- Paul Edgecomb (Tom Hanks) walked the mile with a variety of cons. He had never encountered someone like John Coffey (Michael Clarke Duncan), a massive black man convicted of brutally killing a pair of young sisters. Coffey had the size and strength to kill anyone, but not the demeanor. Beyond his si… MORE

Seeing this now at 62 years old what affects me is old Paul talking about his friends who have died and having to be there to see it. It’s happening far too frequently to me and I can see how it will only get worse. Walking our own green mile. Sometimes, like for John , dying might be a blessing.
Also, John’s “I’m tired” speech is far too familiar. Tired of people being ugly to each other. Me too, John.
I saw it in the theater. The energy was palpable. It was one of the most engaged audiences of any movie I've ever seen. The audience gasped and shrieked when Percy stomped on Mr. Jingles and they cried out "you bastard!" when he told Dale there was no Mouseviille. They openly wept when Coffee was executed.
RIP Michael Clarke Duncan and
Harry Dean Stanton 🙏🏽
Man this movie gets me every time Michael Clarke Duncan should've gotten an Oscar.
My Brother, great reaction and you are very knowledgeable about the actors. In case you missed it, the man throwing the switch is Clint Eastwood's nemesis in the Outlaw Josie Wales. Yep, that's Redlegs 😉. Keep Rocking Bro, rayray ✊✌️🤙
awesome thank you !!!!!!!
If this movie doesn’t bring a tear or two to your eyes you must be dead. With this film, Shawshank and The Mist, Frank Darabont is the best Stephen King adaptor. 👍
Frank Darabont and Mike Flanagan are both great for Stephen King movies.
@@ElaMongrella agreed, as is Rob Reiner, but to me Darabont stands alone.
True, although David Cronenberg did a pretty great job with "The Dead Zone."
Haha I instantly start to judge when people don't cry during this movie
Such a powerful movie. This gets ppl everytime to tear up. Wish ppl watched this more & got the message.
Seen this movie dozens of times, ending gets me every time, especially now with Mr Clark/ Duncan passing so young
If someone doesn’t get teared up while watching the Green Mile,
that’s a Huge Red Flag!!🚩🚩🚩
Out of all the reactors man you easily got the best charisma, the best humor and just overall best commentary. Channel deserves way more subs for real.
I appreciate that
I always thought that since John is like an angel then Ms Morris was going through a possession that was slowly killing her. As he entered the house she screamed "keep him away" like she/it already knew this presence was there for it. How she got scared and felt understood. When John says "I see it." Which yes could've been the tumor but I also think he was talking about the spirit. Also many delivery priests I've talked with and exorcists I've researched all have claimed of the house shaking mid ritual/exorcism. Food for thought.
Having the right director for King's work is such a treasure.
yes
Great movie with a great Michael Clarke Duncan (R.I.P.) ! Thanks for this reaction ! 👍
Glad you enjoyed it
RIP MCD. Such perfect casting in this movie. I cant imagine anyone replacing any of the actors in this, including Mr. Bojangles. And a shout out to all the John Coffey's in this world. They may not have supernatural powers, but I firmly believe they exist. People who absorb the pain and suffering of others and help make this world a little more manageable to live in.
🤩🙌👍
My dad worked with Michael Clarke Duncan at the gas company here in Chicago. My dad said he was a good dude and truly a gentle giant lol. One of my favorite movies and I don’t think I’ve not cried watching this movie. I absolutely love your laugh my man, it brings me such joy 🥰
Rest in peace Michael Clarke Duncan you are truly missed sir!
John is every good and moral black man in America. P.S. An if John lawyer wasn't so immoral maybe John might have healed his son. Michael should have won an Oscar for playing John Coffey. PRAISE YAHWEH!!!!!!!
Hits you right in the soul.
This was filmed at the old Riverbend Max outside Nashville. As a teen n the '80's, me & my cousin got busted 4 weed at the Wave Pool. We got community service & had 2 tour the prison when it was still open. The prisoners didn't have much effect on us, but Death-Row was a different story! "Old Sparky" was actually n a different building. U had 2 walk outside the Row & n2 a small 2-room brick building. The 1st room had a concrete slab 4 the body, & the chair was n the adjoining room. It had no air-conditioning (only fans), & was mid-summer & hot. Even tho it had been a while since the last execution, it had the weirdest, indescribable sickening smell! & with the heat, it felt like Hell, & has stuck with me ever since! When this was filmed a friend of mine's dad got a role as an extra, playing 1 of the guards. I watched it once, & don't ever need 2 c it again! "Fun" times!😂 Freak On, Brother Showdown! See ya! 😎 ✌ ❤ 🚬
A few things to think about. John's initials are the same as Jesus. He was also heavily persecuted just for existing. The other is what Del said in the chair, versus what John said. Del said "I'm sorry for what I do". John said "I'm sorry for what I am".
