I’ve had one of these for two years now. It’s been through two separate fire academy’s and it accompanies me on every shift (Firefighter/EMT). She’s been beat up and put through the ringer but she keeps on going.
Oh wow that's awesome to hear and that's as all the proof that's needed! Even more reason for me to really put it to use now lol. Thank you for what you do to keep your community safe and I'm glad that such an awesome watch is there to help😁
There was another commenter who got theirs for $90 and I lost my mind and said deal of the century but somehow the deal can get even better!! I think it's safe to assume that that was probably one of the best $80 ever spent😂
Hello firebrother Kordel! I've have been working for the past three years with two different Casio G-shocks (G9000 and G2900). They work fine, but get fogged up heavily with sudden temperature changes. I'm currently trying to find something durable, that I can wear ALL THE TIME, meaning the watch has to endure smoke/water diving, shocks, and station activities such as sports and sauna. Most of my shift uses expensive Suunto and Garmin fitbits, but I prefer a proper watch. Would you recommendthe Citizen Promaster, or some other watches? What is popular on your station? Any fogging with the Citizen? Cheers from Helsinki (Finland), stay safe!
Wife got me one for Christmas. She got a great deal on it too ($170). I love it! It’s my first diver. The only bad part about it is I’m sitting here watching reviews on divers because I want another…and another.
I purchased my Citizen Promaster Diver used on eBay for $50. The original owner never wore it. I have been the owner of this watch now for ~ 5 years. It is a go to watch for me and I love it. It is a classic with classic styling. It is dependable and very comfortable to wear.I wear it to the gym, I wear it to work, I wear it as a dress watch. Thank you for this video.
I have owned this for 2 years. It is my daily wearer. I wear it every day and only use other watches when I dress up. It is excellent and an amazing value. It is also durable! By the way, it is easy to remove the dive tables from the band if you don't like them. I am a real recreational diver. I have done over 30 dives with it and no issues. It may be the best deal watch deal on the planet.
One of the best watches for the money on the planet. I have 3, i wear it and strangely enjoy it more than my omega seamaster. It’s that trusty never let you down watch.
I have a Rolex GMT Master II, Omega Seamaster, Glycine Combat Sub, Seiko PADI, Casio Duro and G-Shock solar atomic, Timex Harborside Auto and the new DeepWater and 3 Citizen Calibre 2100’s that are over 20 years old and still running 100% - my Promasters are the best of all of them - simply phenomenal watches.
Great review. Fantastic review! It's so refreshing to watch an honest Citizen review. This is a great watch. Citizen makes great watches. You can't get a better watch for the money than a Citizen Pro-master. Best watch for the money.
Thank you so much for this review. Im a big fan of citizen watches for there buold quality and design but even more for there eco drive technology never needing a battery. I own 2 eco drives and live them. I have been eyeing up this watch for a few weeks now. I love the look.its smart, simple and really stands out. Now after seeing your review it has made my mind up and going to order one. Im no diver nor swimmer but this looks amazing as a everyday watch. Thanks for your honest review and the tip about the strap. Also glad you didn't edit out your little confusions when describing the watch to add that bit humour 👍
Great video. I’ve used both Citizen and Casio dive watches for years and they’re the best. As a diver I need a watch that’s tough, reliable and accurate. Citizen dive watches have never failed me. They’re currently my number one choice for diving and just my everyday watch.
Thank you so much, glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah i really need to start exploring Citizen a bit more alongside Casio's non G-shock offerings as well. And if an actual diver is saying citizens have been performing well over the years than no more proof is needed! Weirdly enough of all my dive watches its this promaster that makes me want to learn how to dive and if I were to dive I think this would be the watch I would take. What's your take on Seiko divers in comparison?
@@thewatchidiot if you think watch collecting is expensive, diving is another level. But back to the subject, I prefer Citizen over Seiko. First, Citizen’s eco drive is the best. It’s much better than solar charging. Second, Seiko’s quality control is just terrible in terms of the bezel alignment, indices, date alignment and day/date magnifiers. For a watch that’s around $400-1000+ I find it unacceptable. A lot of people don’t mind these problems and love Seiko but I’m not one of them. It’s the esthetics that bother me about Seiko not the movement. Also Seiko’s bracelets are just terrible in my opinion. It all comes down to what you like and are used to owning and using. I do use a dive computer but they can and do occasionally fail. When this happens you need a reliable dive watch which Citizen totally meets. There are several other dive watches I’d feel totally confident with including Sinn, Damasko, RGM, etc. but they’re much more expensive. For me, I’ll stick with my Citizen and Casio for diving and everyday use. Hope this helps.
