This is exactly the same as one of my OC's that people made fun of a lot, it's comforting to know that I wasn't just bad at oc making and "ripping off XGaster", but a simular creator character exists and is popular.
I really hope they continue on this one, it's a somewhat simplistic concept but it's done really well, I also love the banter, and that he can read the dialogue box lmao. I legit laughed at a few bits of the dialogue, it's fairly well written and has a few fun jokes in it.

well i think its possible to have more than 20 lv after killing sans, if you check stats you can see that you can get 49999 exp to LV up
This is indeed the case because in the Undertoad Mario Fight at the end you see the player reach level 21

I think when sans talk about max lv 20, i think he's referring to the maximum number of monster you can kill
Just think about it, there's probably more monster in the ruin (home city), snowdin, waterfall, the evacuated monster, mtt hotel, core and new home(the city part we got to see but cannot visit)
