Outers makes cleaning equipment, solvents, and oils for firearms. When you pulled that handled rod out of the basket I saw it as the handle and part of the rod for a cleaning rod. If the end of the rod is threaded on the inside then that's exactly what it is.
It's part of an RCA Cinema System - RCA Camden MI-9486 Metal/paper big horn multicell, 15 cell, MI-9498 throat "Y" adapter. Goes with am MI-9458 Big Alnico compression driver
Seen a few on sale about $350 but you called it as its a theatre horn, or speaker as most will know it. Anyone into high end audio might recognise it as a part of a speaker system well a larger version of what they would be extreamly lucky to own. But we'll called bud.
It's always nice to see original parts reunited with a car! It's even better when that come together and become a complete running vehicle. Looking forward to seeing this one going down the road Matt!
Morning Matt, I truly love your picking video's, I am the same way, my Wife says I'm a Pack Rat, this old stuff needs to be saved, glad to see the scattered parts for the Delorean 32 finding their way home. Stay Safe!!! God Bless!!!
The horn looks like an old air raid siren. The original air raid sirens were hooked to Chrysler Hemi engines that would pump high volumes of air into the siren part as it rotated the horns around and around to warn everyone to take cover. They were also used during the cold war. Where I live in Oklahoma they are still using those types of horns as tornado warning sirens.
The echoes of your shouts of joy are probably still ringing down Woodward. I'm constantly setting an important job part or tool down, coming back to it, and not finding it. I'm convinced that old parts and tool gremlins exist in the corners of my garage!
Chances are the loud speaker is from the race track his dad was the announcer at. He would double his words (race race way way park park) I remember his son getting choked up about his fathers past or something like that.
I've been looking at that building in your video I knew it looked familiar, I had a chance to look at it over 10 years ago and I got busy.if I had any idea what was in there, I would have been on top of it but it's better with you. I'm a coe tow truck guy but anything 72 and older keep up the hunt!!
Matt thank you for the update on getting the hood and other awesome parts of old stuff ! Take care , stay safe and healthy with whatever you maybe doing next ! Doing well here in Kansas .
Hey Matt Thank you for going over all the finds from the Detroit Garage. I suspected you would be collecting some cool stuff that was left in the buildings. Be Safe and Well
The tac-drive story was awesome. Reminded me of one of those bible parables, was lost and then found and then the celebration begins. Thanks for the great videos. 😜
Looks like a good haul. Great to keep that stuff being used in some way. Look forward to seeing the progress on the Delorean roadster. Stay safe and stay well.
It was great watching you in Detroit. Awesome that you got the hood back. Sell that speaker to Jake& Elwood Blues so they can promote they’re concert 😂😂😂. I’m glad your gonna refurbished the lift, it will look so much better in your garage.
Hey Matt, have the Blount and Everett stand sand blasted, paint it gloss black or forest green with gold or silver on the lettering and make it a flag holder you can use in your booth at swap meets.
Yep that Horn was used for audio applications that were installed at outdoor events RCA used what are called compression drivers it looks like two 2” throats are at the rear of that horn so I hope that helps ya.
Matt, Another good haul of cool parts. I also wrote you on Instagram but, save me one of those plastic All Tire Co signs. I’ll be at Carlisle and pick it up there. I have likely driven past that address on Greenfield all my life and would love to bring one back to Michigan and hang in my shop. Bob M.
It’s an early hearing aid. Joking apart, during WWII in Germany and doubtless Britain too there were devices a bit like this for listening out for incoming enemy aircraft.
Great haul! I particularly identified with the story of the tach drive, YUP, I've been there with stuff. Feels good when you stop kicking yourself LOL.
That is called a echo can !!! If you remember the old drag racing commercials that started out " SUNDAY....SUNDAY...SUNDAY...live at the Pamona speed way " Matt The Rat" from Iron Trap Garage will race "The Delorian roadster" they were also big at ball parks and state fairgrounds ...
Cool that you found the tach drive. I’m also glad I’m not the only one that that type of catastrophe happens too lol I swear it’s nearly every damn time , put really important thing “x” here to make sure it doesn’t get lost then it gets lost but ten tons of crap I don’t want or need won’t get lost lol
The thread on fitting on the horn look like fire hose type fitting wonder if it might be a fogger spray off a engine need neither good look at the connection end nice score Matt
The 10 gang RCA horn speaker unit that you have are electronic in nature. The two drivers that create the audio are missing that connect to the stem of the unit. With the drivers, that unit would have been worth possibly $2,500 or more. It may have been used in auditoriums, arenas or stadiums. They were likely not used in the building where they were found as there would be no reason to break eardrums for no reason. That item is a collectible in the vintage electronic venue and advising you to do some research before selling it.
Hey matt, who mixes the music you use on your videos shoots.Sounds great.!! dont think I've heard it before ,though some sounds familiar . I love the bluze.. also the clip u use at the end of an episode, or every episode as the camera pans away in your garage is really a cool tune
Looks like you've got some great fodder for Carlisle. Too bad I cant make it, take a trip down memory lane. We used to sell there back in the 80s. Just pray it doesn't rain. BTDT
4:09 That is the end of an air raid horn. RCA did manufacture them. The Y connection was to hook to the air compressor so air could blow the horn. 8:44 Looks to be the base for an adjustable "Dead Man".
I don't think so. It's a multicell horn, but not an air horn. It's missing the electric drivers, but the Y adapter is so you can run dual drivers. Used in theaters.
Thats a cluster of horns, probably for a giant 50s era monphonic PA. Someone wants it badly!
Outers makes cleaning equipment, solvents, and oils for firearms. When you pulled that handled rod out of the basket I saw it as the handle and part of the rod for a cleaning rod. If the end of the rod is threaded on the inside then that's exactly what it is.
Yeah, when he said "Outers" and I saw it I said, that is a pistol (because of the short length) cleaning rod.
Keep the small open sign if it is steel, cover the manchester name with Iron Trap Garage magnetic signs and use it for your Sunday Services.
It's part of an RCA Cinema System - RCA Camden MI-9486 Metal/paper big horn multicell, 15 cell, MI-9498 throat "Y" adapter. Goes with am MI-9458 Big Alnico compression driver
Wait...so no trial fit of the hood? Aww c'mon man...It's just there...behind you!
Thats an RCA photophone, they were used in places like cinemas and theatres
Seen a few on sale about $350 but you called it as its a theatre horn, or speaker as most will know it. Anyone into high end audio might recognise it as a part of a speaker system well a larger version of what they would be extreamly lucky to own. But we'll called bud.
Altec horn speakers.

