I have some weird hybrid mix between a broken styloid process (eagle syndrome) and MTD. This video was helpful for getting through a pretty anxious moment tonight. I'm in year 2 of waiting to see if I can get a styloidectomy, and then deal with residual MTD through vocal therapy. I ended up getting all of these symptoms about a month before the first lockdown, so I really can't wait to see if there's any way I can resolve my issues. Thanks for putting this together.
Good luck with the styloidectomy! I understand that Eagle Syndrome can produce other symptoms besides MTD including facial/throat pain, headaches, etc. I know that when it comes to musculoskeletal pain and MTD, virtual voice therapy can be a safe and effective alternative to in-person therapy. We even instruct our clients in circumlaryngeal massage and myofascial release therapy techniques online. Best of luck!
i am suffering from mtd last 10 months. Thanks for sharing your experience. i have a question my hyoid bone is paining all the day there is tenderness whole when i speak as well as sing. Did u have the only when u sing or speak or pain that is consistent when u silent. or do u have hyoid pain? what kind of pain u have? pain only when u sing or speak because i have pain full day when iam not sing or speak on rest there is also pain
It's certainly possible to achieve relief and improved vocal function with less muscular effort. The first step is assessment by a fellowship-trained laryngologist, and then treatment by a vocologist. There is hope!
It shouldn't be; muscle tension dysphonia often responds very effectively to voice therapy. Laryngeal massage should also help you. Check out our video on that, and see if you get some relief: th-cam.com/video/QUDNXLSrOXk/w-d-xo.htmlsi=8WA7iwD_s9SAXGrf
This is great information! Thank you for posting this! I've been struggling with this all year..
I'm so glad that this is helpful for you!
I've been struggling with this since 2017 and I still can't get answers. Test after test and no results. It's frustrating.
Wow I had that exact experience where the ENT told me i'm fine and I went home thinking I was nuts.. thankfully this year I got an actual diagnosis
So now you know, you are not alone (or nuts!), and there is help available!
I was told the same thing. And my voice is getting worse. I'm so frustrated.
