    Hi there ! Just ordered one here in Europe wanted to thank you for the demos you made on these new Bourgeois guitars. I think Bourgeois was spot on on these ones, for people like me who don’t want to spend the 10k on a full US version. Still expensive but they seem to be offering some good value, I will find out in a few weeks 😊. Thanks again for your videos, very well done.

    Did I miss something, did you mention that these guitars are still partnered with Eastman of China like the original Touchstone models? Dana voices the tops then Eastman assembles per bourgeois specs

    I have a “real” Bourgeois (JOM) and I tested out the standard touchstones locally. Very close in tone and playability. These Madagascar models seem a “touch” (sorry), or more , above the standard models. Yes , partly made in China ,but Lewiston still makes the tops and braces that and Les the final setup. For many, a lifetime investment at a pretty reasonable price.

      Partly made in China? 98% made in China..Not a reasonable price..Try to resell one of these and see just how much depreciation it has.

      @@billdedrick1914It has Bourgeois on the headstock and the top is hand tuned by Dana's team. Pretty sure it will resell for a decent price. How do I know? My first guitar was a Sigma, Martin's low cost line made in Taiwan. Didn't even say Martin on the headstock. When I sold it 16 years later it was to a guitar shop actually for more than I paid for it new.

    This is a great looking and sounding guitar. The main thing that gives me pause for thought is that here in Ireland I can buy a Martin 000-28 for this money or a Martin 000-28EC for €1k more. At this price point you’re firmly in premium American/Europe build territory. That said it looks beautifully built and sounds bloody nice!

    Some people are turned off because it's made in China. Quality is Quality know matter where it's built. Is it a Martin, no it's not, what you get is a boutique type of guitar at a more reasonable price. To each their own.

    You can buy an Eastman with the same woods for a lot less. Since Eastman bought Bourgeois, I’m certain that Dana probably has nothing to do with these builds at all. Him approving these guitars means nothing. Martins makes their lower end guitars in Mexico and they’re priced accordingly.

      According to the bourgeois website the tops are touch-tuned by hand by Dana and his team. But go ahead and just keep making up stuff on your own.

      yes, I would rather have an American made Martin guitar because the Martin is a proven better guitar than this and a D-18 is several hundred less for a proven design made in America. It’s not xenophobic or wrong to reject a guitar because it’s made in China, and by the same token it’s not wrong to buy a Chinese made product when it represents a good value.

    • @monkeysweeperguitar

      @@sc12100 it has the boutique guitar sound and it’s something better than a local guitar center factory guitar. It literally bridges the gap between factory made and boutique handmade. It is 110% a boutique guitar for the craftsmanship and time it takes. Is it built by one person? No but neither are the bourgeois guitars, Collings, Boucher, etc. this is a solid built guitar made by skillful people which is why Dana teamed up with Eastman. I would love to know what a boutique guitar is to you? It’s rare, limited availability and numbers. Uses rare and higher grade woods. Everything about it screams higher end. You just have so much hate for a country that you can’t see it. Shit if your buddy moved to china and started building guitars they would be “made in china” just play the dang thing… that’s all

    • @tonetownusa
      @tonetownusa 13 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

      @sc12100 did you know that bourgeois uses tons of cnc machines and tooling to make their "boutique" guitars in Maine? He actively talks about it in several youtube videos. There are probably only a very small few maybe less than 1 percent of all Luther's who are not using cnc tooling to build their guitars. We are talking about the Wayne Hendersons of the world. Old school guys. Define boutique? Boutique is a sound and a refinement of quality. Just because something comes from a different country does not make it low quality. Go buy a mid 2000s Gibson if you think USA means quality. Go buy a 70s Martin or even a recent Martin where the binding comes apart after 2 or 3 years. So sick of these people who scream 'Merica but do not even look around and realize that most Americans particularly the new generation don't exactly care about quality in their disposable world. Made in USA can mean a lot of things depending on the manufacturer. Lexus, Toyota, Honda. Mazda, Subaru. All reliable quality engineered by Japan and Korea and Asian subsidiaries. Meanwhile a Ram made in Merica has a recall because it can literally catch fire even when it isn't running. Smh
