Building The Dream - 718 Cayman Porsche Drift Car

- About 8 years ago I started figuring out what it would take to build a Porsche Cayman drift car. In these videos we share it finally happening! The chassis is so good out of the box, but we wanted adjustability and possibilities to make sure we could perfect this configuration. Drifting is obviously more than a passion and bringing new people and creativity into drifting is my favorite.
So join us this year as we develop this car into a ripper and learn its ups and downs. I wanted to share this with you guys in real time as we get to new milestones because previously with the FD programs we can’t really do it.
For merch and gear to support the journey of freestyle drifting check out Chelseadenofa.com
So epic to see you make this happen! You’ve talked about it for so long!!!!
Will you buy one next lol? Can’t wait to see the compound full test video
Thanks man! It’s happening!
Wow Chelsea and Adam in the same room..Osome 🔥🔥🔥🔥
@@Diamond420youtube hes drifting at the compound lol
@@Diamond420youtube probably standing next to each other when they sent each others replys 🤣
Okay this is SICK
Thanks homie
So who’s doing a Nismo GTR oem+ drift car
I think I speak for everyone when I say your driving content is some of the best around but I really love when you do deeper dives into the mechanical / technical aspects of what you are doing man. Keep it up. This project is fucking legendary.
SWEET!
Let's hope he takes this beast on drift week so we can see you bang his doors 😁
I have never been so excited to watch a build ever! This is so RAD
My god, Chelsea. I'm not sure if you realize exactly how fired up a lot of us are for this. Seriously, you're living the dream and I can't thank you enough
My god this is the Chelsea content we’ve all been dying for!! We finally get a real dive into your wild mind that revolves around drifting!! Thank you so much chelsea for taking the chance to do something YOU want to do!! We will always support you sir!!
Chelsea suspension technical talk and Porsche engineering. That is the best video I have ever watched!
This is a man who puts his passion for driving first
I am an absolute fan of this build ! It really follows what you started by swapping the 2.3 eco boost in your foxbody by showing new possibilities and a more modern take on drifting.
I love S-chassis, JZs and all but drifting needs to evolve and by doing it this way, you are bringing a new crowd that up until now discarded drifting without even really knowing it.
I can’t wait to see where you’ll take this build in the future
Agreed. Opens many minds and possibilities. Would be cool to put this 2.5 in a Subaru, rwd swapped for drifting.
As a 981 Cayman owner all i can say is wow! This is a bloody awesome project, cant wait to see it develop.
I can hear the ambition/excitement in your voice talking about the car and design. Killer
One of the best car enthusiast videos I've ever seen on TH-cam so far. The build, meaning and purpose of the car it all makes so much sense and the way it is told throughout the video is so clear and thought out. It's pure passion!
Bro I literally got goosebumps when I heard her coming into the frame!!! You’re an inspiration my guy! You’re gonna start an evolution watch! I’m glad to say I witnessed it being born! Can’t wait to see more of her sliding around!
You are the man. This has gotta be the coolest drift car project I’ve ever seen. Can’t wait to see the final product. Great work man 👌
I appreciate that!
I've learned more about my Porsche in this one video than I have in years of ownership. This build is amazing and thanks for sharing the information in an educational and open way. 👏🏼👏🏼
Loved all the technical info about suspension setup and chassis geometry! As someone who’s familiar with it (although outside the context of drifting) I found it super interesting! Can’t wait to see more!
17:44 GOT EM!!! Love the build, so refreshing to see new platforms for drifting
As a guy that loves and understands drifting alignment geometry but professionally works with porsches, the merger of the two is incredible
I am so excited to be a part of this. 🙏 I saw this car and was in love. It’s so cool.
looking forward to that!
I love Caymans. Can't wait to see you rock it.
8 degrees of camber in the front of a Porsche looks so odd haha. So sick!! Stoked to see this thing rip!
I absolutely loved the 718 GTS 2.5 I had for a few years. I'm looking forward to this build and seeing what you do with the platform!
Replying to myself, but holy shit man. Just finished watching, and I get the feeling that once you've done more development this could become the next cheat code for high level drift chassis like the C6 and C7 kind of became. I wish you all the luck!
