I'd love for him to do that, but while Eliud Kipchoge is still alive and running I think it's just gonna be tough. Bekele is the greatest 10,000m track runner of all time, but Eliud is the GOAT marathoner -- the one time out of 11 races he got 2nd, the winner set a world record (that Eliud later broke).
After the marathon performance in Berlin, I can't help but consider Bekele the greatest ever. And I'm afraid he's only going to get a lot more impressive than Gebrselassie. Its just unbelievable how he makes world class athletes look like a joke
From 1993 to 2003 Gebrselassie competed in 6 world outdoor championships, 3 indoor world championships and both Olympics, and won 10 golds in races that literally can't have pacers. How is that only running with pace makers lol?

Bekele is also by far the greatest cross country runner ever with 11 titles (Tergat comes in second with 5 titles) not to mention his success on the roads. Of course it wouldn't be fair to El Guerrouj to compare him to Bekele but if you insisted on comparing them, then Bekele is definitely the greatest. That's not even a contest.
hicham el guerrouj beat bekele in athens olympics at the 5000 meters after winning the 1500. He also has the fastest mile time ever run 3.42 which bekele cannot run close to that time at the mile. Also there are several videos that suggest when he was training at altitude in the desert that no other runner could last more than 3 days training with him. Look it up.....
Just because El Guerrouj beat Bekele in a championship race full of tactics does not suggest that he is a better 5000m runner than Bekele. Bekele has run 5000m times that have never been touched including his world record of 12:37 among a host of other world records. None of the criteria you mentioned about El G qualify him to be a greater distance runner than Bekele. Yes El G has run faster times than Bekele in the mile but also Bekele has run faster times than El G in all distances above the mile. What makes you think that Bekele could not last 3 days of training with El G? And by the way greatness is not determined in training. Its determined in races.
My point is that if they had went head to head at 10000 meters it could have determined who was the best runner at the mile,5000 and 10000. We will never know now. But I do agree that at this point in time as a active runner Bekele is one of the top 3 best runners in the world. Along with Mo Farah and Kipchoage. There has been speculation that a new force is about to hit the running world as kipchoage has a running mate he said that can out run him. May some day be the best of all times if he competes.
Keep in mind - the one direct comparison we have between El Guerrouji and Bekele (2004 5000m final) was run 5 days after Bekele had set the Olympic record in the 10000m! Even with that post race fatigue, Bekele nearly beat El Guerrouji!?!? Nothing against El Guerrouji (1500m world record), but in the mid 2000s in the 10k with both fresh... I'd put my money on Bekele.
Keep in mind fellow world class runners all stated when they went up to altitude camp that no one could stay with el guerrouji. They said most couldnt last more than a few days with him.