This movie is easily one of the most emotional climaxes because we get to know the characters well. Everyone should have been given an Oscar for their roles imo. Great movie.
I love that during a pause, the kids in the background could be heard. Connects to those of us in your viewing audience that are regular @ss people. Still diggin the channel
thank you again good sir
I figured you would get to this movie eventually
You, sir, are made of steel. I cry every time I see this movie, and between watching it and watching reactors watching it, I have seen it a lot. It's in my King movie collection and is my favorite adaptation of his work. I read it as the serial was released. King did this book as a chapter book, released in six parts, I believe. So you had to wait for each one. I was reading the final book when I got to work early one day, waiting on my team, and I looked like Dean by the time they got there. They thought they were going to have to send me home for a mental health day! 🤣
One of my favorites ❤
Wow you're hardcore! How anyone doesn't cry to this film is beyond me
Great reaction! I'm glad you enjoyed it, it's an amazing movie!
Glad you enjoyed it
Thanks for this movie reaction. I saw the Green Mile several times in the theater back in 1999 and cried every time. I now own the movie on blu-ray. The entire cast was excellent. Michael Clarke Duncan was amazing as John Coffey. He is very much missed. RIP.
Well said!
it is great to have a channel where the host talks like a normal person.
1. YOU WILL CRY
2. Dabbs Greer/old Paul was ill during production so his part was done later.
3. Hammersmith/Lt. Dan/Gary Sinise isn't a very good lawyer. Possibly racial.
4. In the book King briefly covers why the Chief and Del are on death row.
5. This movie was nominated for Best Supporting Actor and Best Cast but unfortunately neither won.
6. Players in other King adaptations: Jeffery DeMunn: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist,
Storm of the Century and William Sadler: Shawshank Redemption, The Mist. David Morse:
The Langoliers.
7. Goof: Electricity makes the body contract. Del wouldn't be able to scream.
8. IRL James Cromwell is a vegetarian and didn't want to grill meat for the BBQ scene but
was told that in 1935 people actually ate meat so he agreed to have some on the grill.
9. RE Percy: Couldn't happen to a nicer guy. KARMA's a Bitch.
10. A little fun fact: Toot Toot the trustee is played by Harry Dean Stanton.(RIP) The other guards' names are Harry Terwilliger/Jeffery DeMunn
and Dean Stanton/Barry Pepper.
11. IRL both David Morse and James Cromwell are as tall as Michael Clark Duncan (RIP). They used planks, a smaller bed and smaller chair
along with trick photography to make John look taller.
12. The mouse they used in the scene where Del gives Mr. Jingles just before his execution really pooped on Paul's shoulder and he brushed it off.
13. Now we know what the "day old is fine" dry toast is for.
14 EVERYBODY cries and has to take time to reflect. Congratulations you just experienced
the GREATEST MOVIE EVER.
15. 4 words for you: Stephen King. You're WELCOME!
Toot Toot (HDS) is also the detective in Christine. I would love to see him watch the cult classic Repo Man with HDS and Emilio Estevez. That movie is trippy.
@@tinastar1972 Good choice. He had a ton on his resume. Something to note that there's a scene in C&C's "Up in Smoke" when the guys go to jail and HDS is in the cell but it landed on the cutting room floor. That would have been fun 😊
I sobbed uncontrollably Michael Clark Duncan WAS John Coffey!
RIP Michael Clarke Duncan. He left an indelible mark on Cinema. Gine b4 his time.
e seen this movie countless times, but when John asks to not have the mask on because he's afraid of the dark, I break down in tears every single time.
🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿
Great movie. Every time I see Michael Clarke Duncan I think of him on the bike in Armageddon “ Come and get papa bear!!” lmao idk why! Glad he was nominated for the Oscar for this role, and should’ve won! Damn taken way to early from us.
1930's got John Coffey and Lennie Small. Gentle giants not gettin any love back then.
I saw this the year after it came out. If I had known what it was about, I would have seen it in the theater.
When you were talking at the end about seeing it in a theater, I'm kinda glad I didn't. I'd be scared of anyone that could watch this first time without crying. There can't have been a dry eye in the crowd, even if you read the book and know what's coming. But at the same time it must've been a very.... communal feeling.
You've taken a pretty unique approach to cutting up the film in editing your reaction. Very cool.
I appreciate that! fighting the copyright war
Paul: What makes you think you deserve some? Bill: Because I got a big pecker. lol!!!!!
Great reaction bro 🔥I honestly think every actor in this movie just did an amazing job.
I completely agree Jake
2014 Alien abduction. This movie was set up to be filmed on a kids camcorder.
Hey Popcorn of all the movies I have seen in my life and the ones I texted you. And it's my first time ever ever seeing (Tom Hanks Acted)Anyway Loved it.Thank"s for Sharing

