Mega Evolution Slot to Alakazam for a more rounded powerhouse without choosing just one form of further evolution. I love Feraligatr, and thanks to Gen 2's mechanics, it's ability is legit Sheer Force, allowing him some major power upgrades in Life Orb Sheer Force Dragon Dance Feraligatr to make people regret challenging it so casually. Crobat is arguably Silver's best Pokemon in terms of marking his progression as a character. Sure he can still be arrogant and rude, but because he has learned to trust his Pokemon and grown attached to them, he's realized a greater form of strength than just raw power alone and it shows. Silver is one of the best major rivals/characters in the Main Series games. I only wish he showed up in one of the Gen 5 Tournaments to show off more Pokemon related to his personality and growth as a trainer.

I really hope Silver returns some time soon in a main series Pokemon game, I wanna see how much he has developed and if we'll get to face this team
I was really hoping he would appear in the last game with the whole rainbow rocket thing since it was giovanni's "come back" would have made some interesting story if silver popped up.
I wanna see him actually appear with a ho-oh just to make it officially canon in the main continuity
@@jay96yagami27 does he have Ho-Oh??
@@litledevel15 in Pokémon Masters, which is Canon to the games, he does obtain Ho-Oh.
I like how you established Feraligatr as his starter. In the manga Gold took Cyndaquil and Silver stole Totodile. Crystal (Lyra) later took Chikorita
That's actually a really scary team in the right hands. Lots of coverage and a wide move pool and all the Pokemon are uu or higher.
I want a vote for Karen, love her apparent mentality when it comes to pokemon and seems a different kind of dark type trainer than we have seen after her

But, he's not a player... we know that some of the limits for evolving Pokemon seem to only apply to players rather than all people...
They are Internet friends, he must've used the GTS
I dont care who u cover next. I just appreciate the content
Lol can we talk about how he beat Silver with a Spinarak at 2:30
Let's get "Can I speak to your manager" KAREN next!
She is a different karen
That even has that quote
Crobat, Houndoom, Weavile, Magnezone....
Silver and Cyrus share a lot of similarities in their teams/somewhat in their development.

Another note to Silver's growth as a character. In the double battle I swear he was using his Feraligatr's Aqua Tail to heal my Lapras. I was kind of under leveled and my dinosaur was taking a beating.
Silver needs a new appearance especially after Rainbow Rocket!

In the Manga however, he was a pretty decent character.
Best rival 10/10 indeed, his Azalea battle could be pretty damn tough too if you didn't have good coverage against his starter

What is Professor Oak's TRUE POWER?!
I haven't given up yet! One day my perseverance will pay off!
I'm always with you my friend let's get this video
New video idea can you beat pokemon moon or sun with only a whisiwashi
Tbh, Silver might just have the most "used" team of all of the characters you've covered so far based on Smogon. Almost all of his pokemon were UUBL at minimum and he even had two OUs and an Uber. Pretty solid stuff.
He really wasn’t kidding when he said he only used powerful Pokémon.
A wild Gengar appeared and said “Algorithm”
Great work! Now it's time for Karen, or else she speaks to your manager 😂
How about Team Rocket's Best Possible Team? Jessie&James
Let’s do the best dark user Karen next
The most underrated character
