  • Clearing raw land by hand! After finishing the culvert, the next step towards our dream of an off-grid homestead was clearing 300 feet of raw land for the access road. With Justin working a full time job we only have a limited time each week to make progress. We are choosing to take things slow and do as much of the work as we can manage by ourselves in order to remain debt free. The work is hard but at the end of the day we feel a strong sense of fullfilment and purpose in our lives. We also get a great workout! Who needs a gym when you can mattock stumps out all day? Our kids have jumped into this journey with both feet and honestly work just as hard as we do. It is important to us that they feel included in every step of this journey. We are dreaming of not only having an off-grid homestead one day, but of creating a place that our family can call home.

Those little trees would pull out so easy with an old truck tire on a rim and a chain.

I have plenty more trees that need to be taken down so maybe I'll give it a shot one day.

Just use on old pickup with plywood set up to protect the rear window in case the chain breaks. Also, no kids around when pulling the stump.

First I need to acquire an old pickup 😁

I'd like to say they are cheap. But they are not cheap anymore!

Wow, thank you for following along! I am working on the next homestead update, coming soon. We have lots of big things in the works, even though progress feels slow sometimes. Well water, septic, solar, shed, and house design are all on the schedule for the near future 🙂

Looks like ya'll are working hard. My only suggestion from one small channel to another is if your wanting to grow on TH-cam then you need to post videos more often. One video per week is probably the bare minimum. The land clearing by hand is not fun but rather rewarding....great work ya'll.

No F'n OSHA. Stupid is as stupid does. Spend time as a VET, visit an ER, forget OSHA. Learn like real loggers.

Your land looks pretty flat. And you have a nice stand of timber.
