    I live in Thailand and sure wish they would offer a Twin 650 based Himalayan! The mountains here need the extra power, especially with this type of bike which tends to get loaded down with extra weight. The BMW GS850 and Honda CB500x are king here for mid range touring bikes and RE could give them a run for their money with an updated Himalayan model.

      AFAIK, it isn’t the engine temperature, because internal combustion engines don’t run this cool. It’s an ambient temperature sensor, but because it sits so close to the Himalayan’s engine, it shows a read out that is warmer than the actual environment. So to simply put a blanket on this folly, RE service guys call it the “Engine ambient temperature” which says it’s not the actual engine temperature but is instead the ambient temperature around the engine. Now why would you want to know the ambient temperature around the engine? You either want the actual environmental temperature for keeping yourself warm or cold, and/or want to know the actual engine temperature if you are monitoring any heating issues. Hope this clarifies your doubt.

      Royal Enfield just done a blunder by placing the temperature probe (sensor) near the engine compartment. Now it’s actually not showing anything. I mean neither the real engine temperature, in that case the sensor should have been immersed in the radiator compartment, or engine-oil chamber nor the ambient temperature, in that case the sensor should have been placed in such a place where engine-heat does not affect. I think it’s clear now.

    Is Himalayan good for a really really long ride on 10,000 km in say 20 days in India? Can Himalayan be compared to Versys 300 or 600?

    • @bhaveshsingh4865
      @bhaveshsingh4865 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Versys 300 is a great bike but costly, both while buying as well as Maintainence. Versys 650 sits in another class both in terms of capacity and cost.
      Himalayan is comparitvely cheaper than both of them and yet handles perfectly for Indian conditions.
      500kms a day on average should not be an out and out issue for Himalayan, provided you travel at comfortable speeds of 70-90 kmph with few halts in between for bike to cool down.
      Most Indian highways do not allow you to maintain triple digit speeds anyway due to some or other reasons, be it cattle, dogs or idiots driving recklessly Or crossing highways as if it is a street road.

A fender kit to raise that front fender a bit? And why do we see so many people putting on gas cans? What happened to the 70 mpg fuel economy that will give 250 mile range?

    I don't think people should trash motorcycles that fail to measure up ...it is just rude as hell. People should dig deep and say only positive things. Here is mine ....The wheels are really round! At least as round looking as any other motorcycle! The engine sounds BETTER than most of the millions and millions of mowers and edgers ! Head and shoulders BETTER sounding than so many MILLIONS of other engines! This motorcycle checks many or even more boxes than most other motorcycles built in the last 50 years! THAT is a LOT of bikes! Oh here is a good one.....Having this motorcycle will get you some attention! It is a novelty so when you pull up to a bike meeting place on a weekend? Guaranteed a lot of guys will stroll over to look at it....And hey you can just walk far enough away to not hear them and instead just imagine they are drooling over it. Lastly is this point any engine built for decades? There is bound to be parts available....kinda nice as opposed to bikes only built for a few model years....okay that is all I can think of right now.... Oh and bonus comment! It looks like a motorcycle quite a few people could actually ride!

    • @nigelwolfe6150
      @nigelwolfe6150 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And no coolant means no coolant leaks. Lower horsepower means fewer speeding tickets. Heavier motorcycles are more stable parked in high winds.....2 front fenders (1:33) ? Extra protection crossing puddles.....much like wearing belt AND suspenders....no matter what they say YOUR pants are staying UP EVEN if one system fails!....say one of those two front fenders breaks off or falls off due to vibration? WHAT is the chances BOTH will on the same ride?? Meaning you will STILL have one functional fender! NOW lets hear anyone make fun of it!.....especially if they lost their fender on the same ride ....okay the chances of all that happening on the same ride are 490,000:1 but STILL.....it COULD happen someday to someone!

    2.4 lakh rupees equates to £2311. In the UK that Himalayan costs the equivalent of 5 lakh rupees 😬

    Well RE is complacent with the customer's demand. I fail to understand why they cannot pump in more power in himalayan. It can easily be tuned to at least 34 to 35 bhp. I guess honda cb350 is a big threat to RE 350 plan. Amsure Honda will come out with a 500 single for customers who wants more power. RE has totally discontinued 500cc machine and am not sure about their plans. 350 cc is underpowered, Himalayan could have been tuned with more power. Straight away the gap has increased from 350cc to 650 cc twin. No idea what RE is doing with this. Still Meteor could have gotten more power but thats RE...
