You are like Netflix I just want to binge watch And thanks for fixing the door I ordered the part months ago but waiting on new door speakers to do both jobs at once
I had the same issue with my old S5, it’s pretty easy once you’re there, it’s just having the right tool to do the door bolts, they’re a security bit almost, I believe they’re like an M60 or something.
I had this issue with my leon. Seems like a common problem in the VW group by the looks of it. Drilling a hole into the grey box and spraying wd40 in it worked for me. My back lock totally ceased up though which took a little more sussing out. Full inside door off for it to pop open then not close again 😂 that rear door was a nightmare. They all work perfect now though

I had the same door lock issue on my Audi A3, hardest bit is removing the door card. One little tip: when attaching the linkage arm from the door handle pull on the handle very slightly while snapping the clamp around the link. This stops any rattles as it leaves the linkage under tension. Don't lift the handle too far otherwise your door will not latch shut at all!
Bought an 09 S5 last year. Absolutely love it. It has everything, panda seats, carbon fiber trim, bang and olufsen system. Has a small leak just like yours, too! Haha. I did a muffler delete on it. I spent $200 at a buddies shop cutting off the mufflers and welding pipe and tips I picked. Much better than spending $1500+ on an exhaust that is essentially the same thing and it sounds great!! Excited to see what you do to it!
You did well to get the wiring harness off the coil packs without snapping anything. I had to do this job on my S5 V8 last summer and it was a pain in the arse getting the leads off the coil packs without damage. Agree about the plugs. I found a set of actual official Audi service plug set (all 8) on the bay and they were just rebranded NGK Irridiums with the standard gapping, nothing unique or clever about them.

Really good point with the Castrol oil.... i really like and agree with it. Just one friendly suggestion with this kind of oil filter much better to put some oil in the oil filter house too before carrying on with oil in the engine. Keep this big v8 less dry

I love that color on the A5 Coupe, especially with chrome details. Add the old B6 S4 19" rims and you're home. Aside from the headlights needing to be absolutely mint to look good this car ages really well.
I took the risk of swapping my a180 Mercedes for one of these back in 2017 when I was 19 mine had 90k miles I brought it from a dealership to find it had a power steering leak ended up costing a fortune but I must say the miltek non res sounded amazing and makes up for the errors that can come with these higher mileage cars hope you get it all sorted

