I own a 2002 745i and i bought it in 2014 and since i bought the car it has always smoked (oil) when its on idle for example at a red light . i took it to plenty of BMW mechanics and they could never figure it out and till this day is still smoking . they checked pretty much everything and nothing ever got solved. The car still runs like a champ its just embarrassing when a nice car smokes .
Bet you have a 4.8 or 4.4 V8 right? Valve stem seals for sure... the bad seal design will allow oil past them and into the combustion chamber when at idle under higher pressure (throttle plate closed) but it won’t happen at speeds... I have an X5 with the 4.8 that does the same thing.

I have a small shop like yours where I work on German cars as hobby, and side business. I’ve been working on quite a few e90’s, f30’s, e60’s, etc. I actually purchased ISTA last year on your recommendation, and it’s been amazing. Get the 3 stage manifold back on the e90, and put a proper tune on it! I did it to my wife’s e90 m sport, and now the car finally feels balanced with the stiffer factory suspension, and wider tires. Before, it felt like the car had too much tire on it; now it feels perfect with the extra 30 or so hp.

I have a dakota 2001 4.7 and it has a Poweraid air system added. I have been asking mechanics to tell me why I have SOME smoke out the tailpipe on occasion, but they all seem to want to diagnose it for $$$. I know about compression testing and Leak testing for Valves and Piston issues and the possibility, but this truck only smokes a very little and only when I'm doing short work (yard work) or when I put it in reverse. All videos talking about smoke don't specify that it has to be a LOT of smoke or a Little smoke to be valves of pistons. I am not wanting to put that kind of money if my problem isn't a problem. Does a Poweraid Air Boost create the potential for pockets of fuel to create white smoke? It doesn't smoke when idle, or on the highway or at stop signs...but it does when I sit for more than a couple minutes in park/stopped. I'm looking for the truth about this so I can be at peace. Grateful!!!

The next day, at the start of the engine, considerable white smoke appeared from the exhaust. Let me tell you, it was warm weather outside. What could be wrong? I haven't been to a mechanic yet. I haven’t used a car since.
Need some help I have a 2000 mustang gt I just purchased turns out it’s a v6 to v8 conversion the car has no catalytic converters w mufflers it’s also has long tube headers the car throws out white smoke when started and you can see water kinda spitting out. A little but you can notice it when you run the car and come to a complete stop smoke from the exhaust will come out way more then when it sitting not exaggerate where it fills up everywhere but you can see the smoke blow towards you as you stop the car misfires really bad once in a while and starts running good again at times I haven’t looked into the misfire yet

It was overheating so I bought a brand new radiator and thermostat and water pump.. the overheating happened again due to the coolant being so low but I filled it up again but I’m curious to know why cause I don’t see any leaks.. I had white smoke coming out of my work car a 2016 Toyota Prius it smelt sweet it ended up being a Heat Exchanger. That would be a great video because no one has a video on this topic and I had shops trying to sell me on a head gasket for between 2,500.00 to 5,000.00
@trucker Jay what is a heat exchanger? Do you mean radiator? I was told that my tail pipe smells like an antifreeze plus I have all the codes now in my Acura MDX, and I am trying to figure out a reason, before I pay dealership for diagnostics.
@@babycakes8434 I think it's a hybrid thing not enough heat to heat up the cabin which makes a lot of steam come out of your exhaust looking like a blown head blown gasket. I was having to add coolant to my car every day. My car ran fine except for the exhaust smoke. I wouldn't bring it to Acura I'd go on yelp and look for a smaller shop dealership will always over charge you and have you do repairs that don't need to be done. The head gasket will cost you between 3,500 and 5k.
@@truckerjay4754 It doesn't really jerk or nothing, but it is sluggish on the lower speeds and on the lower speeds the RPMs are going up to 3000. Higher speeds shift better. It had the transmissin rebuilt abt 5K miles ago or so. Also it doesn't have codes in the summer. I replaced the 6spark plugs and 6 new coils. Now it has the codes P0300, P0302, P0304, P0306 and P0301 if I am not mistaken. I am thinking or head gasket or throttle body that had mass air flow sensor and idle air control sensor built into the throttle body in this particular car.

Greetings and thanks for this post. My 2006 Kia Optima is blowing a lot of white smoke out the exhaust and cutting off after a mechanic attempted to change Valve Cover Gaskets. I also need my fuel pump changed, however the car wasn't running that way prior to changing the valve cover gaskets. Any idea of what the issue is????

@@walletphonekeys Yes. The problem was worn piston rings as the mechanic who did diagnosis has had the same problem when he was owned the same car type. He said it’s a common problem in this car as it has not strong piston rings so they worn out after a while

@@walletphonekeys I didn’t fix it as I sold it as it’s. However, there are lots of reasons of white smoke could be small or big issue as there is some additive to stop the smoking and fix the problem but it’s temporary as far as I know.

Gman k honestly man my 2013 550i Is best car I ever owned and I owned lots of cars The power and handling of the car is amazing My car only have 56k miles still no issues with seals I know it’s coming at some point around 75k

A friend of mine God rest his soul owned a pizzeria and one day while going to work I seen him with his wife and he wanted to race me and as soon as the light went green he took off but before the light turned green so I didn't chase him I meet up on the next light and it was on, sport + shifter to the left and it was on and it wasn't even close.... what he was driving was a 2009 Mercedes E55 AMG . So after that race I stayed away for about 2 weeks incase something funny went into my pizza lol. Sorry for the long txt

My BMW had a bad crankcase ventalation valvem would smoke like crazy on a hot day restart, and clear right up.
bro I'm scared, my 5 series makes a hefty amount of smoke when revving/accelerating along with a strong ass gas smell 😭
