They sound great. No complaints here.
I have been in the Eastman factory in Beijing. I talked with craftsmen who had worked there for well over a decade. They were rightfully proud of the excellent guitars and mandolins I saw them building.
I agree Eastmans are good, but there are huge consequences to voluntarily quitting your job in China. And your interactions at the factory were staged, with all messaging approved by management.

I love me a good d 18 but that country boy blew the doors off of the martin. Absolutely killer line of guitars. Your a heck of a player Quentin .
Quinton, attention to what details in a Bourgeois compared to a Martin Custom Shop? For me, it's the voice or sound of the guitar. Bourgeois tone taps the tops of the Touchstones to get the best sound out of the wood. Happy Eclipse Day! Thanks Paul and Quinton!
That Bourgeois sounds glorious, better than the D-18 to my earholes IMHO.
Dream guitar
Guitars are each individuals; that Bourgeois dread seemed a bit more articulate than the Martin D-18; each guitar would be an excellent first or second choice depending upon your own ears .
Wonderful guitars. I’ve played many ( and own three) Eastman but I’ve not played Bourgeois-Eastman. I’m very curious how much of a difference there is. Thank you
Never underestimate the PLAYABILITY of any instrument. Tone is critical, yes, but a seasoned guitarist will always naturally migrate toward an instrument that feels "right" in his hands.
From a lifetime playing, it's where Martin almost always wins.
Excellent comment, I too have had a lifetime of playing, and each acoustic guitar is slightly different, now get the Action right ( playability ) do it yourself carefully, or get it done professionally, and yes a Martin, Yamaha, or a Maton, all have very good Quality Control, Your ears and hands will tell you, kind regards 😊😊😊

as someone whose owned almost all the martin dreads over the years, i’ve only owned about 2 that DIDN’T need massive tweaks out of the box. i’ve also owned my share of bourgeois guitars, and none of them ever needed a setup from the factory. they’re always a dream to play. martins QC is all over the place. but even with the new touchstones, whenever i get to play one, it’s always consistently fantastic to play. that’s how it SHOULD be from martin. bourgeois definitely has playability here.
@@FlatpickRei I largely agree Bourgeoise make superb guitars (at least the ones made in USA). But having read what you wrote, it is astonishing you assume that because Bourgeoise and certain other makers set their guitars up in a certain way that suit your needs, they are somehow better than others.
We all know every guitarist is different, with specifically different set-up preferences, which is why most top manufactures supply their guitars from their workshops with a "de-fault" set-up which can then be adjusted accordingly to suit the player.
The playability I was referring to relates more to the construction, design and quality of manufacture.

I hear a little more mids and clarity on the Bourgeois dread
The Bourgeois dread has definetely more clarity, but nowhere near the midrange punch and warmth of the martin. Btw I have to admit thar it has the Bourgeois and not the Eastman tone, with grear clarity , definition and note separation .... and I dont like it just the way I dont like most Bourgeois guitars I ve played.

Bourgeois always has a little different tone of course than Martin, not for better or worse in my opinion, thankfully. Awesome job guys! I think comparing them shows the quality of what is coming out of the Eastman shop, and of course, they are hard to beat.
I've got an Eastman E1D, not expensive, but a phenomenal guitar.

Nice guitars. OM sounds more focused while dreadnaught does more powerful and mild.

It's kind of 50:50 as Dana was explaining it in a video, although it might be different.

So one might buy a guitar labeled Bourgeois and get a guitar made by Eastman ? And what about if the Bourgeois is a Martin guitar replica made by Bourgeois, mostly ? We might end up paying 5000 dollars and more in the end, for a guitar worth about 3k, or even 1800 dollars when made and stamped by Eastman ? Is this the goal in the end ? Rather confusing to say the least, it seems to me. But I don't understand English very well, possibly (and haven't been able to listen to a long part of the vid)). I understand better that topic now on some guitar forum, wondering if the name Bourgeois was going to loose value...
The Bourgeois is so much more articulate than the Martin. Martin is bracing in a more forward shifted pattern in a bid to harken back to their 1930s models. The only downside is clarity and articulation, but you get a much more open sound and can pick out harmonics more readily. Truly a matter of personal preference here, or, whichever instrument fits the music best.
Although I don't like the fact it's made in china with a top that travels round the world and back, I cant argue with the fact that it sounds like a quality guitar.
FYI Dana pronounces the "R" in his name.

Man sounds better than the martin IMO
Just think how much better he'd be with a few lessons...
Bourgeois is going to damage their brand. When I go to pay $12-15 grand for the real thing, how will I know if it’s half Chinese or not with Bourgeois pocketing the cost difference? Of all the companies they could have partnered with did they have to go with the Chi-Coms? Well they used to be a boutique brand, now they are rubbing elbows with the Alvarez guitars.
If it sounds good who cares where it's made? Unless you are a racist then it shouldn't matter the country
Different labels and different nut width. All touchstones are 1 23/32dns. And there are differences. I'm a Bourgeois employee snd the touchstones are amazing! Dana's vision is to put a highly crafted guitar to more people. Not everyone can afford 7k up guitar. Touchstones are definitely Boutique style built. Dana wouldn't put his name on it if not. No different than a taylor Mexico or Martin Mexico. Dana's the first high end to do this! But everyone has their opinion. Eastman is a fantastic company. They use more hand tools then we do. Eastman bought Bourgeois as an ability to add more people to the force ,create touchstones. But in no way are maine built any different they are better than ever
