    I just got a 03 250EX that was my late fathers. Had not been ridden in two years and had a full tank of fuel. With this video, I drained the tank, I took the carb apart and cleaned it all with brake cleaner and put it back together and it fired right up. Perfect video. Thanks.

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah it did. I had set the idle up knowing she had not run in years. I was kinda supprised but it started almost instantly! Then I adjusted the idle. By the way in the vid it was running with the choke partially on because it wasnt warmed up yet. and it idles higher.

    Is there another part in the main jet assembly that goes in before the main jet?. Some videos show it and some don't. It is a small brass tube piece.

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for watching the video. The brass tube you are talking about is called the holder. the main jet is two pieces. the main jet, and the main jet holder. the tube I think you are talking about screws into the carb body and the Main jet screws into it. I hope that helps. Best of luck with it.

    Hi Lastmoto777, good job. Thanks for sharing. Question, my 2005 TRX 250 ex, got soak into a lake for about 1 or 2 minutes, we pulled it out as soon as we can. After that it started and run Ok when idle on neutral, and sound very normal. But when push the accelerator it fails, it strugles and dies. No water got into the gasoline, i changed the gasoline and left dry for many days, it starts at first try, but the failure remains. Should i try clean the carburator? Can i have your suggestiong.

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Ok. First make sure your air filer is not soaked with water, and your air box doesnt have water in it. It definitely could be the carb. first just drain the bowl with the drain screw that looks like a jet at the bottom of the bowl. Stand the quad on its tail to make sure theres no water blocking the exhaust. Finally if its not any of that, its something electrical. maybe water in the engine case by the stator, coil, plug, etc. Hondas are pretty tough so in my experience it either cant breath, or its electrical. Good luck with it !

    Hi, and great job on the video, I saw you other video (rear axle/ rear brake bearing removal) and used it as a guide for mine. I do have a question: 1 I installed a Big Gun slip on to my 2006 trx250ex and as soon as I install the muffler I'm getting smoke from the manifold (right where the screws go to the cylinder head) if I take the muffler off it stops smoking, I think the smoke is of extreme heat but not sure, any recommendations? someone told me that I need bigger jets and I have no idea witch ones to get. is there a scew I can possible adjust on the carburetor to help with this? thanks in advance for your help!!

    great video. i just rebuilt the carb on my 250ex that had bad gas in it for years that turned to varnish pretty much. cleaned it good and replaced all the inside parts but the plastic piece on the end of the main jet was cracked. when i start the quad it just revs to wide open throttle instantly. any ideas what im doing wrong?

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  9 ปีที่แล้ว

      One reason could be the o-ring in front of the carb is missing or leaking./ One of your jets is missing,( they need their tiny o-rings also) /or your slide is stuck open. You're going to have to take her back off and have a look. It is getting way too much air from somewhere. Good luck with that....Oh yeah, make sure the throttle cable is not getting stuck open

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Make sure your carb slide is installed correctly. If it is not it will be at full throttle. The slot on the side of the Slide needs to be lined up with the idle jet that screws in from the side of the carb above the bowl. If your air intake is still off look to see if the slide is down or not. when you look in the back of the carb ,you should be able to see the slide. Try that first. Also an air leak on the intake or carb will also cause a engine to run like its wide open. Good luck with that.

  • @IMPORTANTVIDEOS7
    @IMPORTANTVIDEOS7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can you tell me the sequence of the idle screws gasket and washer and spring orientation? Its got 2 gaskets or only one? Mine didnt have them.

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  ปีที่แล้ว

      I believe it gets one O ring gasket on the top of the jet ( larger one).Its been a while so I dont remember it all. I do not remember washers except for the bowl screws. If it had washers on the jets when you took it apart then it needs them. Best of luck with it.

    Question... Just took my carb off and completely don't remember where one of the tubes goes. Not the gas ling or the overflow hose... The third tube that is on it. in your video you already have the tube off before you started working. I know where it goes on the carb, but where does the other end hook up?

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The hose on the top is a breather and it goes through the 2 holes on the rear side of your fuel tank. .....From the carb up through the hole on the left rear of the fuel tank then back pointing down through the hole on the right. hope that helps.

    Question, when I pulled out the top fuel gasget, some old gas came out as a very foul smelling like fluid and it seemed to have rusted on the inside. What would I need to do?

