    Hello Jack, if you want to set records you might consider the specs for cycles karts. To the best of my knowledge, the agreed upon specs for cycle kart gas engines is 212 c.c four stroke engines with a stock horsepower rating of 6.5 horse power. 6.5 horsepower comes out to be 4847.1 watts. A conservative estimate of a modified 212 c.c. powerplant of about 10 horsepower would be 7460 watts.
    To have a record in the cycle kart category you would want to limit yourself to a maximum of say 5500 watts for a stock class record. For a modified class, the power should be limited to 8000watts for simplicity sake. The slight allowance of watts for electric is to offset the increased weight for the battery (s). This would more or less equalize the gas verses electric comparison. So to set a meaningful record, you need to have an equal consideration of watts between a gas powered unit verse an electric powered cycle kart.
    Otherwise a person could just install any size motor/battery combo verses any size gas engine rendering any comparisons meaningless. That's why there are classes at Bonneville to equalize the competition to make thing relevant and to not just ending up comparing apples to oranges.
    Just my .02 cents.

      Those guide lines are informal. There is no official governing body.

    Pretty sure it no longer counts as a cyclecart at this point

      @@JackCecil The whole concept of Cyclecarts is that it is about the joy of building and driving. In service of that, everyone keeps it tame by following a set of rules, with allowances made as long as the resulting vehicle is similar to the others. I'm pretty sure roiding out the powerplant and designing for speed voids that.

      Where you are wrong is the fact that there are no rules to cyclekarting. It’s an art form more than a boys club. This kart embodies the fundamental spirit and joy of cyclekarting 100%. That’s what i love about this hobby. I’m enjoying it!

    Cool build but there's a reason Cycle Karts run 6.5hp motors. If you want to be the fastest Cycle Kart it needs a 6.5hp/4.8kv power plant.
    If you want the fastest Gocart build whatever you want just don't call it a Cycle Kart. Just put a Busa/Tesla motor in it and be done with it.

    Aero man, aero. Make a lightweight flat plate for the bottom and make sure the grill is 100% closed off. Could duct a small vent to the motor using an old shop vac tube and a vent on the top to release the air. Probably get a few mph out of it and free downforce.

  • @AaronHendu
    @AaronHendu 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Keep the motor plus sprocket setup but add some geared hub motors to the mix. They will make accelration and hill climbing amazing. Surron sprocket motor for speed. Could probably get over 50hp with hubs and sprocket motor combined. It would be pretty wild.

    • @AaronHendu
      @AaronHendu 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      The hubs will get you WAY faster acceleration..it will make a HUGE difference I promise. Or a gearbox / drivetrain of some sort and more power. The hubs are easy and cheap. Just make sure to get geared motors.

    Redo the hood and trunk covers...make them out of flexible solar panels with all the white plastic painted black. Could probably fit 200w of solar on there.

    The fighter jet nose cone would help a lot. Think boat tail bullet or velomobile. Look up the cheating tricks of track cyclists like how they used to tape a small piece of string on the down stem for drag. Your helmet shape and rider position. under body / flooring in the engine bay (inspiration from speed boat with a step chine). Maybe wheel pants/fenders for the rear wheels but I wouldn't put them on the front.

    ive always wondered why someone doesnt build something like this, but with slicks for a go kart for higher speeds, and maybe a twin cylinder 2 stroke, from a yamaha lol. if anyone knows of anything like this, link it to me, id love to see it!

      and like how these are designed to look like old GP cars, what if you built a tiny cigar chassis and made a 60s or 70s era looking cycle kart? sure it wouldnt be regulation, but whos gonna wanna go up against it anyways? the fun would be in hotlapping and taking it out on the backroads! 90+mph at just a foot or so eye level, above ground level, the sense of speed would be mad!
