The Bad MER honestly makes it great for baiting most planes into a slow speed fight whilst still having good top-speed against planes you REALLY can't do that against. I beat a Spitfire Mk IX in a dogfight because the plane would lose speed quickly but then float around because the sheer amount of 'fuck you' power allowed me to essentially move where I wanted to. Also, the plane doesn't produce 3000hp. In game testing it produces 2500 at "Normal speeds" Most I've gotten is up to 2700 by going almost 640kmh at low alt.. It did have another manifold pressure allowing it to produce an extra 200 horsepower, but gaijin basically said "Fuck you, no."
7:42 oh hey it’s me. That match turned into a horror game when you and your squad descended on me lol. Great video man, I’ll definitely have to try out the F8F at some point!
100% and I’m glad they lowered it. It climbs like an absolute bat outta hell for its BR. You always get above them every game. But it’s accurate to the real plane. It was designed to climb super fast to intercept kamikazes. Sadly the war ended before they got to combat.
I love that you put up MEC settings in your videos :) This thing is an absolutely nutty allrounder at its BR, since it can use its own tools to outperform its adversaries weaknesses. The frontal canopy could be better in sim, but that's about all I can complain about.
@@ActuallyNotIlmatar Yea as soon as I started using MEC I realized how important it would be, mainly to keep my plane’s engine from overheating. I figure it is just as useful to everyone else :)
Even if you change the Game or something someday, your style of producing videos in such Great detail is Great!! I am Shure that is a real skill and You will find a way to use it for good :D
This plane is nasty in the sense that it too fast for it's br (not count the cancer wyvern) it's doesn't really stall either, bad MER can be abused to your advantage. This thing fight something like La-5 FN, spritfire Mk2B, A6M2. Good job gaijoob.
The AoA the F8F is capable of is incredibly fun I took an N1K2 by surprise using it, but his speed was equal to a biplane when i engaged him Was using the F8F-1B
Tell me about it I got the speed and altitude advantage over a F8F in my I-185 and when I tried to get him into scissors he simply pulled up sharp and got into my 6 without sweating at all!
@@SamuelFlores-rx4oj I used to play it all the time when it was 3.3 for a short time. I haven’t flown it out much since it was raised back to 3.7, but I’m sure it’s still capable :)

@@わるわる-r9r at 5.0 it doesn’t have much going for it. Guns and top speed are good, but it takes a long time to get to high speed and it’s very easy to lose it in a single turn. I would fly it if it had better acceleration and energy retention, because I prefer the 20mm over 6 50s on the D30 mustang
I think 4.7 is fair for most people. Guns matter in this game. I’m an experienced player who has been playing this game since 2015 probably. I do far better in the yak 3p at a higher BR than the yak 3 because the ability to one tap opponents in a short firing window is really important. Maybe not for the most skilled people with the best aim and ping but it does matter for the majority of other players. 4 50 cals is really anemic at that BR. The lack of good rudder control at high speed is a major detriment too. Especially for a plane that goes fast. Good high speed maneuverability would be great to use against yaks since they rip so soon. But you can’t do that fully with the bearcat due to compression. Finally the need to have to use MEC to stop the engine overcooking is a major downside. Most people don’t use MEC in this game. Even I personally don’t use it since 2017 because I keep forgetting how to set it up again after all those years. If the plane cooks itself while using auto engine control, it’s not for everyone. The yaks for example don’t need any engine management at all. You just have to take them out and fly them.
@@roadkill6737 guns matter, yea, but flight performance matters more to me because no one can do much when you outperform them. The rudder for sure is horrible 😆 not much we can do about that. And MEC is definitely needed on this aircraft and it makes a huge difference, but unfortunately lots of people aren’t able to set it up

Gajinn was too stupid to find a way to balance it to they nerfed it into the ground
It's like the reverse Ta152H. Incredibly bad MER, incredibly good climb and speed.
It looks like one of those funny egg planes

What's MER
@ Maneuvering Energy Retention, or the speed you maintain while doing maneuvers such as turning, dodging, spiraling up, etc.

not really
Smigol would have all 3 wrapped up with just 3 bullets.

.50cals have no right to blow off wings as often as they do 😂
Wdym these light af non US planes are half wood. In a high speed turn suddenly taking damage to the airfoil would normally do that.
