You truly inspire creativity like no other person that analyses poems on the internet. I really appreciate your videos and the service you are doing to so many a level students. You are making an important difference in the academic lives of thousands of students around the world doing A level English. Thank you, thank you thank you. YOU are a hero.
I cannot express how appreciative I am of this channel, you really are amazing! I recently just started my A-Level lit course but due to my very poor mental health i’ve struggled with my attendance. You have helped me catch up with the immense amount of work i’ve missed- but not only that- you’ve helped me re-establish my love for literature! The way you speak about these poems is so very interesting, and quite frankly, mesmerising. I believe you could consider becoming a teacher or a tutor (if that is of interest to you of course). I definitely feel your passion for literature shines through your videos. No offence to my actual teacher but you are 1000% better. 😂You just have that charisma! Sorry for the long tangent but I just wanted to express how much you’ve really helped with my mental health and work! Thank you so much. ❤❤
Hi! Thank you so so much for your sweet comment, it really made my evening to hear that I am making a difference!! I’m glad I could help you catch up, and even love literature more, such a lovely thing to say. I actually tutor people in English already, so I’m very happy you think I have potential:) I hope all goes well for you, and take care, mental health is really important. Good luck with your studies xx
I love the line in the first stanza "...the way my spine curved under it like a meridian". That line alone could warrant further analysis. You have to like a good coming of age poem that has such a strong economy of words. Ms Flynn paints a vivid journey in short lines. This is a skill that I need to master😂
I adore that line too. I was travelling on Sunday, and standing at the airport that line came floating back. It truly does speak to the effectiveness of the work. We have a saying in Russian, that translates roughly to "Concision is the sister of talent." I think that saying is not about me either, I love words so much, I can never use two instead of four 😂
