I absolutely love how you explain the intricacies of creating editable templates, super insightful! I've been playing around with canva too, but also using another tool called boost app social It has some wicked AI writing tools that can craft captions and descriptions in seconds, really saves my time and helps me stay consistent with my posts!
Yesss! I’m using that app too! The hashtags and quotes library in there are so clutch.

I can make social media templates no problem, but I didn't know how to go about them with clients in terms of exportation and editability and had no idea about the asset export feature in Illustrator. Love this! To clarify, the purpose of designing them in illustrator was just design them, then you re-designed/copied them over to canva so that the client can edit the individual elements? What part did exporting the pngs from illustrator play?

Yes I find it easier to design the layout in Adobe illustrator as it can be really hard just starting in canva (obviously if you’re happy with going straight into canva then that’s great - just got to work out what works for you). Then for exporting the PNG’s this was to just show a quick way of exporting elements if it needs to be done, like the logos, shadows, patterns, anything on the template that you can’t make in canva etc! If there are more individual elements within your templates then they will need to be exported as PNG’s and added onto canva🧡 then the bits that need to be edited like the background colour in canva can be created on there. I always get a lot of questions about exporting so just wanted to show this too x

Hi Abi, thank you so much for this video. Id like to ask a question, do you recommend learning Photoshop alongside my knowledge of illustrator, as i would use illustrator for logos, branding and all then Photoshop for posters, flyers and banners, or would you suggest i just focus on illustrator and learn how to create banners, flyers and everything else in illustrator?

And when you send over the link, will they need to have canva pro also, as well as their own license for the main typeface used for their branding, for licensing purposes? Thank you!

Canva Pro I am not sure, but the client always pays for the typeface. Otherwise, he can't use it for his commercial purpose.

Do your clients need to also have the canva pro in order to use the templates you created (on your pro version), or would they be able to use the free version?
What do I need to be doing to be able to do what you're doing? I am so new to this , just used canva before, loved it. If i wanted to start designing social media templates, logo, branding etc... where do I get started ?
Learn Adobe Illustrator, and take some graphic design courses online 😊 This is a good place to start!

Hi there 👋 Thank you very much, appreciate the kind words! So I only design these templates as part of an add-on/extra within someone's branding packaging, I don't offer this service on it's own 😊But maybe if I had enough interest I would offer it as a stand alone package!

No but if you use premium subscription fonts or design elements then they aren’t available for your client unless they have the premium subscription.

So the story designs are 1080 px by 1920px , but the phone mockup you've shown which is probably iphone 12 or more, its screen size is 1080px by 2323px , so how did you fit the 1920px designs there?

Hey Abi! Great video as always! One question, I see that in Illustrator you have the Primary Font of the brand, which you later use in the Canva templates: can you create canva templates for clients using imported fonts that the client does not have? Or does the client have to import the same font in order to be able to use the template?