I have 2. I use one most days on a nato strap. Really comfortable and 100% reliable and accurate. Love it. I too choose this to use over more expensive ones I have.
This is a nice review. I just bought this watch in blue because I know two people who have it - a friend who also has it in blue, and my brother-in-law who has it in black. EVERY time I see it, it catches my eye, so aside from being a great value for its features, it also just looks great. Again, nice review - well done!
thank you for the suggestion on shaping the strap, it totally worked!!! i had already ordered some NATO and a rubber strap by the time i saw this review, but i would have skipped the new rubber strap if i had seen it first. takes a meh strap and makes it usable, i only changed to a NATO strap because i don't like the bumps near the lugs, but it was pretty comfortable after re-shaping. i love my promaster eco-drive, i got it after busting my SKX trying to regulate it - it was losing 45 seconds a day, which is lame, so i tried to fix it and failed miserably. after that experience, i wanted something reliable and fun that wouldn't break the bank, this fits the bill.
I purchased the black dial model in 2017 wore it as a beater and didn't look bad after years of use. Recently I purchased the 45mm Fugu and gave the eco drive to my wife and I think the 150 is the brother to the Fugu! Anyways I needed another beater so Macys has this watch in black dial with green ion black plated bezel with green insert. This is a damn good watch. I have taken it into saltwater, hikes, motorcycle rides and then some and has held up! Cheers to Citizen for making a iso budget diver.
You are so right. This watch is severely underrated, I have one and its better than an SKX in every way. And its weird, I have a tiny baby wrist, 6.25", its the source of much consternation and shame, something I have to overcompensate for by buying oversized trucks and large caliber pistols, but somehow this 44mm wears great on my sadly effeminate wrist. When I'm wearing it I look down and my manhood is redeemed. Citizen the Redeemer I call it. ;D
Yeah on paper it's better than the SKX for sure! In real life too I'd say but SKX somehow keeps pulling me in despite the awful 7S26 movement lol. If I were to actually go diving tho I'd have the citizen on my wrist for sure. Loool Citizen the redeemer is a good one! Definitely the watch to show people the Citizen way😂! I'm actually not too surprised that you can pull it off! It wears small while still having big wrist presence which is a tough act to pull off especially while having lugs. I'm glad to hear that it's working for your wrist!! Also you should take a look at the Seiko Tuna, if you haven't already, bc it's got big presence and yet it wears so comfortably and pulls off the same feat as the promaster. It's pricey but it's a uniquely awesome experience
I feel your pain, my wrists were 6.75 inch and after I lost some weight they shrank to 6.5 and I could still use to drop more fat. All my large tool watches are starting to look like over compensation for something. I had a tuna for years, it does wear well. Same l2l and bezel size of an skx. I prefer the promaster because it's a true beater without a marine master price tag.
Same … 6.25 and small hands but I love big dive watches ….and I really don’t care. If you like the watch wear it and if someone else thinks it looks too big that’s their problem. It’s all about lug to lug and at less than 51 you can get away with even 50+ mm. I have a couple of Aqualand Promaster divers like this with 50mm diameter and I love them.
Ive had the blue dial version for almost 2 years now. It is the most accurate watch that I've ever owned. I have an app that lets you measure your watches against the atomic time, and it basically loses less than one second per month, which to me is incredible. Best watch I've ever owned and worth every penny
Accuracy with this watch is "luck of the draw'. Citizen states a minimum accuracy of +/- 15 seconds/month. Mine gains 12 seconds per month, just within spec. Generally I expect a quality (non-HEQ) quartz movement to perform within 5 seconds per month (1 min. per year) and HEQ to be near or better than 1 sec/month. The case, bezel and lume on the Citizen Pro Diver EcoDrive watch is quite well done for the price - VERY solid, with the bonus that it's an ISO certified diver. But obvious cost cutting trades have been made regarding movement accuracy, consistency, strap quality and crystal material choice. Still a VERY solid piece and great value, especially on sale. No wonder this has become a "cult classic", much like the Seiko SKX series (now discontinued), that had its own set of issues but whose virtues far outweighed them for most users.