That Outers piece is the handle for a gun cleaning rod!
I can't wait to see the lift cleaned up and back in service! Great job saving all those items from the thieves, the wrecking ball, and obscurity!
I'm happy you found those parts that are linked to your car, it would be great to get as many parts back together to make it, how it was in the day.
I really like how you know what the miscellaneous parts are. Please do more of that kind of stuff.
It's always nice to see original parts reunited with a car! It's even better when that come together and become a complete running vehicle. Looking forward to seeing this one going down the road Matt!
Trying to catch up, love watching these old videos!
Love the compression tester and the tail lights. Score!!!
It's good to see how tight hot rodders are letting you get the hood!
Morning Matt, I truly love your picking video's, I am the same way, my Wife says I'm a Pack Rat, this old stuff needs to be saved, glad to see the scattered parts for the Delorean 32 finding their way home. Stay Safe!!! God Bless!!!
So cool to see that after all these years the hood still exists for the car.It makes the look of the car really unique, glad you found it 👌🏽
The air raid siren/speaker would make a cool chandelier to hang over a poker table!
The horn looks like an old air raid siren. Anyway, awesome tunes. Great to hear while I watch u live a dream of so many viewers..
Is that the loud speaker from the "Blues Mobile" Blues Brothers movie? Lol
Thought the same thing. Lol. "We're on a mission from God."
One piece at a time. Love these old rides.
The echoes of your shouts of joy are probably still ringing down Woodward. I'm constantly setting an important job part or tool down, coming back to it, and not finding it. I'm convinced that old parts and tool gremlins exist in the corners of my garage!
I Googled "W. Lloyd Manchester Detroit MI" and found a couple of references in a 1961 Detroit Free Press. Looks like he might have been a Realtor.
Probably an Open House sign.
Not sure why, but I shared your enthusiasm as you showed your finds almost as much as you did. Couldn't be happier for you.
I have a pair of those old safety glasses still in great condition !
The little rod with the black T handle appears to be from an Outters gun barrel cleaning kit
Got that right!
LOL, yes sir!, Fender part!!!!, LOL
Yes, appears to be a .22 cal cleaning rod handle section.
Without a doubt!
Glad to see you have the collector enthusiasm as people in our past. Thanks for the video
MATT > I hope you completely restore this car from the ground up , I have a 1932 Roadster ( GLASS )and yours would be a sweetheart of a car done .
20:59 that's a gun cleaning rod handle and 1 section
Chances are the loud speaker is from the race track his dad was the announcer at. He would double his words (race race way way park park) I remember his son getting choked up about his fathers past or something like that.
Good memory
Glad you got your hood back. THATS A SWEET piece. And that you recovered that tach drive. Those old drives are hard to come by.
I loved your scavenger hunt on the old vehicle I totally loved the compression tester would like to have
I've been looking at that building in your video I knew it looked familiar, I had a chance to look at it over 10 years ago and I got busy.if I had any idea what was in there, I would have been on top of it but it's better with you. Glad you got the hood and tach drive. The "Old Hotrod Gods" were looking out for you.
Seeing all the hot rods makes me want to build another one, miss my Vicky.

