Guys. On Osula, it’s the same as Gordon, Hall, Livramento. We buy a young player with potential, work with them behind the scenes for 6 months then they come back next year a world beater. Got to just give him and the coaching team time. EH said in training he is an excellent finisher and we can see he has all the attributes needed.
I hope I'm wrong but Wolves for me has a similar feeling to all those other times we've played a "weaker" team at SJP expecting to win and haven't (e.g. Luton, Bournemouth, West Ham). I hope the players don't let their levels drop
Agreed - Longstaff did play a bit desperate to get a goal by pushing up to their defensive line … but he never got himself in decent space, got a decent shot in, gave a crisp forward pass or stood strong on the ball and got dispossessed … Miley delivered on all of those and was ice cold. The lad is class
I have bad memories of visiting St. Andrew's on a Tuesday night in the league - more than 25 years ago. The place was deserted - I got the date wrong and the game was the following day!!
David oliver has said my point. Nonsense about Barnes needing a run to be at his best. No, he’s better as an impact when teams are more stretched/fatigued because he doesn’t have real pace to hurt defenders from the start.
Longstaff isn't bossing the likes of bromley, he doesn't grasp and take his chance, his tool kit is limited and he's at the lowest rung of newcastles midfield ladder, although he's being compared to TOP CLASS midfielders. Does the same exact run over and over like a robot his best attributes are defensive and is a back up. He'd be better off moving on before it becomes sour. The first 11 has 2 positions we can bring someone in to be a main stay, RW and CD, then the rest is bringing youngins to develop and eventually take over, it won't be long before the squad is very strong. This is the major advantage that eddie howe brings which appears to side step the necessity for endless money, splashing the cash willy nilly has got the big boys all tangled in their own bad decisions.
Didn't know much about Osula before we signed him. Done a few Google searches and watched a few videos and I think gebcould do a job for us on the right wing.
As a position 6, dictating the tempo of the game so that everyone can move to open up space is Tonali's job and the longstaff is not able to do it. In position 8 longstaff cannot be as creative as Bruno. So where will the longstaff play?
chatting nonsense about barnes needing a run of games, he was shite today but he has come on as a sub numerous times and won us games earlier in the season. Longstaff is simply rubbish and not good enough for us, people need to stop embarrassing themselves by defending him he's not a prem level player and should be at league two level in a few years off his actual ability
Baffles me the fans saying longstaff is a good player. I like him a lot good lad but he’s not a top level player. Ipswich should by him instead of Calvin Philips
All players need a run of games. Barnes hasn't looked great coming off the bench in recent weeks (Sincewe've stuck with a consistent 11)....Yes he's done his job but nothing that warrants him starting. Longstaff is solid lower premier league player, works hard however doesn't have that top quality we need. I think both players will leave this year
OK so tell us exactly why Longstaff if rubbish? Bear in mind ‘that which can be stated without evidence can be dismissed without evidence’ and “because I think so” doesn’t count as evidence?
@@geordiedog1749 Just my opinion, but he's slow, slow to make decisions, poor with the ball at his feet, gives the ball away too often, and kills attacks regularly by making needless backward passes. Again, though, just my untrained opinion.
@@Robert.Sheard But he doesn’t do any of that to an extent that warrants the “rubbish” or “not good enough” comments. The whole team struggled against a low block because the modern game is such that a physical and fit side will always cause some problems if they choose that as a tactic. If Eddie had played a full strength side but with Longstaff in the middle three none of the alleged issues would be relevant. Miley gets a lot of praise - rightly - but he passed the ball sideways a lot. He did this because they were no moves on because of the low block and that is not Longy’s fault.
It's almost a guarantee that Longstaff will give the ball away everytime he receives it. He's nowhere near the level we need these days. Baffles me that people have defended him so much. FourFourTwo for example saying you know nowt about football if you think Longstaff is bad, like am I being daft or are we watching someone different? Yes you can argue that he's good off the ball, but we're fighting for champions league football now and we need players that are good on AND off the ball.
Longstaff is absolutely rubbish his passing is a disgrace and his man marking is atrocious he should be down the list of starters with Miley way above Longstaff as for Barnes he cannot be starter he does not cover defensively and if he doesn’t score he gives nothing else to the team he is a impact sub at best
Problem with that is the actual facts don’t remotely support it. But even if it was right and he had an atrocious then name a player who doesn’t have a shite game every now and again? The problem with Longstaff is that no matter how much people who bring receipts to these discussions (eg Adam Cleary of 442) tell you that Longstaff is a good player there’s a core of folks who jump on him the instant he puts a foot wrong. One of these sits behind me and has only recently shut up because I challenged him and he had nowt. The whole team was bad first half yesterday and somehow it’s all Longstaffs fault.
Longstaff is a passenger. When he plays in eddies available best 11 his shortcomings aren't so obvious because the other lads are at levels above him, thus he can flatter to deceive, scorung goals etc Put him in a covbled together team and he's shown uo for what he is unfortunately.... a lower Premier league/championship level player. He may even improve marginally given a run in another team with full backing of his manager. He's a squad player (only just) at this ever improving top 6 established team. Best of luck to him but he's on borrowed time.
Thing is if you put Tonali in a cobbled together team then he’s going to look lesser than usual. Your entire point can be flipped on its head. Put any player in a poor team and guess what happens? Sometimes you stand out if you’re absolute exceptional or very lucky. I have a friend who is a uefa B coach in a championship team (QPR). I spoke to him about Longy and he simply said “put him up for sale a see how many teams are straight in for him”.

Been waiting for this one
As a Brummie Toon fan the 5-1 loss to Blues from 2007 still haunts me. That was a fun few weeks in school after that one lol

Hats off to Bromley they give it a proper go and were unlucky not to go 2-0 up😮

There’s no dichotomy about Longstaff and Miley. They are very different types of m/f. It’s not either/or.
David oliver has said my point. Nonsense about Barnes needing a run to be at his best. No, he’s better as an impact when teams are more stretched/fatigued because he doesn’t have real pace to hurt defenders from the start.
Hey Siri, play Tequila.
miley is a proper operator

Its only Bromley lads.

Middlesborough
Have we got to a point where we want Forrest to actually beat Liverpool? ;p
We will finish 3rd this season mark my words 😅😂😂 Arsenal will drop to 4th citeh 2nd and Chelsea 5th
So with Forest winning the league I guess you're predicting Liverpool to come 6th? 😂
So the usual comments are back. Longstaff is not good enough because the whole team was poor in the first half. Dear oh dear……..

Form is temporary, class is permanent. Longstaff and miggy where shite

Keep Miley and sell Barnes, Miggy and Longstaff..