I've had the green bezel, black dial for 18 months. The only reason I don't have this on my wrist every day is so I can give chance to wear my other watches. I absolutely love this watch.
I've had mine for over 6 years and going strong. Great coffee cup tip!I'm using a MAX FKM waffle strapp on mine, £20 from Amazon, so comfortable and really suits the watch.
I own two of these Citizen watches, a blue and a black. I wear mine everywhere almost everyday with NATO straps. I sold the rubber dive band on eBay. Great review. Thank you.
Thanks man glad to hear you enjoyed the video!! I really want to get the blue one as well, it looks great and I might want to do an oil fill mod on that later on as well
Agree on all points. I removed the original strap immediately and replaced it with something else. I've had it on a nato, which was great, but now I have it on a rubber strap from zuludiver. I also saw that Mark from Long Island Watch now offers 2 custom made steel bracelets with proper end links which could make the watch an all rounder.
I am wearing the blue version now, it sneaks onto my wrist a lot, like a favorite pair of shoes, its a sneaker! I also have the black version on the bracelet (BN0150-61E) Both are fantastic watches. I swim and snorkel so aside from the Casio Duros & G-Shocks these were "gateway" conventional dive watches as well as my intro to Citizen Eco-Drive Promaster watches... The Eco-Drive Promaster Citizens have been great watches, the reliability and durability of solar quartz. The Citizen Eco-Drive divers are low profile, professional looking and the BN0150-61E bracelet has a no-tool ratchet adjustable diver extension clasp that is amazing and has ruined me for other watch bracelets!
Mine had been ordered recently. Just praying for everything flows greatly when it arrive. And am planning on put some black/grey/cream natos on it. Cheers!
Glad you're about to experience an awesome watch! fingers crossed it works out for you I still love wearing mine to this day and it looks incredible on grey natos. I havent tried it on a cream nato but it sounds like it would be pretty good!
Great video I really like Citizen. I am a huge fan of their watches. You hit the nail on the head with the value being so high on this watch. So Seiko needs to take note.
Thanks glad you enjoyed the video! Yeah this was my first real experience with Citizen and its been great and yeah the value is just insane. As much as I love Seiko, their value proposition has been dwindling fast over the past few years. They need to step up!
Sure thing I'm glad I could help a bit! And yeah I was in the same position as you! At first I didn't really think twice about it and then I thought it would be too big but somehow it turned out to be a stunner!
Forgot to mention this in the video but while I'm ok with the size, I do wish that Citizen made some smaller dive watches 42mm and below. At that point I can definitely see more more Citizens coming into the collection! Also are there any new small Citizen dive watches out there right now?
There's the "women's version" of that same watch in 35mm. There are also various NY0040 in 41mm, but with automatic movements. Those 44mm quartz versions are really great for the price - especially the versions that come on a bracelet, with solid links/endlinks + a milled clasp with a diver's extension - those things are pretty much unseen on any other brand at that price. I just can't wear a watch that big, unfortunately
Old version 41mm*45mm BN0100-51E on bracelet for about 200 euros. The solid bracelet version of this one is the BN0150-61E if you can find it,cheers man enjoy the video.
You could wear the watch and let the strap eventually conform. (Took me about a week.) When I first bought this watch, I was looking for a replacement strap almost immediately. That dive table appeared cheesy. What changed my mind is I already have watches on leather, mesh, Nato and bracelets. I wanted to use this watch in the water, so I stayed with the pure dive look. I've grown to enjoy it immensely. I also know this strap has fortified pins and is made sturdy for diving, so aside from being ISO certified, having this stock strap gives me further confidence when I jump into the sea.
Hi there, maybe someone has already said this but the "No Decompression" table printed on the band, the time is "surface to surface" definitely not how long one can stay at the bottom for at the corresponding depth. If one does that scuba diving then they will be in trouble. Its a great watch. I owned the previous model for over 20 years of diving and caving and basic rough about activities, still working but the bezel finally broke off! Now a big big fan of the BN 0176-08E 300m diver and the old 2014 Aqualand's for diving, not day wear and yeah, if you fall asleep on either of those two watches you stand a good chance of paralysing your damn arm LOL from their bulk, as Citizen says, do not sleep with them LOL. I've also reviewed them extensively.