Hi Mat I bought a 2006 S6 5.2l V10 in March this year for £6.5k - former Cat N write-off repaired - with Miltek exhausted. Lots of the same faults you've already mentioned and more surfacing every month. She's very demanding. I've been "unblacking" my S6. Returned to a stock grill, took the film off the brake lights, because there's lots of chrome trim round the window, mirrors, etc. which seems too much hassle to black too, and actually with so many "black" versions of cars on the road I felt it actually made more of a statement to have the chromed original styling. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your S5 though.
wow not watched for a while as ive been busy and more interested in mercs having 2 so when the E class was sold i didnt watch as reguarly but still kept upto date with the tt build but going from 2k(or how ever many you had at the start of the e class vids) subs to 50k quickly. well done lad
This is a great project, a big Audi, I have enjoyed the TT and BMW, but this is a great upgrade for your channel, and you do everything outside and not in a spiffy workshop in California. 👍👍🇬🇧
Also I agree with your comments on oil. I change the oil on my cars every 4-5k and I'll use whatever is cheapest, provided its the correct grade and meets spec
Like others i had the same passenger door lock issue on my similarly aged A6, i bought the part (you got a bargain at £12, i paid double that on ebay :-)) and didn't fancy tackling it myself (looked too fiddly) but you made it look so easy to replace, wish i'd done it now and saved on labour cost. Greetings from the US! I’ve owned my 4.2 Audi S5 for 3 years now and a few problems I’ve come across since I bought it (had 108,000 when I got it, it’s my daily now has 149,000) so far a coolant transfer T that sits below the throttle body disintegrated and leaked coolant all over, not a hard fix or costly. My Two high pressure fuel pumped failed (if u get a low fuel pressure code than try the high and low sensors first as they die quicker if that don’t work new pumps) my started died and that was the bitch and a half to do, basically dropped the sub frame to get at it along with my Motor mounts which at the time I noticed where shot. DO A CARBON CLEANING!! Very worth it 10000% to make the car live again with power and torque. I have really a few things done a JHM crank and alt pulley, exhaust and intake. Best of luck man! Message me if you need any tips or info one what u go going on!
I had the s4 avant for a couple years word of warning that oil could be from the head gasket, be careful of the timing chain if that goes bye bye engine and they aren’t cheap. I loved my S4 but they are needy motors but great fun, looks like a nice one u got though.
Hey, Thank You for this! I have a 2011 A5---- But love it! When I saw that V8 ... I lost my mind...but that's an S5..lol... My car was a garage queen and I guess the owner thought it would run forever with little to no work (a doctor). Also it was maintained by a... Ford dealer.... I know.... I'm still messing with it..again thank you for the videos!
It’s fun to see an UK audi S5 4.2 I have an 2010 Audi S5 4.2 US spec I use it as a weekend car bought at 80K miles now has 139k. only had to replace Cat convertors that was under recall so it was covered by audi dealer , also I had to replace coolant reservoir for leaker and steering return line hose , The radiator is Also known to leak .... carbon cleaning is recommended as well cool video
I watch a lot of videos on YT, but very rarely comment. That said I subbed when I got my E87, but as an ex Audi owner I'm very interested what you will be able to do with this as it has a lot of potential. Hopefully you won't forget your BMW whilst you're working on the S5!
I'm trying to get my head out of getting ann Audi s3, and you making it real HARD mat! Great vid . You work really hard at making cars right. Thank you.
I just ripped out the whole airbox and stuck a big k&n closed cap air filter in my A6 Quattro Avant 3.2Lt. It really cleaned up the look under the hood, and i can hear the rumble of the intake now. But, i can smell now that it runs a bit richer cause of more air intake
S5 V8 Owner here, too. I’m curious to see where you go next, mine has just hit 76K and is wanting a carbon clean badly, I’d like to see how you choose to tackle that. I’m going to attempt to clean it manually I think.
Great video m8! Loving the attitude and the quality. One thing I personally would like to see is you showing more of the assembly/disassembly in real time. Its just something I like seeing and learning from, but maybe its not what you channel is about, that is ofcourse up to you. Keep it em comming either way! Peace! 👌
This is so interesting to watch! Love the sound of that 4.2 V8 lump, I wouldn't bother with a carbon clean though had mine done and all it did was caused the engine to random misfire from 1 cyclinder to another and could never find a solution

They wont because their online service history most independent garages cant access. And most ppl go to indy's. My s5 service history is only online for the first 2 years

