    Thank you for the video. Very helpful. I did it. It was simple. But my mirror didn't reach to the furthest after replacing. I finally figured out that the Friction Damper Spring should be bent and get into the bigger hole instead of the side of the hole. If you are stuck with the same issue, try to bend the spring much.

    Thank you for this video! It made the process much more straight forward.
    I didn't open the grease pack, i just used some of the grease from the drivers side mirror.
    The biggest problem I had was putting the new mirrors on and getting the clips to clip. I hope they're all clipped!

      That was our concern as well, but pushing flat-palmed against the middle should let you know if it's not completely snapped into all 4 of the spots.

    So, to be clear... You just pried the bottom edge of the mirror glass straight out. Also worth noting is that there is a slot /clip built into the back of the mirror for the black connector. Just push it in there and it will stay out of your way. Just finished this install on my 2020 Outback. Everything was the same.

    Thanks! When I installed mine, I noticed there are guides for the wires molded into the plastic on the back of the mirror. The wire that is longer can sit under those guides, and the connectors for both snap into their own little spots, too. Just to help out anyone else that might be installing these.

    This was also helpful when the parts department at the dealership I bought my 2019 Crosstrek Hybrid procured the wrong mirror to replace mine which was popped out at 80 mph by a reckless motorcyclist. Having no experience with and little auto knowledge, this allowed me to "upgrade" my mirror with additional features all by myself! Thank you for this video.

    Hello there and thank you for the video and its info. I have a 2018 crosstrek and though it has the self darkening rear view mirror, it has the regular side mirror glass. When driving long times at nite and mostly when the eyes get tired, light from trucks, cars etc, passing on my driving side, blind the .... out of me...Anyhow, I located the kit mentioned above (J201SFL300), but it seems to be replaced by kit J201SFL301. Not sure of the difference...Anyhow, they average about $200, or a bit more...Anyhow, i think that it's worth it since the rest of the car is fine and with extremely low mileage. Any additional comments/thoughts, would be appreciated before I say "I do"...😁

    Excellent video. I used your video on a 23 Forester Base upgrade. Doesnt appear that wiring is there for heated mirrors so i ignored. I did have an issue where the clip you insert into that hole instead slid into a small thin hole right above that and caused the mirror to not get its full range and would cause it to "jerk". Attempted to pull out the mirror and fix but it IS NOT coming out. its in there. I was able to pull the mirror out enough to get the clip into the correct hole though.

    Hi Dirk, did you experience any clicking when you tried moving your mirrors to either far side? I was getting clicking and not really sure what was causing it, I ended up removing the mirrors and cutting off the little black plastic post these mirrors have that the original mirrors didn't have and after re-installing I was able to fully move my mirrors but they will click a little at the furthest point

    So are the wires already there for this option to be added easily. Im unclear what the wires were doing prior to you installing the mirror and how the center interior mirror communicates to the exterior mirrors. If you have a car without the center dimming mirror homeland, is it this easy to upgrade both without having to run wiring from point A to B?

    • @Twiddlerdammit
      @Twiddlerdammit  ปีที่แล้ว

      On the vehicle in the video, which is a "Limited" model, the wires were there when the vehicle was manufactured. No additional wiring was needed. I'm not sure which models have the wiring installed from the factory, but I believe that it's most of them. Check your car before ordering mirrors.
      Subaru designed this to be a "dealer installed option" where a low skilled employee at the dealership can simply do the upgrade in minutes.

    • @Twiddlerdammit

      There are 2 plugs that plug into the new mirrors. One is the existing power for heated mirrors, the second is for the LEDs that light the side of your car and the ground. That plug is attached behind the mirror to a piece of foam.