I have the BNO 150 myself Been on my wrist for 5 months now It came on that rubber/polyurethane strap which I found to be uncomfortable. I wore it for a month thinking it might break in adding a bit of comfort. Long Island Watch makes two types of stainless steel bracelets for the 150 and 151. LIW has a jubilee and oyster, I bought the oyster ( BRAC 35 ). It's much more comfortable, matches the watch perfectly and allows the watch to be worn for semi formal occasions....it dressed up the watch quite substantially . I really like it.
I’ve got a crazy idea about watches , where you make your watch yours when you find the best strap for it, because normally the watch company’s don’t put the best straps on the watches , even when it’s a bracelet sometimes I change the bucle . So try to change the strap for other color or material so you can totally love your watches
Nice review, it's a great all round watch for watersports ,replacing my strap with a zulu nato to be used in the sea regularly, your right in saying its thin enough to not keep snagging on things which happens with loads of dive kit on. Citizen made a winner here. Latest film out. Deep fear ,one on the woman's wrist and looks great.
I was lucky enough to pick this up off Amazon for only $90 back in late 2019, and this has really filled its purpose as my only dive watch. Build quality/durability is amazing for the price, and I've got a couple silicone and rubber straps that pair well with it.
my god all this for $90 is the deal of the century and at that point I can totally see why it would be your only dive watch! It really is special and it goes well with all kinds of straps so you chose a good one for sure! (still cant believe how good a deal $90 is😂)
I, much like yourself, love this watch and hate the strap. My solution, however, wasn't to boil it but replace it with a Barton silicone and it made all the difference. Loved the review except for the fact you never mentioned why one "shouldn't sleep on it", unless you were meaning not to hesitate in buying one, then I'm completely on board. Keep up the great work, Cheers.
Yeah ive tried it on barton rubber straps and it was pretty awesome! I might try some of my other straps to change things up a bit since its got 20mm lugs. lol yeah i didnt explicitly answer why citizen shouldnt be slept on but the video as a whole gave all the reasons! For me the reason why it shouldnt be slept on comes down to the awesome design and quality that can be had for less than $250. Also the oxygen tank that it came in really left a lasting impression that Seiko will likely never achieve with their unboxing experiences (this coming from a Seiko fan lol)
Barton straps are good. I 100% would not trust them for anything other than desk diving though. Those little pins they use for quick release are not gonna hold up to much force.
Hi, me again,, it's just arrived, no nd table, and no scuba tank,, I've given it the "boiling water treatment" and the strap is perfect,,. I think it's an import from Europe somewhere, to us here in the UK, (Amazon),,.. It only has a 1 year warranty, 😱,, so fingers crossed it doesn't break, but it seems fantastic,, All the best,,, John.
Just discovered your channel; great video! I'm about to buy this watch once I decide between blue and black. Any recommendations on a bracelet? Or nylon strap? I can't see myself using the stock strap.
The spec sheet size of this watch is factual -- I measured mine -- but it really does look and feel smaller. Easily one of my favorite grab-and-go pieces. Eco-Drive rules them all in that world.
Yeah the dimensions were super bizarre especially when officially measuring it up! I love the size as a full on tool diver that I would actually dive with so yeah definitely one of my favorites too 😁
I have the same watch and have been wearing it for about 3 or 4 years. I'm also a fan but the weakness for me has been the spring bars. The watch has fallen off my wrist several times when I've managed to catch it while putting on a backpack. I took it camping and white water rafting with the original strap but next time I'll use a NATO so that there's less chance of me losing it. The rest of the time I've been wearing it on a leather strap which has generally worked well (except for falling off!).
Have mine on an Uncle Seiko rubber strap. Super comfy. My more expensive watches sit while I wear this one most days. Mine is 5 years old and has performed flawlessly.
I bought this used off of eBay a month or two ago for $160.00. Awesome watch. I charge it (the lume) up with an inferred flashlight before bed (about 25 seconds) and it lasts all night. No complaints.
I know I'm 2 years late to the show, but at 3:25, I believe you were trying to say the bezel has a low profile. On another note, frome the design, to the lume, to the price point, I like this watch, but not a fan in the least of the strap/band because of the unnecessary writing and the ripples near the watch itself which (if I decide to pull the trigger) would quickly see about having swapped out.
@DaltonMirklestein I ended up getting this watch last week and for anyone interested, I am happy to say that the latest pieces produced do NOT have the dive table on the strap. With that said, I still swapped it out for something in black, without the ripples.
