Right, but we don’t have to let that take away from her accomplishments. She shouldn’t have had to worry about the social Mindset of their time anyway.
No, not the best. I'm not sure what you based that on, I know it's definitely not based on any quantitative comparison (e.g. we could consider the total bits of information as possessed by the potential author's papers, or, the total bits of information of papers of which cites the original, for example etc.). There are much, much bigger giants in the history of scientists and mathematicians, including John von Neumann, Einstein and Gottfried, considering we are blind to sex. Of course, the sex inequality may change in the future, and I'm sure many of the more liberal, secular historical figures may welcome sex equality in such fields. However, what you state is absolutely, completely not true, and does not respect the true geniuses of the mentioned few respectively.
theorist199729 Alright since we're doing this, I must first start by saying that if you take everything everyone says on the internet to the letter, you're gonna have a bad time. On another note though, the geniuses you mentioned though gargantuan in their fields, were not made to endure as many troubles as she has. Of course, there are better scientists out there, I don't deny it but her will and courage inspire more than any other, hence the "perseverance" in my comment. Makes sense?
Abdel aziz habiba So, perseverance is the reason why she is the "best." If that's the case, then anyone who perservered can be the "best." Clearly, that would qualify anyone even outside of science because those qualities can be applied in any facet of life. So, in essence the only "best" out there is entirely in the realm of subjectivity for each person. Of course, one must not take your comment too literally.
And we shouldn't be blind to sex. Especially not when comparing historical figures. Neither Einstein, nor von Neumann nor (I think you meant) Leibniz had to endure as much as Marie Curie. All of them were highly respected in their fields while Curie had to listen to scores of men talking about how she was unfit to do science because she was a woman (despite her two nobel prizes). Interestingly, Einstein took her side and defended her. Abdel aziz habiba was talking about good role models. Von Neumann is estimated to have had an IQ of 250, clearly not so much a "role model" as a "guy you could never hope to be". Curie showed perseverance and a strong will to achieve despite all odds, despite the fact that society conspired against her. In that sense, she definitely is a better role model even if you could agree on who was more important than her. Btw: The only one in your list that is arguably "greater" is Einstein. Curie's discoveries have proven to be more important for the 20th century than von Neumann's or even Leibniz's.

Stephen hawkins did greater miracle than marie curie go watch his biography he had survived a disease which has death rate of 100 percent before him but he se4vived that
That's because the unit of measurement for radiation count is defined by Becquerel, hence the unit of which was named after him. As you go deeper in physics, functions become much more complex into probability density functions. I'm not sure which level you are at, but the simplest would consider the exponential function of which relates radiation activity to a constant as derived from calculus. Marie Curie does not have a degree in mathematics, it is highly reasonable to assume her mathematics is not strong. Mathematics is usually the limiting factor, strong mathematics is usually required in order to establish predictable relationships between variables and constants as defined. You'd find that it is the people with mathematics that contribute the most in science.

It's a pity I have to explain it every time that Maria Curie was a Polish woman, that was just working and living in France because of the difficulties, lack of opportunities in Poland of her time and Russian occupation. Especially because she was the best woman scientist ever. It's similar with the pianist and composer Fryderyk Chopin, but he had at least a French father so it doesn't hurt that much. I hope, thank to your video, more and more people will know about the truth. So I'm waiting now for a video about Chopin :D
She got the french citizenship by marriage so she was a true french as well. This is also where she got her uni education that allows her to pursue her research.
Everytime i watch or listen about her, i get watery eyes. This all began when i watched about her in Albert Einstien's biography series- Genius. Those 5-10 minutes of Curies were so powerful to make an impact for so long. That scene when Pierre denied Nobel if Marie is also not given, was short but so powerful at many levels.
I'm so glad that you included her polish surname in the thumbnail, maybe it's not in the title, but I feel like people start to forget that she was polish.
@MGCINI MHLANGA actually the maria sklodowska curie cared herself. She started her every lecture by saying her full name. She was proud of her polish herritiage
I recently watched NatGeo's documentary on Einstein called "Genius". It had a scene which so abstractly contrasted the relation between Marie and Pierre Curie with Albert Einstein and his wife Mileva Marich. Where on one side Pierre protested when the Nobel Committee did not acknowlege his wife's work with him and rejected to accept the Nobel, on the other side Einstein who got so much help with Maths for his paper on Special Relativity, did not even think to put his wife's name as an acknowledgement, who just lost all her opportunities to become a physicist because of their child and housework. She later got into depression and became so angsty. The series truly changed my perspective towards the scientific era of 20th century.

Despite these few minor mistakes you did great job!
Thanks!
They also didn't menntion that she kept her Polish surname and didn't put it in the title
And I read, that she was blonde.
How and why the heck do you know all this
Was it Russia or German spoken at these schools? People forget that a lot of the Russia elite were Germans.
YAY!
Curie's probablymy absolute favorite Scientist (and couple) I know of!
I wonder how much genius the world is at a loss of because half of its population was prohibited from learning, researching and working. Marie Curie is definitely one of the most influential scientist for women but such a huge part of her success and recognition is her husband who got her the credit she deserved! In awe of this couple.
My school's science classes are named after scientists and I feel honored to be in Curie class. She truly made the world as we know it today
I really like the background music , it fits the video very well.
Ali mohamad yup, fits very well
When I think of the word "scientist", the person that comes immediately to mind is Marie Curie. Her story is so touching and inspiring.
Curie is a synonym for curious!
I was trying hard to hold back my tears until these damn ninjas cutting onions on the scene where Pierre stood up for his wife to share with him their first Nobel Prize. It shows pure love, respect, and professionalism. She's definitely an idol to me since I was a small kid. Salute!
Marie curie was a very talented lady
She was the inspiration of all the girls at that time
Do a video on Max Planck - father of quantum theory.
William Shakespeare Good idea!
There are several "fathers" of quantum mechanics, not just Max Plank, including, famously, Einstein and Schrodinger.
William Shakespeare @ Would love to see a video on me child !
What about Srinivasa Aiyangar Ramanujan? The most advanced and incomprehensible formulations on quantum mechanics that ever
seen the light of the day on this planet

Girls wanting to be a great scientist or any STEM related professional someday, Marie Curie is the inspiration you need, we all need. She truly is incredible!

Because Marie Curie has a ring to it and rhymes also Sklodowska is a mouthful.

We own so much to great humans like Marie. What a wonder women, with a courageous heart and a brilliant mind. Love
Every woman deserves a husband like Pierre Curie 😊 How supportive he was, during a time when women didn't have as much freedom as they have today 💛
Not some btchs who flirting with another woman's husband, They don't deserve anything and respect.
He was from Paris maybe thats why they already. Were modern
Hey, it would be nice if you included her full name in the title. After she married Pierre she kept her polish surname.
Maria SKŁODOWSKA-Curie she was Polish goddamit
She chose to be French.
Yes
@@mrjakobt She didn't chose to be French, she moved to France. She kept her Polish surname and wanted to be remembered as Polish. Moving to a country is diffrent than being from it.
@@mrjakobt she had to chose french citizenship because Poland was officialy Russia. And Russians killed Poles. God damn it. It's like about french, american and canadian Jews. They are still Jews. They would most likely experience neurodegenerative diseases later in life.

I agree, they would contribute more to science.

@@mihir1181 well if you are doing a video on specific historical person - it would be nice to at least pronounce their name properly. It's not discrimination - it's a level of respect to the person.
And I mean - they at least included her full name, so some respects are there (cause Skłodowska-Curie did a lot to point out her heritage to help Poland go back on maps), and I am also just mostly joking (which I thought was obvious from the form I used in my OC).
