    hello guys and gals
    in this video I will be adding an aqua dechlor 3 stage dechlorinator to my koi pond to hopefully get rid of my toxins in the tap water.
    I will also be cleaning my filters out and removing some dying pond plants
    and finally I will add some kuro koi clay to the pond after cleaning.
    as always thanks for watching 👍

    Hi mate, your dechlorinator should only be a slow flow, I use mine as a trickle in/out system which does my weekly water change, I trickle into my filter and exits via a overflow in my skimmer. Use the dpd4 tablets to confirm your flow rate is removing the chlorine. Regards Andy

      Cheers Andy hope bizley is well 👌.the only problem I have us I use an awful lot of water cleaning the gravel filter and don't have an outdoor tap to leave it trickling in to top up but I'm getting one fitted asap. 👍

      Bizley is fine mate thanks for asking, I know all about using lots of water, I'm on a bloody water meter lol. I also had to fit an outside tap but it was worth the effort. Keep up the good work Regards Andy & Bizley

    Any issues having the hma filter fitted outside in the winter? I’m looking to fit mine to the side of the house but don’t want the filter freezing up in the winter

      I haven't had any issues with the one on the tosai tank but I will be putting mine in an insulated shed at some point so yes definitely best to 👍

    Hi matey, good video go slow with the 3 stage, fill up a glass from the 3 stage drop a DPD tablet in and check the Chloramine should give you an idea how fast you can run the water, thanks bro 👍🏻

    What's the difference between a dechorinator and a reverse osmosis unit ?
    Looks exactly the same .

    • @progressivepondkeeping
      @progressivepondkeeping  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah they look very similar a dechlorinator removes chlorine an R.O unit removes all other contaminates hope this helps

    That’s a interesting filter system you have there my friend ! As for the 3 stage water cartridges I’m only running mine of 1 cartridge I need to upgrade to the 3 stage myself Great video

    Looking like you had a bit more nice weather for filming that slow on the 3 stage i have to in line and if i drop clean the two pods and vortex I put it on a slow real fine spray even after them and top back up can take 4 - 5 hours Happy ponding mate

      Thanks mate , yes it took a lot longer to fill up than normal. Hopefully I can get the flow just right 👍

    Is the dechlorinator something that you have to keep running constantly or can i use it just for when i do a water change to remove the chlorine from my tap water?

    • @progressivepondkeeping
      @progressivepondkeeping  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can run when you want it will last longer if only used for water changes I would put it away out of sunlight if not using it for a bit

      @@progressivepondkeeping ok brilliant thanks for the fast reply. I have just ordered one from amazon for my uncles pond he needs to do a partial water change or maybe even a full water change as he has suddenly lost a good few koi recently and so he needs to act fast so i told him i would order him the dechlorinator online as he is not very good with the Internet but i just wanted to make sure i have ordered the right dechlorinator for tap water refills.

    • @progressivepondkeeping
      @progressivepondkeeping  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could always ad some liquid dechlorinator aswell just to be safe

    • @Red-Rambo
      @Red-Rambo 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@progressivepondkeeping yes i took him to a big pond suppliers today hoping to purchase the dechlorinator filter but they had none in stock so they sold us some liquid dechlorinator called fresh start and then i just ordered the dechlorinator filter you have in your video but after watching your video i assumed that it was a filter you hook up to your pond to actually dechlorinate your pond water itself as opposed to dechlorinating tap water during a water change but now i know after your advise that you can use it for both water changes and also constant pond dechlorinating . Thanks again you have been a massive help

    • @progressivepondkeeping
      @progressivepondkeeping  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No problem mate remember to only feed the dechlorinator from the tap not the pond it's self so only to be used if topping up or if you have constant water trickling in.

    I'm getting the 3 stage warter purifier, have you managed to work out the flow rate. Thanks

    • @progressivepondkeeping
      @progressivepondkeeping  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello mate it seems to work best at a slow trickle not sure on exact flow rates but I think it will tell you in the instructions 👍

    If you want to tidy the pond wall just keep it simple and use some feather edge and you could also put some insulation between the battens. Messy job cleaning filters but let’s face it we love doing it.

    • @progressivepondkeeping
      @progressivepondkeeping  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Brilliant idea on the feather edge I think you have sorted my pond walls 😁 . definitely messy but yes we love it 👌👍

  • @danieldavis9946

    You just want to trickle it in m8 the slower the better. I've but an overflow in my skimmer so its trickle in and out.

    • @progressivepondkeeping
      @progressivepondkeeping  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      That would be ideal for me but I don't have an outside tap atm . I'm going to have to get one sorted

  • @kwilson41
    @kwilson41 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    You need to trickle it in as slow as possible, maximum would be about a litre per minute.

  • @newkekarmyreee4788

    How about you pretty it up with a proper stone frontage. If you can lay blocks you can do it. it is just a lot slower and more rewarding. Never hurry the stone. It took millions of years to be ready for walls.

    • @progressivepondkeeping
      @progressivepondkeeping  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That would be awesome but tbh I not sure I will keep this pond . I eventually want to rebuild it properly
