We just happen to be identified by two nationalities. God bless you, your whole family, and all Eritreans. Stay strong!
@@yote3900 I am a sixty nine year old Ethiopian man living in America for the last nearly five decades and I have ran these distances to earn college scolarship. I have watched Ethiopian runners starting from Mirutz Yifter. God had allowed me to live long enough to watch Kenenisa and as most of the sport enthusiasts say we may not see anyone like him again. I am always in tears watching these. I am grateful I came from that region to enjoy watching and running.
As an Ethiopian who ran track and cross country races with Irish imigrants runners in the streets of NYC in the eighties and now in California cities; I listen to this song in tears to inspire me in my late sixties to keep running. Your green Irish hills are ideal to run around . Keep running.
Had to comeback here after Paris 2024.. I grew up watching Kenenisa and honestly he made us all to be proud to be Ethiopian. Congratulations to Tamrat Tola! let the legendary Ethiopian legacy continue!!!
the power of art is like a camera, it gives an eternal life to a single moment!! and the same is true to this song. love you all of my motherland kids.
@bmxphenom50 its in the lyrics if you translate it to english... i believe a part of the chorus goes "haile im looking back for you, i cant do this without you" showing kenenisa's and haile's relationship as a student and master... almost as if 2 close warriors part from eachother in combat... might be scary if your teacher has always been there for you and you find yourself all of the sudden leading the front for your country
Omg. I just want to cry, I remember when I was a kid me and my sister loved listening to this song, we run around our house made from mud singing this song . I was 6 years old at the time, I'm 23 rn. I miss back home. How life changes.
Here’s an English Translation of this amazing tribute song made for the great Kenenisa Bekele by Teddy Afro: th-cam.com/video/9d9QfeohtIw/w-d-xo.html The song is an emotional dialogue between Bekele and Haile Gebreselassie (including Sileshi Sihine) during the Olympic 10,000m final race in 2004. The context of the song is that these 3 athletes finished 1-2-3 at Paris WC 10,000m final the previous year, pushing the pace together and going sub 13 for the 2nd 5k of the race. They were planning on doing the same thing at the Olympics too but, unfortunately, Haile (who is a two-time Olympic and multi-time world champ at the distance) struggled and fell behind. Bekele and Sileshi kept looking back for Haile, waiting on him and hoping he'd catch up, but it was not to be. The amazing thing about this song is that not only the melody/beat sounds so good with very touching and emotional words in it (while the lyrics are incredibly rhyming too), but the song was completed in a very short period of time (reportedly "within 12 hours" following Bekele's 10,000m win at the Olympics). The English translation of the song is more of a word for word direct translation while also trying to deliver the correct translation of its messages as accurately as possible. For that reason, the order and structure of the sentences may not be as clear as they would otherwise be in the original language, Amharic, but hopefully the translation as whole is still able to be understood for foreigners. Also, it's worth mentioning that while the song as whole is in Amharic (the national language of Ethiopia 🇪🇹), the singer Teddy also made a rhyming lyric towards the end adding "Keneni kenya", which means "our Kenenisa," not in Amharic but in Bekele's mother tongue, Afaan Oromo language; that's quite significant. This is a very motivating song not just for Ethiopians but for foreigners too, especially for Bekele fans and for those who like the sport of running. Hope you enjoyed the song with the translation! And to fellow Amharic-English speaking m Ethiopians, how would you rate the translation? Would love to see your thoughts/feedback on it! Cheers! 🍻
Remembering that day everybody went to bole airport to receive our heroes. What a great day that was. What unity, joy we had. May those feelings return. Amen.
Today, Saturday, August 10, 2024, Tamirat Tola won the men's marathon in 2 hours, 6 minutes, and 26 seconds, setting a new record for the marathon. Tarik tesera🦁

Merry Hagos I agree but it’s kind of hard to call an oromo or southern Ethiopian habesha when they don’t see themselves as that. After all, historically they were not apart of the kingdom of Aksum (where people began classifying as habesha). Feel free to correct me if what I’m saying isn’t factual. 🙏🏿

The greatest song of all time for Kenenisa, and Teddy thank you for your effort. Athletes are the pride for the country
You got it, no need to translate
Yes, precisely
Their love is unconditional
Forever our heroes

Here’s an English Translation of this amazing tribute song made for the great Kenenisa Bekele by Teddy Afro: th-cam.com/video/9d9QfeohtIw/w-d-xo.html
The song is an emotional dialogue between Bekele and Haile Gebreselassie (including Sileshi Sihine) during the Olympic 10,000m final race in 2004.
Cheers! 🍻

what is habesha?
Trueinfo
Habeshas are northern Ethiopians, Amharas, Agews, tigrays, and argobas.
Bro y’all need to stop changing the meaning of Habesha it means 🇪🇹and🇪🇷 period!!!
