I’m 5.9”, female and after test rides on a S73 and NewGen, the 345 was infinitely more comfortable - the suspension makes a big difference. The S73 also has such a small frame which felt cramped, and I’m not even that tall. I bought the silver 250w 345 and it rides like a dream 🙌
Absolutely love the newgen, it is Soooo comfortable and the specs wipe the floor with the super 73, those brakes and the handcrafted seat….simply incredible 🤘
Excellent analysis! in addition to the base bike the industry needs decant and honest customer service, not found with Super73. Unfortunately, my “COVID POD” invested seriously in over a dozen Super73 bikes only to be backstabbed repeatedly by the companies greed and dishonesty. We purchased bikes to be used as multipurpose cargo platforms based upon solid front, rear and side racks that are bolted to the frame, a10 speed option, turn signals, etc.. Super73 has now chosen to withdraw these promised accessories in favor or just pushing more bikes onto the market…they even refuse to allow other manufactures to build these and other accessories or provide useful info (like wiring schematics) to their customers. Unethical companies like Super73 should be stomped out and class action sued!! Let’s only keep the good guys that favor integrity and support bikers!!
It doesn't have 'hydraulic brakes or disc brakes', it has cable actuated disc brakes which work just as well as hydraulically actuated disc brakes. The advantages of hydraulic are better brake feel and they will stay adjusted. Advantages with cable actuated are you can choose any levers from mt biking and there's no brake bleeding nor possible fluid leaks. Either can work as well as the other and they both have good points and downsides. Thank you.
I've seen videos that test fully hydraulic disc brakes against mechanically actuated disk brakes and hybrid mechanically actuated hydraulic disc brakes (woah that's a mouthful). The fully hydraulic (FH) disc brakes won the test, stopping a few meters shorter than the other two types which were fairly similar. The only problem was that the FH brakes could easily lock a wheel which would result in worst performance. Fluid leaks are possible but for typical city cycling they are thankfully quite rare and shouldn't really be a deciding factor.
I have the super 73 zx in gun metal grey, 0 regret after about 5 months. Fast enough for UK roads, really comfortable, loads of ways to customise it, great community.
What makes it Super, is the ridiculously super expensive price! I have a Motorino XPn that I bought used for only $1100 USD from a lady that put only 300Km on it. That was 5 years ago. It's the only vehicle I have and use it to do my daily errands. No one can walk away with it, since it weights more than I do.
I have the 250 NewGen and road tested the 750 which was a beast. I’ve been awaiting mudguards from them from awhile now, so that is a minor frustration. I’ve upgraded the peddles & front light, add mirrors & horn too.. it’s a fantastic bike, not as easy to mod as the Super73 but it’s early days for them. No regrets with my purchase.
The 345's seat height makes a great difference. I've tried the super 73 and it totally ruins my back. Nevertheless, there is something super73 has achieved, that other ebike companies should think of : although their bikes can ride at high speeds, they remain street legal in riding mode 1. At that level of price, I dont want to have to chose between a fast bike or a legal bike. The speedelec limitation in europe is annoying as f*** but you still have to deal with it.
Super73 also needs mud guards that actually "work properly" - In our opinion, this is one of the biggest issues with the Super73 and has been for the last 4 years now!! Not hating, just being very honest and hope the factory read this and take action to correct the issue and improve their product with regard to mud guards. (We are not an official UK dealer & have no affiliation in any way to"Super73" the bike company)
@@super73uk Yes, It's the Tyres, I've Electrified a few snow tyre bikes and had the same issue cos they tyres release the roadwash in all directions in all positions :D
Take your point about the snow tyres, however, on the Super73 the issue is the stock front mud guard is made for "Looks" instead of "functionality" - As soon as you turn the handle bars there is Nothing to stop the water/mud from spraying straight up at the rider. We own a Super73 S1 bike and have fitted our own mud guards - Don't look as "pretty" as the stock mud guards but do stop 99.9% (or close) of the water/mud from the tyres splashing up onto the rider. Super73 are very aware of the issue and even refer to it in one of their videos yet after 4 years the issue has still not been resolved. The only 2 reasons we can think of are; 1. They prefer a "pretty" mud guard over a functional one. 2. They are based in California where it does not rain like it does in the UK so they don't see it as such an issue compared to us here in the UK. We must stress that we are NOT haters of the brand or bikes - We actually love them. Anybody reading this please understand we are just trying to improve the bikes for everyone who owns them. (We are not an official UK dealer & have no affiliation in any way to"Super73" the bike company)
I very almost went for the New Gen but the size just put me off being not the tallest! I bought the ZX and live it! Wife has just bought the ZG… ZX will need some mods over time breaks and maybe front suspension
A whole video and you didn’t explore the joys of the 345’s ‘hand crafted cargo shelf’ .... 😆 Credit to the folk in London who designed a stylish bike, hopefully later models will have some thoughts on practicality re theft protection, wet weather, luggage etc. Early days, but keep up the good work.👍
If you have used an e-bike with dual motors and dual suspension that can climb a hill unassisted you would never look at these bikes. I would like to support them as they are made in the UK/US but they are not competitive price wise or hardware wise. The only boast NewGen and Super73 have is support which might be enough for some. If they made a quality version of the LANKELEISI X-Black Knight I'd be all over that. I'm not recommending Lankeleisi btw.
I usually like your videos but that felt like a thrown together paid promotion. No mention of specifications like range, motor type, batteries. Also there is about 5 other brands you could add to the mix including Urban Drive style and Synch who are also UK company. I own a Mario ebike which is very similar to this bike and was only £1400 and has mud guards. By all means test these bikes but also at VERY least mention the competition. Finally what is the point of your helmet.
I really like the look of the NewGen. Did you try it on any hills? I don't know what a bike like this would be like trying to go up hill. Great video though. Thank you 😊
You mentioned where to buy the Super73 but didn't mention where to buy the NewGen - Are you able to put a link? (We are not an official UK dealer & have no affiliation in any way to"Super73" the bike company)
I have had my ZX since August 2021 and use it to commute to work and back, i have done over 800miles with it so far and it has been very reliable, i have changed to hydraulic brake callipers for a little better braking performance and also added front suspension forks which made an even bigger difference on our poorly maintained roads. I have also added an extra 48v 17mah battery so my range has been vastly improved and i no longer have to worry about range anxiety.
The UK one looks just as good but why would a British bike not have mudguards? 😂 Also, you don't have to pay additional money for the 750W version with the USA model.