I just ordered this watch and they discontinued the ND limits! I contacted citizen and after 10 emails explaining how much I loved the brand for adding that feature they finally agreed to send me a new strap
This is the diver watch I'd actually dive with! Especially with the dive table on the strap. Ecodrive is completely reliable and robust and it can take the knocks. The bezel action is more like something from a higher end watch too!
Yeah I totally agree if I actually had to dive with one of my watches it would definitely be this one! I just have to learn how to dive now lol And yeah the bezel clicks are really nice and uniform which elevates the watch further😁
@@thewatchidiot yeah! And the crazy thing is I have a Pelagos 😂 I actually used to dive a lot but not anymore. The watch I dived with was the K005795 ecodrive. It was my only watch for about 10 years and did everything well...even as a dress watch! Hmmmm ...you got me thinking that I have to start diving again!
Finally , someone who likes their No decompression Table on the strap!!!! I always thought I was the only one , cause people looking at me strangely for pointing out that feature !!! I've got the blue dial version and am loving Citizen watches!!! (Fanboy? Maybe , kinda )
A brilliant review TWI! I just realised that I do not have an analogue quartz diver in my active collection unless I count my old solar G-Shock Mudmaster. I've a few Citizen watches that are all Eco Drive analogue and every one of them the second hand is aligned with the markers (the same goes for my Casio G-Shocks for that matter). So far none of them have played up for accuracy or poor finish after ~8 years. The Promaster in this review might just be one I might pull the trigger on. Many thanks for the off the wall strap curve 'o' matic suggestion that consists of a coffee cup and hot water although I'm not sure I'd want to dunk a leather strap in it. I might just try my Peleagos rubber strap though should I ever get around to swapping the superb bracelet. Keep up the great work TWI!
Thank you so much Anthony! Oh man no quartz divers is a spot that needs to be filled! theres something so utilitarian and wonderful about a dive watch which is already so functional but then throwing in arguably the most functional of movements. I'm glad to hear that your ecodrive watches are going strong so I can expect great things from mine! Although mine has died once before which as far as I know isnt great for the battery but thats my own fault. Lol that leather strap was the only one I had around I was too lazy to get a different one for the video😂😂 But yeah the coffee mug trick was a life saver for sure and definitely necessary for such a cool but otherwise unusable strap. For some reason i never thought about doing this with the Pelagos strap so I think I'll be doing that very soon indeed! fingers crossed it works!
This is a great watch great value for money. Great lume, solar and a proper 200m diver. I have the blue one and the orange second hand gives the dial a pop! I noticed that you had made another hole on the strap. I actually removed the dive limits with a bit of goo gone.
This was the kicker for my watch collecting habit: bought from Amazon second hand for $200 in mint condition, not even any wear marks on the strap. And it came with the dive bottle box. Great lume too. Sapphire crystal would make it 100%.
Yeah no one really "needs" much more than this watch bc its just so good! $200 is a solid deal in this market but yeah I agree that a sapphire crystal would have been awesome, so maybe the next gen will get it!
I'm wearing the blue one (BN0151) as I'm watching this. Mine is on the OEM bracelet that I had to order on eBay. I spent about as much on the watch (sale on Amazon for $120) as I did on the bracelet but the bracelet is worth it for how well it's made and the fact that it has a ratcheting extension. I was almost about to sell this watch, but like you said, the value packed into this watch is really hard to beat. It makes my $400+ Seiko King Turtle look bad for losing ~10 seconds a day, having crap packaging, and not even including a bracelet or signed crown.
oh man for $120 its an absolutely unbelievable deal! Also in terms of the bracelet there seems to be a version with all hollow links and then I've occasionally seen some with all solid links. Which version is yours? I'd totally want to buy a solid bracelet for it as much as I like the strap. Yeah when it comes to value vs seiko this watch blows them all away, I love seiko and i have many but theres simply no denying the better overall build of this promaster. additionally with seiko prices going up its becoming even more difficult to justify
The original bracelet is with solid links and solid end links. Ratcheting clasp is absolutely stunning and very comfortable. I sold same watch with strap and bought another with bracelet. It was about 230-240 usd.
I owned several "Luxury watches" and have a wide collection. The watch I default to is a solar pro-master diver, I have a few but the red and white one gets more wrist time than the Rolexes, Cartiers... Omegas, Tudors and Panerai.