Its sick to see people finally using different cars in drifting. We have always had oddball cars that didn't work well but the tech now can make any car good. Awesome to see.
Chelsea, you are BY FAR the most fun car guy to watch.
You know so much and are so good at sharing that knowledge, it really comes across just how much of a car guy you are. Not to mention, you have awesome taste in everything automotive!
I own a drift Foxbody and work at a Porsche restoration shop, a lot of what you say about the spirit being the same across them both is very true. Air cooled Porsches are very fun and simple machines.
I've always loved these cars, good choice, quirky and very different for what you are using it for, but in a good way.. can't wait to see how you work your way through it. Nice one Chelsea's.
This is epic seeing a Porsche drifting or someone who wants to do a Porsche drift project like you doing now, I can't wait to see more development in it
This is so sick and thank you Chelsea for this content
You're some dude. So cool to see someone happy to win a fd championship and just move on to the next project and absolutely kill that too. You're actually about the drifting and not just the attention and the fame that goes with it.
Also the most excited I've seen Chelsea in a while he looks so stoked and focused at the same time
yeah boy, so happy to see a different drift car build
as a long time porsche enthusiast/owner i love this! at the same time there goes the affordable prices we been having for early water cool flat 6 cars. dont tell elliott its not a 944.
This is something that I have saw you doing! Taking cars that are not the normal drift cars and making them drift-able or just more fun for the owner to enjoy!!! And this was a Heck of a car to start with but seems like you’ve Nailed it!
fully caged, turbo car, at 2800lbs with you in it is incredible tbh!
Love the build we need more random builds like that for drifting
Chelsea, this is by far one of your best projects yet.
Well played good Sir. 👌
Boost the N/A 6 for the next 718 build we think.
The outlook you have for drifting is so awesome. I can see you literally changing drifting for the future by building this style chassis mid engine cars it does look like it’s the future in my opinion.
Yes yes yes! Finally to see a big pro influencer in the sport touching a newer porsche to drift, everyone loves this 🙏🏻
Your mechanical comprehension and technical knowledge of a project is nuts. Really pushing the boundaries of the sport. Best of luck!
All the YES! Looking forward to seeing this one unfold.
It's always been my goal to build a drift car that's unique and not seen in drifting. Porsche is a great pick and now it's a new goal
somethingg so new in drifting, that seeing a thumbnail made me react - "daaamn, I didn't expect that!". This was/is for sure a GREAT idea for your FD-off career....pumped! And waiting for the skids! Greatings from polish Ti lovers :)
Insane, that car looks so sick sideways! So stoked to see all the content on this beast.
After seeing Bentley, McLaren and Lamborghini drift builds this is literally where we’re headed! It’s wild, from 80’s and 90’s Japanese junkers to Super Cars! I love it!
Bro the knowledge this guy spits about his build is so cool to see ! Sick video man ! Love this build ! F yea
Been waiting for this since the videos with the aw11. Can't wait for this.
absolutely insane chelsea, what a sick build and the last clip was nutty
Love it. I love people trying to innovate in motorsport, especially at a more realistic level. It's so easy for people to stick to safe choices of car, so this kind of attitude of "let's try something new" is awesome.
FINALLY!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG since 2018 I have wanted to see this!!!!
Very cool Project Mr. Denofa. Looking forward to seeing future progress!
So cool Chelsea , cant wait to see you journey ahead with Cayman. Such a unique platform
Really excited to see the progression of this! I remember when you had the Mr2 and started playing with the idea and it was intriguing then, stoked to see you revisit it and for the end product. 🤙
You and me both!
I’m so happy I was able to see this thing testing. Such an incredible car with massive angle and control especially being rear engine the amount of control you showed in it was phenomenal
Bro seeing it on IG was one thing, but seeing the feasibility of it on your breakdown is insane. I am excited to see how this will change the game!!