Halfrauds or Asda for cheap Castrol, but as long as an oil meets the set requirements (does not need to be castrol for vw etc) then there are no issues using it.
I'm looking to get a bigger car over my MK1 TT and I am always scared upgrading to bigger L cars due to the amount of L's that come with it lmao. I'm confident in servicing my TT and have the proper computer OBD tool (VCDS) which you should get if you need to diagnose codes etc. properly as it will go in depth and show you stuff that the OBD readers wont.
Great videos, was just a recommended by TH-cam it’s 2 am and not wanting to go bed due to your vids! Keep it up
It’s fun to see an UK audi S5 4.2 I have an 2010 Audi S5 4.2 US spec I use it as a weekend car bought at 80K miles now has 139k. only had to replace Cat convertors that was under recall so it was covered by audi dealer , also I had to replace coolant reservoir for leaker and steering return line hose , The radiator is Also known to leak .... carbon cleaning is recommended as well cool video
I watch a lot of videos on YT, but very rarely comment. That said I subbed when I got my E87, but as an ex Audi owner I'm very interested what you will be able to do with this as it has a lot of potential. Hopefully you won't forget your BMW whilst you're working on the S5!
Thanks for watching & commenting! There's still so much to do on the 1series so there will deffo be more vids to come on it 🙏
@@MatArmstrongbmx Make sure you finish the E87
I'm trying to get my head out of getting ann Audi s3, and you making it real HARD mat! Great vid . You work really hard at making cars right. Thank you.
I just ripped out the whole airbox and stuck a big k&n closed cap air filter in my A6 Quattro Avant 3.2Lt. It really cleaned up the look under the hood, and i can hear the rumble of the intake now. But, i can smell now that it runs a bit richer cause of more air intake
Crazy how your channel is growing, you deserve it!
S5 V8 Owner here, too. I’m curious to see where you go next, mine has just hit 76K and is wanting a carbon clean badly, I’d like to see how you choose to tackle that. I’m going to attempt to clean it manually I think.
Quality video mate, rate how you jam multiple fixes/mods into one. Makes for a better watch rather than the usual 15 minute video for an air filter 😂
Good stuff...The door lock issue is typical Audi....Happens throughout the range...Done both of them on my S3....
I'm gripped to this rework job mate. Well done. Great content and subscribed.
Good editing. Pleasure to watch. Keep up the excellent work.
Great stuff! Nice and straight forward, no frills - appreciate you taking the time and making the vid 👌🏻
You have improved so much from the Audi TT days!
Great video m8! Loving the attitude and the quality. One thing I personally would like to see is you showing more of the assembly/disassembly in real time. Its just something I like seeing and learning from, but maybe its not what you channel is about, that is ofcourse up to you. Keep it em comming either way! Peace! 👌
The sump nut is notorious for leaking if not replaced newly when oil changed. Happened to mine twice. My left door did the same also!
Great video mate , real work for a change happy to help !
music is killin it , no music , make it raw like art :)
This is so interesting to watch! Love the sound of that 4.2 V8 lump, I wouldn't bother with a carbon clean though had mine done and all it did was caused the engine to random misfire from 1 cyclinder to another and could never find a solution
Definitely like bro you deserve it..Iv started my own TH-cam channel and it’s hard work 😓 hats off to you iv being a subscriber from the start of your channel..keep up the hard work we all love it.
LIFE ON THE THROTTLE I agree mat puts the work in.
LIFE ON THE THROTTLE do enjoy this channel..when you starting on the TTRS bro.
Hey nice to see any work vids on the a5 keep me coming. Dont use wd40 around any seals or brushing as it will perish the rubber .
If you keep this up you will be at 100k in no time, subbed and liked, keep it up bro!
As I'm about to buy a used A5 this is brilliant; informative & entertaining, thanks mate!
So nice to see some A5/S5 content on TH-cam! I’m always after inspiration for my A5 and there not much on here!
Im siting here re watching the S5 series where this is how Mat got famous and how I discovered him and god damn the evolution is incredible!😍
great music, great vids. fair play to you. I have an 06 Audi A6 Avant 2.0 tfsi. Not near as beastly as your machine but inspires me to do a bit more with it
SO stoked I found this channel 👌🏻👌🏻
that car is definitely worth fixing. love the color. the perks of being a mechanic. my mechanic has an Audi as a daily.
I want to do some project work on my e82 1 series coupe, trying to learn how to do it all, your videos are a massive help! Wouldn’t mind a few pointers 😁
Matt if you go into Audi they will print you off a digital history of when it’s been serviced by them
Thanks man I will deffo check it out
They wont because their online service history most independent garages cant access. And most ppl go to indy's. My s5 service history is only online for the first 2 years
@@MatArmstrongbmx good look with that.
J66OHL 😂😂 Are week smokers not aloud to service there cars 🤨
Jesus some of the shit people chat, some of you need a slap, car smells of weed, “oh well that rules out it having any service history then”
Dick
This is an 08 car, it won’t have been recorded the same way as newer cars, but there’s clearly a free opportunity to go and ask, i have successfully done this before so stop thinking you know it all paaaaaaaaricks
Glad u picked an Audi! I personally think it would look great in a different colour.
Halfrauds or Asda for cheap Castrol, but as long as an oil meets the set requirements (does not need to be castrol for vw etc) then there are no issues using it.
Looking forward to this I have the 3.0tdi a5 and hopefully will learn a thing or 2 about the car from watching you!
Regarding oil. I was always told “oil is cheaper than metal” so I always over service, it’s just good practice 👍👍👍👍
I used to have a 2008 S5, I do miss it, probably one of the best cars I’ve had. Good choice..
Thanks for the content! Door micro switch fix was useful to know :)
Love your channel. S5 owner from the US. Much love from Colorado brother. Can’t wait for the next vid. Subbed!
Hi love it Mercedes cap working on a Audi car 🤣🤣 My 2013 Volvo V40 has a door lock project too 🙈 Your absolutely right about the oil 👍🏻 I change mine every 5/10 thousand miles and never had a bad engine and we do high mileage 😀 Stevie 😎