Matt thank you for the update on getting the hood and other awesome parts of old stuff ! Take care , stay safe and healthy with whatever you maybe doing next ! Doing well here in Kansas .
Good job tracking down the hood
It always nice to see cool old stuff. That air speaker would be nice on a truck an use it as a train horn.
Hey Matt
Thank you for going over all the finds from the Detroit Garage.
I suspected you would be collecting some cool stuff that was left in the buildings.
Be Safe and Well
Matt I trust you don’t play the lotto Your jackpot came in with the hood and tachometer drive. Great score keep on picking and savin that stuff!

That's a 30's loud speaker, Baseball field, bus terminals. basically anywhere you need something that big. Maybe early 40's
20:46 That is a part of a cleaning rod for guns.
Very cool
The tac-drive story was awesome. Reminded me of one of those bible parables, was lost and then found and then the celebration begins. Thanks for the great videos. 😜
Believe the tach drive is 30's vintage; a search on E-Bay should turn up some vendors that could i.d.
it w/ the part #..
Looks like a good haul. Great to keep that stuff being used in some way. Look forward to seeing the progress on the Delorean roadster. Stay safe and stay well.

Sorry Matt, didn't hear a word you said. Too busy drooling over the flattie with the four carbs.
Yep that Horn was used for audio applications that were installed at outdoor events RCA used what are called compression drivers it looks like two 2” throats are at the rear of that horn so I hope that helps ya.

Definitely a good trip.
Speaker trumpets will make a great exhaust tip.
Rat rod?
The part that said outers on it looks like a gun cleaning rod . Great video thanks for sharing.
Very cool great video ty Steve
It’s an early hearing aid. Joking apart, during WWII in Germany and doubtless Britain too there were devices a bit like this for listening out for incoming enemy aircraft.

I swear it’s nearly every damn time , put really important thing “x” here to make sure it doesn’t get lost then it gets lost but ten tons of crap I don’t want or need won’t get lost lol
Matt, that outers handle is a gun cleaning rod out of a kit. Outer is a big name in gun cleaning solvents, oils and cleaning kits.👍
Outers is a gun cleaning bore cleaning rod.
Used those aircraft fuel shut offs on my sprint car. Speedway used to sell them.
Cool finds
The rod with a black handle on it at 20:50 could be part of an old rifle cleaning kit.
Thhe gloss black tee handle looks like the handle for a rifle cleaning rod.
The Outers handle/rod is for gun cleaning a barrel.
The hood you had looked good. The louvered hood looks "right"!
The outers handle is for a gun cleaning kit to clean the gun barrel my friend ..
cool old stuff, wish i was there at that pick. like someone else in the comments said , that Outers black handle deal is a gun cleaning rod.
The thread on fitting on the horn look like fire hose type fitting wonder if it might be a fogger spray off a engine need neither good look at the connection end nice score Matt

The piece marked "Outers" is an old pistol cleaning rod.

@@BrianSmart1959 Thanks for your input. Looked into multicell and found pictures of it.
I stand corrected on my comment.
So jealous of that tach drive! Been looking for one I could afford for years lol
is the horns from a out door event speaker, they fed a small speaker on a Mic into it and as they talked it come out mega loud
Nice Altec theater speaker or some other (RCA)movie theater speaker manufacturer. The driver screw into the throats.
Your Otters Rod is actually a cleaning rod for a pistol. You can buy the identical rod today at a Gun Shop.
I use a gun cleaning rod to clean oil passages on engines I am building. Works swimmingly.
That stand is awesome! would make a cool floor stand for a grinder or disc sander!
Matt- Mojo Speed Shop and Lounge
Will you put the hood on!! I want to see it on the car😚
They call those horns theater horns and there are many listed just like it.
now you need to get a retired Mount Prospect PD police car, early 70's built before the catalytic converter so it runs great on regular gas
thats a weather warning/civil defense horn
That Outers thing is a gun cleaning rod.
The thing you think goes on the side of the hood , that says outers is part of a gun cleaning rod .
Get a sticker made up that says "Sunday Service" about the size of the Lloyd Manchester part of that sign and stick it out front on Sundays?
