@@rainfallprojects501By the way I also watched all of your videos like a series in Netfkix. Finished them all in three weeks. I tried to contact you but your social medias were down but could reach your wife and send my best wishes to all of your family from Turkey.
Same here. I started watching when JD posted a photo album to his barn door build on Reddit. He hid a sly link to the video build series in the imgur album. Been subscribed ever since and I've watched every video.
It’s great to have new Rainfall videos! I can’t help but notice that we haven’t seen Drake lately. If he has crossed the rainbow bridge, I hope it was peaceful. ❤
I'm a boat builder by trade. I use strips of mdf about 40mm wide & a hot melt glue gun to pattern around posts & beams to get an accurate shape to cut items like your bench to walls. I hope this helps you for your future projects. I love your channel.
@@rainfallprojects501 You made him some stairs, so I’m surprised he didn’t bring Bourbon for Kelly and you either. Jason had a chisel in his pocket too, could’ve just cut those notches with that. Ha ha. (You’ve done colabs before with various people/channels (Martin, Avid/Sami/Vectric, Moth, Aquor, Miles, etc.): I’m South of you in da Burg, same as Scott/Essential, so it made me think that he (or Buckin’ Billy) could probably hook you up with a Douglas Fir slab, or another colab with Cam/Blacktail for some walnut, or Buff Dudes would like your gym and kettlebells, or there’s a lot pretty close to you/us (Cam Hanes as well: Hammer on Pisgah, amongst others, Ag too, etc, etc, or Michael Cthulhu! When I was an apprentice cabinetmaker, I was paid to beat up furniture to give it an 'antique' look. Embrace the dents and scratches on the solid wood top - lots of character and memories. It would be good to see a large patternmakers vise installed in your workshop one day. I can't get an Emmert vise here in Australia, so I had to buy a Taiwanese knock off. It works great and is worth more now than I paid for it. Keep up the good work. 👍
Turned out absolutely beautiful and functional! Now it all makes sense why you built Jason’s beautiful fold away stairs!!! I had no idea you two were neighbors. It turned out perfect for his needs too. I want neighbors like this!!!
In case you don't actually know, his neighbor is Jason Hibbs the guy behind Bourbon Moth Woodworking, another very good and popular TH-cam channel in a similar vein to Rainfall
Really great to see another video - these are like panning for gold - sifting through the dross (other videso on YT) to find the occasional glittery nugget!
Wow, as I rebuild the Workshop for my father I used 20mm ( ~1") as the table top which was already an upgrade from the 30 year old 15mm one. Seeing this 4" one is just mindblowing. Thank you
The only thing that I don't like about your videos, is the time in between each one. I understand, that being a farmer, husband, and father doesn't leave much time to create videos, so I am happy when I get a notification about a new video. You can tell that you take the time to create quality videos. Too bad, you don't have a neighbor like Jason does to help you. . How long did it take to make that bench? No one can ever accuse you of making anything that isn't well-built. Thanks for the effort you put into each project. Wishing you and your family all the best. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, I really appreciate that. Ya I’ve had to back off from videos to make more family time, but I still love doing it when I can. I started the bench back in January, but I get really busy on the farm in the spring and summer so the project got put on hold.
I couldn't help but reach for my bowling ball. Project is looking fantastic.....The powder coating is impressive...as big as the frame was. tHanks for the video!
That is a great work bench. Very few people would have sent it out for powder coating. Nice detail. Having a accomplished craftsmanship like Hollywood on stand by is a big help.
Put the drawer bottoms in a dado, no chance of the bottom falling out and much easier to assemble. also to mouint the drawer slides just cut a piece of plywood to the right height for the top slide =, mark them all , the cut it down for the next height and so on.
Food for thought…stained glass windows above the workbench designed by your wife. Would look awesome. Been here since the beginning and really enjoy the projects. Subscribed to bourbon moth well.
I'm a big fan of using scrap piece of wood to install drawer slides at same height relative to inside base. I don't have to be as fine/precise in my holding as the wood does it for me
How to save that surface when you’ve got projects on it….. start saving cardboard Now. 👍🏻👍🏻 Love it that you’re back. The quality of you work Rules 🫵🏻💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻
The Willamette valley progression: Grass seed capital of the world to Hazelnut capital of the world to TH-cam craftsman capital of the world… Good to see Jason jump in, now waiting for Cam from Blacktail Studio
use a little painters tape wrapped around your finger when spreading glue makes the cleanup a little faster especially when your doing it for long enough that the glue starts to dry on your finger.
So happy to see you knockin' out awesome projects again. Been following along since the early barn days. Welcome Back Brother!
Thanks so much for sticking around that long! The early barn days feel like a lifetime ago

Same. He reminds me so much of my uncle. I learned a lot from him every summer working the farm with him. Amazing skill and vision for projects!
U are like a long lost friend who reminds me of happier times from when i first knew u ...still waiting for part 8 of the deck build......
Haha, love this. The unfinished barn deck is not a proud point for me… maybe this winter?

I KNEW I recognized that voice.

Never seen a drawer that could be classed as "structural" before - absolutely excellent!
In case of earthquake, proceed to nearest drawer
That is a workbench to last decades, great work
Thanks, that’s always my goal is to build something that’ll last. Time will tell!
Neighbors who bring their Festool collection over are the best kinds of neighbors.
Agreed. He didn’t bring any beer though, so there is still room for improvement.

Very nice. Your grandchildren will be building projects and memories on that bench. We'll done.
I’ve built many projects on my grandfather’s bench, there would be nothing cooler for me than to return the favor
Best collab ever! Love both of you guys!
Imagine having BurbonMoth as your neighbor!! Two of my favorite TH-camrs together. Nice work.

Being sich a soft wood top pick up some plywood work sheets in 3 or 4 ft sections lor some alum / steel plate if you need to pound on your table
Ya know what, this guy kinda looks like Tom Brady. Anyways, awesome build so far man. Nice work
Yesssss! Love this work!

that is one beefy table top!
Great to see you back and fun to see Jason make an appearance, how high was his appearance fee??? Great job.
It wasn’t too bad, we had enough to cover it once we drained the girls’ college fund
5:58 why the head shake of what looked like a bit of frustration?
Excellent work guy
Haha, I think I drilled too deep and went through the backside. I used some tape on the bit as a depth guide, but wasn’t careful enough
Btw, how much for a set of drawers??
Awesome
From now on, he will be known as "Bourbsy" 😁
That couldn’t have been Jason from Bourbon Moth! He would have used the domino when joining the two pieces. You have an imposter.
In Jason’s words, zip zap zoop there you have it
Those drawers would be awesome for bee boxes. Just leave out the bottoms
Bitchin'.
I've had plans to do something similar for a decade or more...need to get on with it. Inspiring.
so.. what happens when someone inevitably drops something behind it, and ends up below the workbench ? 😬
Beautiful maybe put a piece of rubber between the floor and tabs i dont think the powder coat will hold up to that abuse long term.
