    STILL one of the sickest drum solos of all time. 🤯🔥🔥🔥A drum solo with the band. That's some African bush holy trance. Branford is giving me baby Coltrane. That bassline. Kenny on them keys. The nasty, slow burn of this song. Sting is a bad man for getting these musicians 👏👏One of my fav Sting joints.🔥🔥🔥 I love every version.

    • @mancuniancandidatem
      @mancuniancandidatem 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@dme1016I think this version is heavily edited as is the Bring on the Night album version. There are a bunch of bootleg concerts from 85 -86 on youtube now.
      It sounds like they used this song as a bass and drum feature, and Omar and Daryl were able to go off and solo. At the end they go back into this vamp.
      It is probable that they cut this out for the movie or that, this is one of the early shows, and the solos were a later development during the tour.

    • @Auntkekebaby
      @Auntkekebaby 9 วันที่ผ่านมา

      PERIOD!!! 😆The extra plus is that the drum solo is in the movement with the band and not isolated. It's what I prefer. Search other performances with this line up. It gets even sicker.

      John Coltrane talked about this level of playing, long after music education had been completed, after countless hours of practice, thousands of jigs, where you could just shut your conscious mind off and solo without thinking about it. You can be sure Omar was thinking in terms of staffs and measures and notes even though all that was perfect for him.