Which watch will be more durable and reliable. Will be using it for hunting, hiking, outdoor activities. Can’t decided between the basic Seiko prospex turtle automatic or citizen pro master eco drive ? Also I want it to be more fashionable so I can wear to dinners and casual functions, offices..
I can’t speak on the Eco Drive version, but I have a Promaster automatic model NY0085-86E that is a fantastic dive watch. There isn’t another watch anywhere close to their price point that I feel can compare to the Promaster series. The only things that I feel could be done better would be that the metal bracelet on mine has folded links which I would prefer to be solid, and I’d prefer a sapphire crystal over the mineral crystal it comes with. Truthfully though, the price would undoubtedly have to come up to change those things, and I think it’s great as it is. Citizen is really doing things right with the Promaster.
Hey buddy wonderful review…I believe you should another video on this including a strap show just to get a feel of how it would fair in various situations…
Fantastic video! Citizen quality is exceptional in the hand, it’s the size of their sports watches on wrist that always turned me off. But you really made me want to pick up one of these pro masters…
Thanks man! Yeah i really hope Citizen seems to have missed the fact that smaller watches are back! Fingers crossed for some smaller releases although I'm grateful that this one wears smaller. Given the price it makes getting one just that much more tempting lol!
I have one of these Citizens and have been wearing it two or three days a week over the last five years, especially when hiking and swimming. It's light but solid and robust, hasn't picked up any scratches yet so I would vouch for the mineral glass that's used. I disagree with the reviewer about the strap, though. First thing I did was change it for a comfortable, quality aftermarket band (from Vario) but I get how the original band might suit some people. Unbeatable value for money.
Thanks for the video. Its an excellent watch in many ways. I bought one a while ago but returned it straight away. Love the look, but the date window is just too small. Hard to view the date. The strap was an awkward fit and the watch didn't sit right on my wrist. Maybe the trick with the cup and water might have helped. It was a pity because its a great looking watch, and ISO rated, at a reasonable price. I have various dive watches including an SKX007. My 'daily' watch now is a Divex (200m). Not unlike the Citizen, but not solar/eco-drive, and good value at about £100. Thanks again for the video.
One thing you did'nt mention in the indices section. Dive watches have a destinct shape to the 12 o'clock so that when you are in a blackout situation with just the lume you can still tell the time. all of my G-shocks have lume but no distinct 12 o'clock indicator , you cannot tell what time it is. I have one of these watches and its one of the best watches have ever bought
I don't have this exact model, but I do have 3 Citizen Promasters and they are all great. I have never been let down by build quality (and I have beaten the ever living ______ out of one of them) or reliability. I think Citizen unfortunately gets overlooked many times and people don't realize what they can get for their money compared to Seiko.
Great video, thank you. I picked one up on sale on Amazon for $150 in November. My only issue is that my seconds hand doesn’t line up well, and for some reason that is bothering me more than it should.
I have this very watch and I love it. It's my daily driver, so to speak. I took the original strap off and replaced with a NATO strap and I've tracked down an original Citizen ProMaster stainless steel bracelet for it (that's on order). One of the best watches I've ever owned.
Yeah its a seriously good watch and the level of refinement is pretty incredible given the price! Citizen did a great job with this one and yeah i looked into getting a bracelet for it, the one with solid links and endlinks. Let me know how the bracelet is if you get a chance!
Thank you very much for the curving tip! Worked perfect! :-) And btw: I bought mine for 129 EUR on Amazon with 30% sale. Dont know if it was a mistake, but I am happy with it.
Great video. I have one and I love it. It’s my go to watch. I have much higher horological pieces. But, my pro master is just so comfortable and easy to wear. It does what I need without worrying about it getting damaged..I have it in the stock bracelet. I am not sure I would like it as much on the strap.
Thanks man glad you enjoyed it! Yeah this watch holds the same place for me as well it's here to be worn through anything that I wouldn't want to subject my more sentimental or pricier pieces. Is your bracelet the hollow link version or the solid link version? I've mostly seen the hollow ones but once in a while I see a fully solid version which I cant seem to source
My 150 is on my wrist right now. I liked it so much, I bought the blue face 151 as well.. I agree with everything you've said. These Promasters are the perfect starter watches; a great value for the money. My only suggestion, lose the rubber strap and go with a SPECTRE (Bond) NATO. You will be shaken AND stirred (the 151 looks great on a bracelet). You can wear as a tool watch, but these are "dress divers"; they look good with a sports coat or a suit.
