You have an amazing wife and life partner. I own a speed boat and there is no way on earth she would take such a long trip with me. We lived in Miami and when we took the boat out all she wanted was to cruise up and down Biscayne Bay and sun bathe. If i hit high speeds she would start bickering. We moved to the Hamptons here in Long Island NY and my boat hasn’t touched water since. Would love to meet you and have a boat meet.

My uncle has a house on the Pamlico River just a few miles down river from the Fountain boat factory. Loved hearing and seeing those boats back in the late 80s and early 90s. Even got the pleasure to see a few of Reggie's race boats on shakedown runs. Congrats on beating the record. He is a competitive guy and much respect for beating his mark. I watched that documentary the other year.

48 year old in Jax, Fl who has been boating all my life. I live on the water. What y'all did... man, bucket list item. I'd even be happy at 10 knots too. Lol. Doing it with the one you love though makes it even better. We did a 7 week 9500 mile RV trip in 2015 with our 3 boys from Jax to Cali, Or, Wa, Mt, Tx, Az, Nm, Nv, etc. I felt Sarah talking about planning it and then being over. Y'all did an amazing job!! This wasn't just an adventure of 2 people racing down the coast in a speed boat, this was a testimony of a husband and a wife and what it truly means to put every oz of faith and trust that you have into each other. Wow! Mike and Sarah well done! Great adventure that included some risk and safe smart decisions! I took my 1965 17 ft Boston Whaler from RI to Key West in 2018 with a 70 hp Yamaha. Was certainly not trying to break any records but just needed an adventure. Took me 22 days on the water. These days I take an F62 Princess back and forth from Jamestown, RI to Sarasota, Fl. It's a bit more comfortable. Much respect!

The place they stopped in Tybee was where I once stopped to get fuel. But they were closed. The dockmaster was on his way home going across the bridge saw me leaving. He turned around, got someone with a boat to chase me down, and let me know he would open for fuel! I've been going north and south 3-4 times a year like this for 25 years. From now on, I always stop there!

@Howe2Live it was late in the day, and my mate and I were trying to figure out our next move when a boat rushed up behind us. The passenger hollered, "You need fuel"! We topped off and made it to Charleston that night! 25 years as a delivery captain, and no one has chased me to sell fuel! What a guy!

Awesome job and you two do a great job of capturing the essence of the trip. Having done a few long distance (500 mi) runs in the DAYLIGHT at about half your speed, and nighttime sailing for KW to Cuba, I can’t even imagine running 80 at sea at night. You two rock!

That was a cool adventure! I used to boat on the Chesapeake. I remember looking for those towed barges really hard when boating at night. Thanks for the video!
I was on Marin Headlands and watched a yacht try to sail between a tug and the barge. They hit the cable which turned them upwind towards the tug. They were stuck on the cable and were run down by the barge. Their sail ended up plastered onto the bow of the barge and eventually their yacht was forced under. Everyone thought they were dead, but eventually we saw two people in the water. They had gone under the barge and popped out behind. The tide was flowing out of the Golden Gate, and the tide there is pretty strong. We called the Coastguard and kept track of the two survivors. There is a Coastguard station just inside the bay on the north side of the bridge, but the cutter was already out and was refuelling at Fisherman's Wharf, so it took them about 15 minutes to reach the survivors. Once they were onboard we went down to the Coastguard station. They wanted statements from us. After that we met the survivors, who had just sunk a friend's boat that they had borrowed for the weekend. Very lucky to be alive.