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thats probably tarnish or mud. The parts are aluminum and the tank is plastic, I would use carb cleaner and compressed air. remove all the jets and spray carb cleaner and compressed air until there are no blockages. dump whatever gas is still in the tank and add fresh gas if you haven't already done that . Replace the fuel filter too to be on the safe side. reassemble and it should work. Hope this Helps. Good Luck.

    So my aftermarket carburetor on my Honda Recon: it was running rough so I cleaned out the carb as best I could but the idle mixture screw is behind a brass plug so I can't get to it unless ...how do you remove the plug? Also, when I put it back together it idled fine for a few minutes then when I cut it off, it started leaking gas out of the overflow tube on bottom of the carb. Then when I started it up it ran rough again. What could be the problem?

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I cant say much about your aftermarket, but in general it may be your plunge valve. ( the thing that is attatched to your floats) if your float is opening too much it will leak out the overflow. Anyway. Best of luck with it.

    • @mr.patrick5726
      @mr.patrick5726 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Outdoor Man , To remove that brass cap/plug gently drill a small hole in it then use a pointy anything in the hole to pry it out . Should pop right out . That tube on the BOTTOM of the carb is NOT the overflow , it is the drain . You will see a screw right next to it , snug that closed to stop the fuel from running through . It was probably running rough due to improper fuel level in the bowl because the drain was open . P.S. You will get a lot better gas mileage with the drain closed as well , HA HA !! Good luck Man .

    I just changed all mine but when I start it reveals up high and don't go down and that's without the choke on its wide open soon as I start it. What could be the problem..

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your throttle must be wide open. I would first check the idle screw that goes into the side of the carb. Then check the throttle cable to make sure it is allowing the slide to return down to idle. After that you should take the slide out to see if you can find the problem. Ultimately if you cant get it straightened out you will need to remove the carb again and start over. It really could be alot of different things so best of luck with it.

    Heyy i have a trx 250ex 2006 and i bought a carb kit for it cleaning one because it wouldn’t start and then bought a new gas filter and then changed the spark plug put new gas and new oil and was starting it but wouldn’t unless with removed the air filter and put our hand over were the air filter connects to the carb and then let the air out and then put our hand on it and keep doing that but after a while will then turn of don’t know what to do please help

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be alot of things , but start with checking for spark after it wont run anymore. If there is spark then pull the fuel line off the carb and make sure its getting gas. Turn the petcock to on and make sure the fuel is flowing. If thats not it then it may need a valve adjustment. A lack of compression would also cause this problem. Andreu there is alot of things it could be but this is a good place to start. Best of luck with it.

Since that day it never ran good and it's sat for about 5 years. I need a rebuild and a good cleaning and proper throttle cable. Any part numbers appreciated. Especially the cable itself. Do i need to use a genuine Honda throttle cable and jets?

      I used the moose racing rebuild kit for the stock carb ( from amazon). It worked well. The Honda original parts will of course work well also. As far as the throttle cable I would use the genuine Honda cable. I usually buy from partzilla .com they have good prices and just look up your year, make , model and they have all the oem parts. • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      The carb on a 2011 250ex is nearly identical to the one in the video. cdn1.bikebandit-images.com/schematics/schematics/honda/hon015/ho0311016014.gif This a link to a schematic of your carb. You can copy and paste this in your browser. It is definitely rebuildable. If you havent bought a new one yet I would just give your carb a good cleaning because your carb should not be bad yet.
      PS. my advice for you . find a new shop or mechanic. Better yet learn to work on our quad yourself. We race and do all of our mechanic work ourselves because of alot of low quality work done by the pros at top dollar, the dishonesty, and the general we dont really care about you attitude of many shops. Anyway. I hope this was helpful.

    Hi there can u please tell me why it backfires

    • @lastmoto777
      @lastmoto777  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah. On mine its because there is no baffle in the exhaust. No back pressure. There is a chrome cap but no baffle. The lack of back pressure will produce backfiring. Hope that helps.

      The throttle idle adjust screw is in the side of the carb slide body . It will adjust how open the carb is at idle.The mixture screw is on the front of the carb pointing up from your bowl.( like upside down from underneath). Make sure that the throttle cable is allowing the slide to return to rest at idle. If its open it will rev high. Thirdly make sure there is no air leaks where the carb is bolted to the manifold and that the o-ring is sealing. all of these things will cause a really high idle. good luck with it.

      First check your idle screw that goes in the side of the carb and acts as a slide stop ( turn out to lower idle).Then check your throttle adjustment screws for the cable. If it is a older Honda the throttle cable may not be fully returning to idle.You can lube it but sometimes it just needs to be replaced. anyway best of luck with it.
