    Hello! We are currently preparing to cycle the Shinan Islands soon (신안섬) and this week we decided to take a bike ride to the top of Namsan (남산) where you can find the famous N Seoul Tower (N서울타워). The ride is about 240m in elevation and 2km from the entrance of Namsan Park (남산공원). When we got to the top, we decided to check out everything inside the Seoul Tower Plaza and give a little tour of what to expect if you decide to make the trip up there! Enjoy!

      Thanks so much Philip! 😁 Hahah we wanted to try something a bit more "vlog" style as it's really hard to film our traditional style in Seoul with all the people/cars.

    I've never heard of those helmets until now, that's an awesome idea. Also super jealous of your location, definitely worth a little bit of a humble brag!

      Haha thanks a lot Rolling Existence! 🤣 A cycle touring couple we met in the middle of nowhere recommended these helmets to us, and they are so cool! Our conversations while biking before mostly consisted of "Hmm?! WHAT?! I couldn't hear you!", so being able to talk with each other while focusing on the road has been a really nice change!

    This is THE quintessential strava segment in Seoul (along with Bugak, another beautiful climb not too far away), and arguably for the entire country. The current top record is 3m58s, which is insane-- these guys draft behind the buses to reduce drag. One tip from someone who rides up here all the time (all the "regulars" do this); before you enter Namsan park (towards the theater) you usually have to wait at the intersection. Don't wait at the bottom of the hill-- when you come towards the intersection after the climb from the hannam intersection, you turn right and go uphill towards the Banyan tree club entrance (the hill on the other side of the namsan park entrance). It shouldn't take much effort since you catch some speed coming downhill after the climb up from the Hannam intersection before you reach the namsan park/banyan tree intersection. You wait on top of the hill and use the speed coming downhill when the light turns green to "boost" yourself up the climb to the park entrance (decent gradient!), up to where the water fountain is (this is where the segment starts, and people will sometimes catch a breath there before starting the climb). For your reference, the "hannam climb" starts at around 5:23, and the park/banyan tree intersection is the one in 6:32. Hope that helps!

      Wow thanks a lot for the tips @jackkang9034! Will give it a go when the weather cools off a bit! 3m58s is absolutely insane for that climb too!

    Wow! Awesome! I myself biked up there, twice, a few years ago, at night and at a day time... 참고로: Right now I'm in Busan, enjoying splendid views of the most vibrant and most exquisite and developed Korean city, and of the South Sea, and hospitality of local ajeossis and ajummas ㅋㅋㅋ

You guys should come next fall! 👍👍 What about in Australia? Do they get distinct seasons over there where you are living?

      They are amazing Bryan! They cut out the wind noise well, go through walls, and you can communicate pretty far away (up to 900m according to the helmets). We haven't tested the batteries to their limits yet but hoping they last at least a day on the road!

    Just got back from my one month bicycle trip around Korea. It was challenging, but a lot of fun. By the time I got to Seoul I was happy to take a break from cycling, so did the hike up to Namsan Tower from the Myeongdong side. It's a really pretty way to get up there too. And as for other hikes, the climb up Inwangsan Mountain is really fun too. Thanks for the video. Looking forward to your island hopping on bikes.

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey northice that's amazing I'm glad you had a great time! What was your favourite part of your cycle trip here? Also it's so nice to have all the mountains to hike in Seoul! One of the best things about it that doesn't get mentioned enough I think!

    • @northice
      @northice ปีที่แล้ว

      Cycling from Seoul to Busan was really nice, but I think cycling up the east sea was my favourite part. Lots of ups and downs, twists and turns and great views. I remember you said the Seomjingang bicycle path was your favourite, but a small injury forced me to changes plans, so I'll have to leave the south west cycle paths for another trip. In Seoul, I really like the hike up Inwangsan, exploring the war museum, the Cheonggyecheon stream walkway and eating my way through Gwangjang Market. Lots of great food, but Dakgalbi was the comfort food of choice.

    Great video Matt and Yujin! I've been wanting to buy the Insta360 X3 since it came out last month. It would be a good alternative for flying drones here in Seoul especially now that drone restrictions is getting tighter. Yes, it's a bit pricey thou. Saw that no drone sign January this year. Ride safe!

    • @lostthenfound
      @lostthenfound  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks so much Thoan! 😁 The Insta360 X3 would be amazing for cycling for sure! Would almost completely eliminate the need to cycle with one hand for us, but they are so expensive like you said. Stay safe out there eh! The weather is perfect for cycling right now!