I'm looking at it now; it does have a small face compared to the case. Most divers do. But you've got the bezel to consider as well. I think as a whole, it balances out.
Thanks man, much appreciated! Yeah the orange hand really sets off the entire watch and gives the watch an elevated feel. Just such a cool watch! Hope you've been well! 😁
Nice vid . If you think the strap is bad you should try the BN 7020 “ Solarzilla “ one….. almost impossible to get on and off . Until you hit the water that is , over a dry bag with two pairs of gloves on the strap with its extension its flawless;)
I have this watch in blue. Hated the strap with the text but I don't Dive.... :) I put my watch on a Nato and love to wear it when I'm biking and working out. Thanks for the Video!
Nice, I love the blue dial version, I actually want to get one at some point lol! Yeah the text on the strap definitely wont work for everyone but thankfully it looks so good on nato straps!
Awesome welcome to the channel! Glad you're enjoying the citizen coverage I definitely want to check out more from them! What are some of your favorites citizen watches?
@@thewatchidiot My favorite is a Grand Touring Sport automatic. Unfortunately, its no longer in production but it can be had on the 2nd hand market. Keeps great time and it's a nice looking watch. To my eyes anyway.
I love my citizen eco-drives. I have one that’s 23 years old and still going strong.
@@thewatchidiot also forgot to mention, got it for $80 on sale 😎
Wow amazing!
How do you remove the dive tables?
@@LukezyM Isopropyl ( rubbing ) alcohol
I agree, casio and citizen are the best/most reliable
😂
Same … 6.25 and small hands but I love big dive watches ….and I really don’t care. If you like the watch wear it and if someone else thinks it looks too big that’s their problem. It’s all about lug to lug and at less than 51 you can get away with even 50+ mm. I have a couple of Aqualand Promaster divers like this with 50mm diameter and I love them.
Put in the effort and make your wrists thicker.
Nice that Citizen have broadened the colour ways from red and green dialled. Good review, thanks.
8:59 that was my exact experience, first actually nice watch and when I saw the scuba tank I was ridiculously excited, this thing doesn’t disappoint
Thanks for the video, the accordion strap that you mentioned is not to give a little, it is to hold o-rings for dive tanks!
I really want to get the blue one as well, it looks great and I might want to do an oil fill mod on that later on as well
Smart, so far I own the blue version. Thinking about purchasing the black one. And I like zulu straps
I absolutely love my Promaster Diver. The quality is light years beyond anything Seiko is putting out at 3x the price point.
Couldn't agree more. Absolutely love mine. They really nailed it. Punches way above its weight in quality, function, and utility.
That's a watch that's never really been on my radar screen, but after watching your video, I've gotten interested. Thanks for the video.
Citizen Promaster Mechanical Diver 200M NB6021 41mm should be coming out sometime this year.
Old version 41mm*45mm BN0100-51E on bracelet for about 200 euros. The solid bracelet version of this one is the BN0150-61E if you can find it,cheers man enjoy the video.
There's the ladies at 36.5 mm...
You could wear the watch and let the strap eventually conform. (Took me about a week.)
When I first bought this watch, I was looking for a replacement strap almost immediately.
Great point on shaping the watch strap - the one and only not-so-great experience with my Citizen Eco.
You should make a separate video on that strap bending technique
I have the BNO 150 myself
Been on my wrist for 5 months now
It came on that rubber/polyurethane strap which I found to be uncomfortable.
The trick to form the strap is pretty clever. 👍🏻 Subbed.
(still cant believe how good a deal $90 is😂)
Hahah thats exactly when I got mine! Haven't seen the price go that low ever since.
I dived with ny-0080 and it was soooo cool. Citizen really make proper and great dive watches that you can trust fully.
Keep up the great work,
Cheers.
@@lazydaze3134 100%.
Hi, me again,, it's just arrived, no nd table, and no scuba tank,, I've given it the "boiling water treatment" and the strap is perfect,,.
I think it's an import from Europe somewhere, to us here in the UK, (Amazon),,..
It only has a 1 year warranty, 😱,, so fingers crossed it doesn't break, but it seems fantastic,,
All the best,,, John.