SHOUTOUT TO ‘NILLA WAFERS! #throwback
This movie is one of my favourites awesome reaction man
thanks Anthony
Great movie. I've seen it several times, always moved by the performances. Stephen King is so well known for his horror stuff and I do enjoy that but I really appreciate his more dramatic work like this one, Shawshank, and Delores Claiborne.
One of my favorites 🙌🏻💜🖤
Killer movie! Killer reaction! Thanks.
This movie makes me weep like a kid every time.
I was fighting them tears and I lost
Wow! This is one of my favourite films EVER as a huge Stephen King fan. Let's go! ❤🍿 -x-

This movie 🎬 is a true classic.
Just discovered your content homie. Dopeness, keep it up, good luck.
Appreciate it!
Love it. 🎸
Showdown! You ever see Welcome to Collinwood? It's also got a great cast including Sam Rockwell and Michael Jeter. It's super funny, clever and it has some heart. You gotta check it out! Thanks for the great reactions!
I don't think I've seen it before

thank you !
Persey is EVIL
Great movie great reaction 🙌🙌👍
How well did that actor play him - everyone hates Percy & cheers when he get his comeuppance 🤩🙌👍
loved it
Two suggestions. Time Machine from 1960 and Highlander from 1985.
I second HIGHLANDER
A great pic.
The performances are great but I still can't help feeling that like as in some of his other films that Tom Hanks tends to play a character that attempts to romanticize some parts of history. Not saying that it's right or wrong, just that the more of his films I watch - Saving Private Ryan, The Green Mile, Forrest Gump, even Castaway to some extent... Yes you get to see some interesting perspectives, but they show an idealized version of everything. Which is sure partly from the limitations of the movie making. But after the 10th+ time watching them I can't help but feel like they are leaving a lot about what actually happened in real life out of the film. Prison wasn't nice. People watch this and they think "oh there's some kind old Tom Hanks prison guard who would have cared about me". Truth is: probably not. But I guess the movie can be a symbolic reference to society changing it's perspective and views over time. Tom Hanks getting out of the buisnesses because he couldn't take seeing it anymore. Wanting a better life for those involved. But it still feels too easy in a way. And like we're supposed to feel sorry for him at the end. But like what are we really trying to do and say with this movie? It's a little odd. That's all. That's the feeling I'm left with. Because while prisons have improved in some ways since then... In other ways not so much. So I guess I just wish it was even more clear about it's message. If you haven't seen it you need to watch Gangs of New York. Now there's a movie with a clear message. At least... Clearer than The Green Mile is (for me).
Vanilla Wafer's!! I inhale the whole box. Love your cussing ;) Bless You!
😁
As a man, why run all the way out to the Outhouse to p*ss? Especially in the middle of the night with a UTI. Just go outside.
Great movie. Duncan was a great actor. Not my favorite of King's that will always be Shawshank. After that, I would say Needful Things and Cat's Eye. Great movie though.
Hoping you will check out Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil (1997). Directed by Clint Eastwood and based on actual events

Wow
You are the only person I’ve seen reacting to this movie that smiled when Percy stomped on the mouse. Everyone else was pissed off at Percy for being such an ass.
Though Percy's behavior in the movie was extremely mean, I found it hilarious

yes!
Excited to watch your reaction to this.
Please also check out a little review I did on my channel that I just posted this morning.
There is a lot of piss in this movie.
lol
And mouse 💩
nice
Very nice
Excellent acting by Michael Clarke Duncan. Highly emotional work of fiction. Great reaction, Popcorn Reactions. But the "True" miracle worker will forever wipe all your tears away. Revelation 7: 17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." For the Lamb Of God, Jesus Christ, can give eternal life to all that will believe. John 3:16-17 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved." Also 1Corinthians 15:1-4
This reaction is way too abbreviated, so many major scenes cut out.
