Campsite Review: Baines' Baobabs Camp - Nxai Pan National Park (Travel in Botswana)

Camping in Botswana
Despite the heavy downpour, we manage to make it to the Baines' Baobabs, and our campsite near to them. This despite a few thoughts from staff at South Camp that they might not be reachable. We're in luck though, as the edge of the pans are entirely traversable, and we don't get stuck or bogged down. There are a few slippery spots, but staying in the tracks, our hard-learnt lesson from our previous adventures through the Makgadikgadi pans, serves us well this time, and, except for wheels caked in mud, we reach our destination without any fuss.
The Baines' Baobabs themselves are spectacular, and this is our first time seeing them. When we reach our campsite, with a big baobab of its own right in the middle of the site, we immediately regret not booking more nights here. It is pin-drop quiet and peaceful, and the only sounds are from birds and barking geckos. Exactly our type of site.
Completely off-grid, the campsite doesn't have water and there is no water available nearby. There is no electricity, though it does feature quite a nice bucket shower (you'll have to bring your own water for that as well), and a very nice long-drop toilet. A firepit and a braai stand (with grid) are your only other amenities. This is the ideal place to "get away from it all" and completely disconnect and unwind. We will definitely be back whenever an opportunity presents itself.