The rest of the time I've been wearing it on a leather strap which has generally worked well (except for falling off!).
picked a blue one up from amazon a couple of weeks ago for $209
I really love it
Thank you for sharing the tip to make the stock band more comfortable, it worked perfectly and I'm wearing my Promaster way more because of it!
It's an incredible watch for the price. I love mine and they sell for around $200 here in the UK. Absolute bargain!
Yeah for $200 it's even better! Crazy to think that barely a couple years ago they used to sell for 100-150 dollars!!
Where were you 2 years ago, when we needed you?
@DaltonMirklestein I ended up getting this watch last week and for anyone interested, I am happy to say that the latest pieces produced do NOT have the dive table on the strap. With that said, I still swapped it out for something in black, without the ripples.
@@Italiantonio76 Good job Anthony 👍 Did you get a tropical or a waffle strap?
BN151 or Seiko SNE499 would be my desert island watch. Both are awesome.
Finally , someone who likes their No decompression Table on the strap!!!!
I always thought I was the only one , cause people looking at me strangely for pointing out that feature !!!
I've got the blue dial version and am loving Citizen watches!!! (Fanboy? Maybe , kinda )
I have it on the metal bracelett with the ratchetting divers extension. I payed a bit more, but it was worth it. It's great for on the fly adjustment.
Nice video. An awesome and cool watch at an affordable price. It really gives me joy wearing it and it's literally worry free.
@@thewatchidiot I would recommend you get a 31mm screen protection for it.
YOU cannot go wrong with the black or blue dial anyday of a regular day! Love mine!
Yeah i completely agree with you, its such an easy watch to wear and love, and the price makes it even better!
On strap issues, I wear mine on a nato, but Marc at LIW actually makes two types of bracelet for this one. I plan to get me one soon.
Very good watch ... the first watch I buy two years ago ... the blue one with steel bracelet .. will stay in my collection
Thx for the video, thinking about getting one of these but how would you compare/rate it against the Seiko prospex solar 43.5mm?
I don't have this exact model, but I do have 3 Citizen Promasters and they are all great. I have never been let down by build quality (and I have beaten the ever living ______ out of one of them) or reliability. I think Citizen unfortunately gets overlooked many times and people don't realize what they can get for their money compared to Seiko.
Citizen > Seiko
I am torn between this one and a turtle, where is this made and how long would the battery last? Thank you.
I confirm your review .. I own one from 2 years (blue with original stainless steel bracelet) and it's a amazing watch
love mine, watch is like a magnet, always go to it, i own a hardscape business, it is great active watch
Looks like a toy ,small hands and dial for a 44mm
I'm looking at it now; it does have a small face compared to the case. Most divers do. But you've got the bezel to consider as well. I think as a whole, it balances out.
@@KRW628 Almost bought one but in person , the dial size and those "midget" hands discouraged me. No presence..
Love mine, strap is good to go after a couple of weeks
As usual, a great review. I need to grab one of these at some point. That orange hand really does it for me.
Thanks man, much appreciated! Yeah the orange hand really sets off the entire watch and gives the watch an elevated feel. Just such a cool watch! Hope you've been well! 😁
I have a 6.5-inch wrist, but the Promaster fits perfectly fine due to the short lugs. This watch pairs very well with a mesh bracelet.
I have one for about 4 years I think. Like it way better than any Seiko I have. I just hate it that they do not come with saffier glass
Great review! Just ordered it in RED
Thank u for this super cool and detailed video! Just ordered one :)
Trying to work out if I go with this or the Citizen Titanium NY0100-50M. Is one a better watch?
Uncle Seiko Tropix is on mine. Looks great 👍
Can you suggest any alternative strap for this watch? Waterproof material not metals
I have a 6.5 inch wrist, I usually wear 40mm case size ... Do u think I could wear this? It's so solid n cheaper than Seikos
Nice vid . If you think the strap is bad you should try the BN 7020 “ Solarzilla “ one….. almost impossible to get on and off . Until you hit the water that is , over a dry bag with two pairs of gloves on the strap with its extension its flawless;)
Great presentation, thank you.
I love the curve strap technic. Thanks for the hack
Sure thing, glad I could help! definitely can give new life to lots of straps😁
New subscriber and I love this coverage of Citizen! One of my favorite brands.
Cheers!
Looking to buy a nice watch thX for the review

Trying your strap trick to make the strap more comfortable.
