  • In RCA released a series of novelty stereo albums called "Stereo action" using early multitrack recording and pan pots on the console the sound would whizz back and forth between the speakers creating what RCA called "The sound your eyes can follow" Listen with headphones for the full effect

I have a mint condition copy of this amazingly wonderful 1960 sampler album of the Stereo Action series, a real collectors' item. RCA should have reissued the entire series on CDs. Love Stereo Action! Real Space Age Bachelor Pad music! Cool modern jazz-pop of the MCM era. They all feature thick heavy cardboard die-cut covers with ultramodern designs from a visionary graphic arts designer. A brilliant concept! Henry Mancini was asked to do his 1961 RCA Victor album "Combo!" as part of this series, but he declined, since he didn't want his music to seem "gimmicky". Esquivel, however, embraced the format whole-heartedly with his excellent 1962 RCA Victor album "Latinesque". The whole series are now sought-after collectors' items.

So here I am sat home, trying to test the audio output on my computer to see if it's in stereo. I thought to myself "gee, I wish I could test it with the Stereo Action Unlimited record", which my parents had a copy of and which I still have, buried in a box in storage somewhere. So I looked on good ol' You Tube, where I've found many rare albums and '45's, and voila! Here it is! And after a little tweaking, the audio output from my computer is now in stereo! Thank you mspysu79 for posting this!

A nice job- thanks. It was a short-lived format but really allowed people to show off their stereo systems.

Mi padre tenía algunos álbumes de esta magnífica serie. Este mismo, el de Ray Martin y el de Henry Rene.

Just got Dynamic Dimensions Henri Rene for $1 AUD @ local Vinnies Op Shop. I/t midst of bldg my own analogue recording studio & re-adopting analogue generally I found that gem ... which my intuition proved right, show-casing stereo to the emerging 60s consumer market. A fantastic lesson in antique-vintage audio production. Joy heaped upon joy, there were even notes o/t the period recording equipment used which current-day audio forum-phobes lust after ... luckily the recordings sound FANTASTIC even from the precocious 21st Century perspective. I’ll look out 4 more such wonderful recordings😎👍🤓👌