I could not be more excited for this build!!!!! 🎉🎉🎉
As a current GT4 owner and former cayman S owner I’m pumped to see how this all turns out! Insanely cool. These cars are fun to slide around and surprisingly not that bad to control in a slide as long as you know it’s coming
I can't begin to say how much this car and driver combo excites me for the future of drifting. Keeping a close eye out now that I found this video
Fantastic. Cannot wait to see more of the Drift 718
Damn now you got me looking for turbo 718s! It's the new age MR 951. Awesome video, glad we can be a part of it and curious where it goes.
Thanks for helping us! 718 game is tight!
Thank you for the opportunity to whip this cage up for you! So rad to see this thing running! Keep killing it OG!
This is dope - can't wait to see / hear it in person!
Love the engineering approach to a new build and super excited to see the progression on it. Keep innovating dude 🤙
Everybody will always say there's something better no matter what. Stoked to see how this turns out.
Your passion is so inspiring bro! Can't wait to see what's next!
I cannot overstate how much I love your content and how much I love these cars. This is amazing
This is going to be cool to watch. It actually sounds really good i was expecting something more high pitched and raspy.
This is so awesome! I can literally see the little excitement on your face all throughout the video. Love to see it and can’t wait to see more! Great vid.
Finally!! People have been saying not to drift a Porsche but it's catching on!
Such a sick build, love the amount of detail, the production style, filming, everything. So excited for this phase of your existence mate 👌
I'm really enjoying the progress in motorsports. Drifting especially.
Very awesome and innovated!! Love that you're exploring into a chassis that you're not familiar with and pushing it to its limits!! 🔥💯🤙🏾😎
Caymans deserve more respect and I hope with this build it’ll gain it from all car enthusiast.
The structure and content of this video was amazing! So stoked to see this journey🙏🏼
This build is amazing! I worked at a Porsche dealer when version of the Cayman came out & instantly loved it! Also really enjoy your detail & tech nerd way of explaining everything. Very much looking forwards to seeing more content on this car. 🤘
This is so sick. Also, love your explanations of everything as far as why you’re doing it the way you are. It’s obvious this is your passion and it’s really fun to watch.
I watched you win in Mineral Wells the year you got your formula D license.. the bright green BMW bustin chops with Feilding Shredder’s gold s14… from classic battles to modern innovations like this 🔥🔥🔥
I love the Caymans and glad you see you building one that I didn't think anyone would.
I still have no idea what he's doing in 2024 😂 but I like the car, something different, clean interior, not over complicated, not just throw the catalog at it but actually able to explain every setting like only Chelsea does is my favourite thing.
It's awesome man I love it
Excited to see how you see how you tweak the exterior in your style
So much excitement for this build and motivation for mine
Super cool project man! Definitely looking forward to seeing more content 🔥
For a non youtuberguy, this was amazing. What a cool build and great listening to you in this style of video.
Hands down your best video to date! So rad how you explained your place in the evolution of drifting over the years, and your want to keep progressing what's a relatively young motorsport! Love your attitude, love your character, and love your dedication! Keep up the great content!
Unbelievable build!!! Love it!! Hope we get to see more of the 718 build
Man you are killing it with this one , killer build 👍🏻
Super excited to see your next era! So far I'm loving all the content 🎉❤
I'm so absolutely stoked for this build, ive had the constant thought of a porsche drift car (preferably a 911) but this is just as great
So great to see the turbo cars get some love. Look forward to seeing this build evolve!
This is truely awesome.
Nice edit and story telling
Dude, you've been on fire lately. This is absolutely sick
Congratulations on the new build this is so bad ass can’t wait to see the whole new level you take this Porsche too.
Phenomenal video and format. Stoked to see this series!
I have been waiting for someone to build a 718 drift car, I figured it would be better than a 911, so I am loving this.
Looking forward to the content to come with this car. Keep pushing the bar!
Super sick! Who knew a Porsche could be setup so well to drift!
Great to see this bild, what an epic car it will be. Congrats
This is sick! I own one of these cars and I’m not super in to drifting. But this video taught me more about my car from a technical standpoint than any other source. Thanks for making this car and video. And I’m looking forward to seeing more progress.
Wow just wow. You’ve upped the game brother
Love the content and can’t wait to see where this goes. Love learning new stuff about new platforms. Also I feel like I speaks for everyone but you look a lot healthier when you’re doing the sit explanations.
