    Great video! I messaged you about this and the Pilsen zoo and I got a fun fact about the tortoises in the Gharial enclosure. I am pretty sure they are elegans and not platynota, but what is more interesting, during the summer when they raise the water temperature by a few degrees, they actually go for 20-30min swims. I took some pictures of it and posted them a few years ago on the tortoise forum, maybe you can find it in the indian start tortoise category.

      Yes we did! Glad I was finally able to go. Pilzen is still on the list.
      Man that is really cool! I will look it up and pin your comment for more people to see. Thanks for adding this bit of info.

    Prague Zoo just shot up in my rankings for European collections I want to visit, they have so many species that are rare to nonexistent in US zoos!

    Hey man, glad you liked it here! Agreed on the sheer size of the ZOO and species. Im Czech, i live in Prague since i was 7, now im 23 and i've been to this ZOO so many times and i never managed to see everything in one day. Even when i came close to opening hours haha. Im really happy to hear you praising the enclosures, thats what i love about the ZOO too. Everything is thematic and just so nice looking, even the older enclosures as you said. The best thing is that everything is getting actively renovated. For example, the terrarium area starting at 7:25 was actually where elephants were kept. It was probably one of the worst enclosures when i was a kid, the elephants were just standing around shaking their heads (which is a sign of boredom/stress), but now the modern Elephant valley is probably my favorite enclosure of the whole ZOO. The worst blunder we have now is the polar bear enclosure, so small and boring. Thankfully new enclosure is already in the making, its supposed to cost 1.2 billions CZK. Many people criticized it actually, 1.2bil is really a lot. Its even supposed to be the most expensive project of its kind in history. But overall, i can't wait to see how this ZOO will look in few decades.

      Great to hear and read! Also for other viewers. You indeed clearly could see a quality difference between the renovated and older parts. My favourite where the Ibex exhibits. Just so cool.
      Im sure I will go back next year to see what changed and then also add Pilzen.

    These videos are very well put together. It’s so neat to see the different ways they design the enclosures. Definitely gives some new ideas for how to build things at home. Thanks for continuing to show us Europe’s impressive collection of zoos!

      Glad they are appreciated! Thats the reason I make them. I think many keepers can replicate a lot we see in many zoos.

    Thank you for the cool insights! The red light spots, the visible cable ties and the dark terrariums of the heliophilic animals are unfortunately a mood killer.

      Ben je toevallig ook tegen de heuvel omhoog gaan lopen? Er waren namelijk enkele verblijven met europese reptielen die het gehele jaar daar konden blijven.

      Dank! Was echt tof.

      There are so many factors that impact this that it is not possible for me to give a clear answer of reason based on solely this info.

    was there a reasson you weren allowed to film some animals?

    • @terrariumchannel
      @terrariumchannel  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      It was not allowed in the building with giant salamanders (were impressa where also housed). I believe it was of the possible flashes or electrical pulse but am not sure on exact reason.

    • @chaotix7275
      @chaotix7275 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hey, Praguer here. Some animals are just photosensitive. Its a general rule in Prague ZOO to take pictures without flash. Could cause issues like epileptic seizure or just freak them out. I dont know why are you unable to take pics of the giant salamanders tho.

    • @denisaschuldesova3096

      @@chaotix7275it is because of their photosensitivity i believe as the staff members are very strict about this rule i believe it could harm the animals
